[THEMES] Optimus s Gingerbread Themes

Re: [THEMES] Optimus s Gingerbread Themes (WIP) -- 9/22/11

Okay I was trying to figure out how to edit or create themes and I'm seeing different instructions and such so I just started poking around. I extracted a theme and used apk manager 4.9 to decompile "systemUI.apk" which appears to have most of the theme elements. If I were to just edit the png files and then recompile and resign the apk would that work? I'm really just looking for the easiest way to edit theme colors.

Does the custom gmail/sms colored icons need to be updated to use the latest gmail? I installed it, worked perfectly till gmail updated itself. After that I lost email push/sync. Uninstalling the last gmail update fixed it.

Thanks

Just wondering, could someone build an app that would flash themes for you (CM7 style?) It would come in handy for people like me who change themes every other day :D

Re: [THEMES] Optimus s Gingerbread Themes (WIP) -- 9/22/11

So I'm just using 7zip to edit the crap out of all the png files within a theme but I'm noticing there appear to be a bunch of png files that are unnecessary. For instance there is a png for the "4G" icon which is obviously pointless because the Optimus is only 3g....although I could probably edit a png to make it say 7g or something lol. Anyway my question is can those extra png files be removed without breaking or any signs of anal leakage? lol

gROM has one!

Sent from my LS670 using Tapatalk

Though gROM has it included by default I believe you can install it individually....just search around for ROM Updater....NOT ROM MANAGER!!!!!

Edit: Nope I was wrong...searched around and I didn't see it for download so it is only available on gROM.

I'd like to know if you'd be ok with me modifying some of your themes, also... How can I do that?

I don't mind at all if you mod them, unfortunately I cant go into complete detail at the moment since I am on my phone ..... but real quickly, open up 1 of the themes and inside of those 2 files you will mod the images in the drawable-mdpi folders. Turn off the signature verification in recovery, and flash the theme after you have modded it.

I can confirm this works to edit most of the theme elements but for things such as fonts you have to edit xml files. Personally I have yet to touch these because I really only care about theme colors but I imagine I will at some point just to see if I can make a completely custom theme from scratch.

Re: [THEMES] Optimus s Gingerbread Themes (WIP) -- 9/22/11

Would it be possible to put lloyd on the blue notification background from the chillout theme and send me the png? I tried but what I did was copy him from the bluetouch theme and and paste lol. Then tried using the color picker to paste the same color around lloyd which worked but when the phone started the status bar fc'd lol. Transparency was still set properly I think but i dunno.

Edit: Never mind I figured it out. A mechanic is only as good as his tools and there is no denying Photoshop Elements 10 is better than IrfanView lol. Still trying to figure out how to keep Lloyd non transparent though....Never Mind got that figured out too :)
