The Official Battery Life Thread

That's why juice defender is so great, you set it up the way you want. If you want everything off when screen is off except yahoo email, then you can set it up that way. Just an example.

I will tentatively second zmannn on Juice Defender (I say tentatively b/c I've only been using the app for 3 days). Reading some of his experiences after using JD, I purchased JD Plus. After a few re-installs to resolve some issues on the first day of use, yesterday I made it home from the office with 72% battery left. Needless to say, that's a "wow" given my previous experience of being in the 30% range. I understand that during this time I've also conditioned my battery, so that helps as well, but this is the first time I could have gone over 24 hours with this phone. The only negative so far (after getting through the initial setup issues I experienced) is that every so often when I turn my phone's screen on, the screen doesn't fully wake for a couple of seconds. When I say doesn't fully wake, I mean the screen is on but black. Fortunately, this has only happened a handful of times as I'm constantly waking the phone to reply to texts, etc. Now if I could only convince my wife to try it on her 4G...

Thanks zmann for mentioning Juice Defender!

When the screen doesn't turn on, how did you get it back on? I had this happen and had to pull the battery

That's cool, it's a good app. I don't have the black screen issue, why I could not tell you.

Are you running Juice Defender? I assumed it was b/c of that app, but I may be mistaken. To resolve the issue, I either wait 2-4 seconds and it comes on, or turn the phone back off and then on again (not power down, just use the power button like you do to wake the phone).

I am always running jd and do not have that issue. So maybe there is something you can do to change that.

It may have nothing to do with Juice Defender, I just happened to notice it after I installed JD. Either way, doesn't really bother me that much given how infrequently it happens. I'm just so excited about the potential for much better battery! No more fear about being always next to a charger like I always was.

General Disclaimer: I'm talking up Juice Defender, but it's not some magical app that will keep your battery from draining especially given some of the high drain potential that this phone is capable of. It's just nice that if I happen to use it moderately for text, email and calls it's not dead w/in a matter of hours.

That's good to know, I'll have to continue to experiment.

Not to get off the topic of battery but, what I have noticed is that a few times Juice Defender has dropped it's settings. I have each of my apps configured, and 2 times the settings have disappeared. This would have really sucked, but luckily I used the apps back up feature, and restored them right away. Have you experienced this?

Just like I said before, yesterday I was on my bike, had gps on and using jog tracker app, had bluetooth on and using music player,, receive a bunch of text, had a 5 mins convo on phone threw bluetooth, used google maps because i got lost,, all this in 2 hours and I still had 75 percent left. My 4g would have been at 40 in same situation. I am sure juice defender played a part in this.

Well today i woke up at 640 am and used the internet n fb ect for roughly i would say 1 hour sent 20 texts restarted the phone and did a synch all ect and after 2 hours i was at around 70 percent is this normal for this amount of use.. it had about 40 min standby time out of the full 2 hours.. ect.. or is this a problem.. by the way abou tthe apps causing the phone to stay awake, theres alot of popular apps that do this like fb, shazam falshlight, so r we supposed to delete these all..

There is also a setting that prevents any apps from updating in the background.

Yeah, I would definitely agree.

thanks z mann so would you say the juice im losing is about normal for what i explained

That may be a tough call. I would say a lot a variables play into that. Has your battery "broken in", what was your cell coverage strength? If you phone is using more power to maintain connection, this can drastically affect battery.

well did yet another test played the green hornet in 3d with brightness at 60 percent for 20 minutes and i lost 10 percent juice so go figure in about 1 hr watching the movie i can expect to lose 30 percent , does this sound normal consumption with my test

can someone post the instructions for calibrating the battery? ive found a lot on various forums(here, XDA, etc) and isnt sure which one is the best for the e3d XP
