The Officially Official Verizon Rep "Source" Thread

Sorry for the X-post but I posted this in the Dec9 rumor thread before I saw this one.

I know there's been 8,000 of these already and almost all are heresay. However, I thought I'd share my experience.

I called a local VZW store (Grand Rapids, MI) to ask when it was being released. I talked to a very friendly chap (rep) who was pretty exited about the phone too and he expressed his frustration that they weren't being given the green light.

He didn't have a release date and said he'd hear rumors that 12/9 was supposed to be it, but nothing official. He did say that their tech guy said that it was due to "problems OTA-ing". He also said that it likely had nothing to do with the 4G outage or the SIM card issue on the Razr and Bionic (though I didn't know the Bionic had issues).

Take that for what it's worth, though the rep I spoke with also talked to his inventory guy who said they didn't have any phones in stock and that "no Verizon stores did." I told him that I'd seen pictures of them in store and the inventory guy said that "it must have been a reseller, but they can't sell them for 3 days after we do."

He gave me his number and told me I could text him whenever to get more updates and he'd hold a phone for me, but that was it.

Take it for the free electrons that it's worth...

yeah stores definitely have them. I've seen thirty of them with my own eyes.
 
I have to do some errands for work tomorrow and while I'm out, I am going to the two nearest Verizon stores tomorrow anyway to see if I can convince anyone at either of them to sell me a Nexus.
 
Was just in a local corporate store with my father. He was having problems with his OG's touchscreen so I went with him to help him out. He couldn't dial the number 2 or even get into the apps drawer. So I asked the sales associate that asks you to sign in at the front about the Nexus. She said that they had them in stock, but they couldn't sell them because "We can't control when they are released. It's up to Google when we are allowed to sell them." I tried not to laugh and politely told her that it was Verizon that was holding up the phone not Google.

A lot of them are uninformed. The company keeps them out of the loop. There is no reason to trash on a employee of a company because you and I spend time on forums like these trying to figure out what all is going on. They assume all they need to know will come from Verizon, and you can't fault them for that.

There is no reason to bash on Verizon employees because they don't know when this phone is coming out or even why it isn't out yet. A lot of them are grossly uninformed by thier managers and even regional leads.

She really didn't have anything to say about that. I did ask her if they had a dummy or a test phone that I could see. She went into the back and them came out and said that didn't have one. I laughed and said, "Sure, you have a brand new phone in stock and none of you have opened a box to play with it. OK." Then she tried to sell me FIOS.

Good luck and bring some extra cash :eek: I was at the sore yesterday playing around with one (manager is a friend) and we looked up in the computer and the price they had listed was $9,999.99 (or something close) which was to prevent reps from selling them. The phone felt great in my hand and I was very pleased with the hardware, everything seemed to run just fine.

There is reason to bash when an employee spreads misinformation. She didn't know the reason, she shouldn't have said anything. Doesn't really piss me off, but that is 100% ignorant and employees are representatives of the company they work for. That was really my point.
 
for what its worth, went to best buy today to buy my daughter a xmas present, strolled by the cell phone dept. guy asked me if he can help me and i said just wondering if the nexus is out yet, he answered right away "tomorrow", i asked if they had any in stock he said they had 20 locked up in the back. who knows whats going to happen we keep getting different stories

Yeah, if they don't know a secret, then they can't spread it. That is common in retail and any consumer facing position. These folks have a tough job - someone comes in wanting to talk about an item that they know virtually nothing about, but the customer has spent hours scouring the internet for information on it, and pieced together a bunch of rumors that they KNOW are truths. :-!

Just did an Online chat and the CSR said there has been no release date from Google or Samsung, then he tried to cross sell the Rezound. Needless to say, I ended that chat pretty quick.
 
Just went to call my local store and the overflow call went to a regional call center in Pittsburgh. CSR still saying 12/9 for the release. Take it for what you will but I am putting more faith in a soft release.

Are you 100000000000000% sure that what she said isn't true? If not then you can't claim she is spreading misinformation.

I can't get over how everyone around here is so sure about what they THINK they know. We have probably sifted through more misinformation on this forum than anyone and most of us have used to form our own ideas about what's happening. That's fine, but that does not make it FACT. Total hypocrisy!

Since there doesn't seem to be a consensus that it won't be out tomorrow, I'm lead to believe that there is still a chance. It might be wishful thinking but the stores have the phone in stock, CSRs haven't been uniformly informed about it, and there is still no official word from Verizon.

If tomorrow comes and passes with no new phone in my hands, then so be it but at this point, any day is possible.
 
I have fabricated a Lowell McAdam mask and will be visiting my local corp store tomorrow and demanding many nexii...

I have a feeling that whether or not stores are suppose to sell the phone, some will. I don't know if there is any ploy, but since it seems some still think the phone will go on sale tomorrow I bet some, not knowing and having the phone in stock, will sell it. I might make some calls around here to some stores to see what they say.
