Not sure what he's thinking but it might be that he's being payed by a competitor or is a fanboy. Or he could be right. Headphone jack dying? I don't think so. Wireless shouldn't be a requirement. Headphone jacks are still very universal. Heck, I bet the military still depends on wired headphones vs. wireless, ain't got no time for battery charging or tinkering with tech. Just plug it in and go. Buying a laptop or PC with no audio jack is absolutely appalling. I personally don't believe in trashing tech that still works, e-waste is a big issue that consumers don't know about. Kids in third world country melt computer parts for gold scraps.

The V30 holds its own regardless of the DAC. And it is possible that the headphone jack becomes one of those things that goes away because not enough people care enough to buy devices that have them in enough numbers to justify its existence. People used to care about removable battery. I still do. People used to care about IR blaster. I still do.

Verge is actually right.i follow him even more after they found out the V30 screen issues and he is right about it.
Jacks are dying ,agree it or not and I blame the fukcing iPhone for it.also other companies at the same time due to their immature decision of following apples footstep

As much as tech nerds want to believe it's a good thing, it's not. It's purely business and that's really all. Corporate money grab. Wireless accessories that cost $150-$300 will be extra profit, while we will start to see perfectly useable headphones thrown in the dump. Proof? I don't have it (except for the fact Apple charges for patented use of their lightning port). But can you prove that some business and government people are corrupt? Not really. Wireless will never transmit a good of a signal as wired. Imagine huge PA systems being connected via Bluetooth or studio speakers and recording microphones being wireless. Absolutely not, that's absurd. Okay, using USB C audio. What if you need to charge your phone? Can't listen to music. Only 1 port available. Take it or leave it.

I agree since Apple is doing it, others are less afraid to do it. And believe it or not, all manufactures secretly envy the love for Apple products so they wanna be like them. See other manufacture employees at companies using Apple, it's common. Jacks may be dying in the smartphone industry, but will never be completely eliminated. Blind people trying to tinker with Bluetooth? Forget about it. Military people trying to tinker with Bluetooth earphones for a military operation? Ain't got time for that. People are using that darn dongle for the headphone jack, people still love the classic plug and play headphones and they hate not having a headphone jack (I've asked every Apple fan and they said the same thing). Steve Jobs intended the iPhone have the 3.5mm jack, he loves it. He's a visionary. Apple's new CEO is greedy, and lacks innovation. The iPhone has not changed it's appearance since the passing of Steve. Apple is running out of ideas.

I guess you haven’t asked every Apple users
Indeed, they lack innovation. Hence every other manufacturer’s will to copy them.
The iPhone hasn’t changed its appearance, indeed.
Like Galaxy S to S7, HTC One, OnePlus, Sony Xperia
They’re all running out of ideas, I guess.

Blind people trying to tinker with Bluetooth? Forget about it.
How can you say this with a straight face if you haven’t the faintest idea about their limitations.

I think you have it backwards there.
The military was and is still pioneer when it comes to inventions. God knows how far beyond they are with stuff you can’t imagine. The last thing they need is to be dependent on outdated corded stuff.
Wireless has the future and you know it.

It’s safe to assume that you’re projecting your own hard feeling against Apple here, rather than being objective

Actually he's got a good point about all of this.

The majority of IPhone people whom I know would rather have normal wired headphones and don't be so certain about the military, they still go by the K.I.S.S. policy on many things. While the services may be great for innovators there are other aspects why a dedicated wired connection is preferred to a wireless one.

If it wasn’t for the fact that Apple forced Bluetooth / wireless down my throat, I would never have gotten around to enjoy listening to music during my commute.
I despised the wires and that made me listen less to music than I cared to admit. With the AirPods I listen triple times more to music.

I’m not complaining.

Enjoy your dongle. Or enjoy low quality resampled Bluetooth quality. I laugh when I see Apple users with dongles and Airpods, it looks ridiculous. An iPod with no headphone jack? Common' man, this wasn't Steve Jobs' vision.

Wait, did Google improved the audio experience when they removed the headphone jack? Not really.

What if a military soldier forgot to charge his Bluetooth headset while during battle? It's over.

Wow.. I've never disliked wearing wired headphones since back in the Sony Walkman days on mobile devices. I could always run the wires out of the way.

Now I am not talking about cheapo equipment that makes any music sound bad but decent quality types...

Wireless is OK but your not going to find it is the best.. and couple this phones playback quality makes it even better.

Granted I know some people don't really care about music quality, and that's entirely their choice, but they are missing out on a better experience overall..

I haven't spoke to an Apple fan that actually liked the idea of the removal, they were hardcore Apple fans and loved using iTunes and the 3.5mm jack. Eventually most people will be forced to switch over, but I'm glad Samsung and LG is staying true to their fans and keeping/improving them. The main reason why wired is better is the low maintenance and simplicity/familiarity. I have Bluetooth in my car but enjoy using wired bc it's reliable and quicker, and sounds much better.

Bluetooth has always been around, you could've bought any Bluetooth earphones. The jack could have been left for those that use it.

One persons opinion. Some bash the iPhone relentlessly when it's one of the best phones on the market. Some bash Samsung, others bash Android as a whole.

Dongle is untouched, in the box, low quality resamples? That’s such BS I’m not even gonna dignify with a response.

Do AirPods look stupid? Hell, no. They look elegant, nice and cool.

You don’t know anything about Steve’s vision and you won’t know either. You’re predicting what should have been his vision, but that’s only your personal imagination. Let it go.

Yeah, like military have run of the mill market tech on them. You pretend to know everything, yet it’s all your narrow minded version of twisting the facts.

True that. I didn’t like those Bluetooth thingies though. The AirPods were really liberating when I tried them on in the Store.

They make very affordable adaptors that allow you to charge and listen. It's not a big deal to everyone.

I'm not knocking Bluetooth but I have to be honest I don't think airpods look cool. They look like earbuds that lost their wire. They also look like they are very easy to lose if they get bumped out of your ear. I would prefer them without the stem.
