The Official Battery Life Thread

Soooo, I see mixed results with the battery so far. What are the best settings to use to conserve battery but still have the most functionality? Auto brightness, check. Haptic feedback off? etc. etc?

Just got my Bionic today and so far I LOVE it. I actually think the battery life is FANTASTIC! I had to return a TBolt when it first came out because it only lasted 6h or maybe 8h on standby! YIYEKS.

Anyway, charged battery for first time today from 11:30-1pm. Then played with in continuously pretty much till now (9:30pm) with 50% battery left.

Disabled all GPS except Verizon location (GPS is a huge battery killer)
Autoscreenbrightness on although tonight I took it off and turned it on bright manually because I don't like a dim screen
Wifi on all day at home
4G on all day (we live in 4G but wifi is on at home). Taking dog on walk switched to 4G. Shopping - 4G.
Left on haptic feedback. Love that so if battery is good, will leave it on
No bluetooth use
Made phone calls, downloaded a million things, surfed web, etc. Pretty much heavy use.
Did NOT download videos or watch youtube, etc today.

So far, to have 50% battery after 8+h of use is really great in my mind.

Tomorrow I am going to turn off LTE and report back using wifi and 3G. Should be even better. :D

Took the phone off the charger around 8:30AM this morning. Been out all day with about 2-3 hours of netflix, played some online games, a few phone calls, some texts, took some pictures and recorded some video to test the camera. Through all of that, battery went down to 5% around 9:30PM while I was watching netflix. Brightness is set to auto and 4G on all day. I think netflix killed the battery the most.

Today, with moderate usage, I'm down from 100% to 24% after 12h 25m on battery. My moderate usage was a lot of fiddling with apps and widgets, homescreen settings and backgrounds, watched about 40 minutes of video, had 3 lengthy phonecalls (each over 30 minutes), and sent and received multiple text messages (over 50). So for me, when my Droid X was down to getting about 8 hours on one charge, this is amazing. And all this was on 4G LTE, no wifi. GPS on at all times, but not doing any navigation.

I just slapped on my charger right now after 15 hours of moderate use. Streamed about an hours worth of music played some flash games on my break and looked at twitter, read Facebook, received emails and did some texting as well. All on 4G as well.

Extended battery, medium usage with bit of everything (netflix over Hdmi included), 4g almost all the time, display at 40% brightness, performance mode. Battery died at almost 15 hours after only the initial overnight charge. Was able to use phone for 2 hours after reached 10% and less so not sure if stats are calibrated very well.

Has anyone found a battery widget that shows the percentage in 1% increments for this phone yet? Heck, I'd take one that shows in 5% increments at this point. I'm currently using Battery Indicator and it only shows in 10% increments, which drives me crazy. Thanks.

This may seem silly,

But shouldn't you be able to turn off G3 and still get calls? On my original Droid Eris, G3 ate a good hunk of charge and I could turn that off. Am I missing something in the data settings?

Thanks!

Paul

Never mind...found it in the data delivery menu-unchecking Data enabled and background data seems to do the trick!:)

This is my first smartphone and I'm f'n HATING the battery life. Hating it bad.

I left work between 90-100% charge on my phone. I took 3 pictures on the way out the door. Drove home. Took about 9 more pictures when I got home and deleted some, and then sent about 35 text messages over the course of 4 hours while I watched two movies. Battery was at ~10%. Total time from 90-100% to 10% was about 5 hours with fairly light use. Wow. That's crazy.
I'm in Phoenix so I have 4g, however, inside my house I connect to wi-fi and my phone will switch from 4g to 3g. I also only get 1 bar in almost every spot in my house no matter what (the 1 bar in my house is on any verizon phone). I have the battery saver thing set to maximum battery save.

edit
Can't get screenshots for this as I already re-charged the phone and slept since then. I'll charge it up back to 100% and get a better feel for it

Don't forget to include the display on time, so we know how much you actually used the phone.

Yesterday. I had it fully charged while going to a concert. Got out of my car at 645 and when it was over at 1045 I had 55% left. That's with the brightness all the way down, gps and wifi off. I was playing with it a lot. I bought the extra standard battery and charging accessory too. I've only had the phone for 24 hours; I'm hoping to condition the battery more.

I have a dock at work home and car. Never really need an extended not to mention probably returning the spare battery i bought because of that reason

OK after 8 hours I'm at 30%. 4G on the whole time, 1 short call, Tapatalk, Browser and Twitter use. A few text messages and played a game of Battleheart for 30 mins. Total screen on time was 1 hour and 45 mins. Does this sound like good battery or no?

You only used for phone a little bit though. That's not that impressive since the phone was on standby most of the day.

i actually used it alot, i shouldn't of hit refresh which took off some of the apps i was using...

You can turn off data services, but I wasn't trying to artificially extend time. What I was showing was my normal useage for the day. On my X if it got down to 5 or 10 percent battery it would be turning off almost immediately. With this phone on extended battery it stayed on for litterally 2 to 3 hours after hitting 10% on the battery. Granted I didn't do a whole lot of stuff after that, but that is pretty amazing (or the calibration is off and it wasn't really at 10%)
