Thoughts on the JB OTA Install

Anyone else have this calender issue I mentioned above???

Can't say that I've seen that problem yet with mine. You could try clearing the data and cache from the Calendar app in Settings/Apps/All, then re-syncing your Google calendar--this of course is assuming that you rely on Google Calendar, and not the non-sync'ed Phone Calendar. If you rely on the Phone Calendar, don't clear the data, because then you'll irreparably lose all of your events.

Are you using the stock calendar or the Google calendar? FWIW, mine (using Google's) seems fine as far as I can tell. I should add I don't use the widget though.

I am using whatever calender is on the phone, which I assume is stock. Widget or no widget, the problem is the same. The calender sometimes displays properly, other times it doesn't show anything.

This would be the stock calendar. I don't have anything to add to the suggestions above except that I find the Google calendar superior.

I wonder why Moto didn't just swap out their stock Calendar for Google Calendar. Did they still need the stock app to integrate with MotoCast or something?

Looks like I may have found the fix... I hope.

Did some searching and this is a known issue for jellybean on the Samsung galaxy s3. I guess it is for the RAZR MAXX too.

Anyway I had to delete my Google account under settings/accounts/Google. I then re added my account, sync everything, and all is well.

Let's hope it stays that way... If it doesn't I'll repost.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Re the Google calendar in the play store there seems to be a lot of bad reviews re syncing issues so I just keep using the stock calendar

Who knows? I'm betting it will be gone in future builds.

Future OS builds? Unless there's a security update required, the DROID RAZR is done getting updates.

I'd agree that the Razr and Maxx are done getting OS updates, but I wouldn't write off the possibility of small updates here or there in the future to address minor glitches. After all, Verizon just recently updated the HTC Droid Incredible (the original one) with a small fix for a random reboot issue.

I never knew there was a difference. What is the difference if you don't mind my asking?

I haven't compared the two apps closely, but they're definitely separate. If you go to Google Play and search for Google Calendar, you'll find the app with the option to Install (rather than Update), so it's clearly a separate app. It's kind of like the difference between the stock Android Browser and Chrome--they're similar in a number of ways, but Chrome ultimately has more functionality (although I still prefer the stock Browser because it's a little faster, and has that slick Quick Menu you can activate from the Labs menu).

Not only that but the gallery wont display my SD card pictures and it also just closes on me after a few seconds ... already did my FDR

This update is buggy as hell! My auto rotate lags big time. We're talking 30 plus seconds. A lot of stuff lags. Apps lag, the internet lags etc. Anyone else having problems like this?

I updated last weekend with an encrypted Razr Maxx and went through **** because of it. Long story short, if you've got encryption on, TURN IT OFF before you update and back up all your files while you're at it. I lost everything that wasn't synced with Verizon/Google servers.

The cache trick seems to have worked. The only thing that's still bugging me is the key board and auto correct. It seems a bit off compared to before.

There's new settings for auto correct there are 3 different levels of sensitivity that you can choose. I have it on very aggressive since I type fast. Its not always correct blunt close enough. Check your keyboard settings .

I was using swift key 3 but it really started to annoy me always giving me wrong corrections and then not letting me recorrect the word after I type it.

Hey guys, you all seem like smart fellas. I got the update two weeks ago and HATED it for so many reasons. I went to Verizonand got them to send me a new phone hitch I have. Once again the damn phone auto downloaded the update and I have the 'Install Later Install Now' prompt. I want nothing to do with JB. I gotta learn how to root my phone but does anyone know of a way once it's done on how to either delete the update download and/or the prompt forcing me to update?

What don't you like about the Jellybean update? I had a few issues with the auto rotate and things lagging a bit. I did the cache cleaning and never have had this issues repeat themselves. I recently rooted my phone and it made jellybean even better.

Mine's been pretty smooth. The main glitch I've noticed is the weird capitalize-every-word-without-autospace when Swyping in a browser.
