Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

I am waiting until i here more....

Official Price of phone
Official Price of 4G plan
Phone Officially released on VZ website or stores.

As for someone who said sprint has $10 surcharge, don't forget Sprint plan is $30 cheaper to begin with. They are still $20 less then VZ (even after $10 surcharge).

If data > $30 I am out to ATT or Sprint.

I'm pretty sure you can always cancel the pre-order, and you don't get 50 dollars back straight up, but you get a 50 dollar gift card to BB

Here's my email exchange with Amazon Wireless:

Hello from Amazon Wireless,

I am terribly sorry but we have not heard when, or if, we will be carrying the HTC Thunderbolt. My best guess is that we will but I cannot promise anything.

Best regards,
Bryan T

Does Amazon plan on carrying the HTC Thunderbolt for Verizon? If so, any
details on availability?

I'll be departing now to pre-order from Best Buy... I'll let you guys know if I'm able to get any more info out of the BBM guys.

Amazon is a 3rd party retailer and with VZW and BB's exclusivity agreement..at least for maybe 3-6 months Best buy will be an exclusive 3rd party retailer of the Tbolt.

Guys... just emerged from Best Buy with my pre-order receipt. I was given a $50 Gift card when I preordered!

This effectively makes the T-Bolt $199 at Best Buy as far as I can tell...

I can't "pre order" until the 9th because my contract is has 3 days left until early upgrade..but I would NOT be pre ordering it without the exact prices announced by vzw....its ridicules!

Did they give you a date it would be available for you to pick it up and a price tag for the 4g data and the phone?

Just 2 many unknowns to pre-order right now, I think anyway.

Pre-order in hand

I have also just pre-ordered at Best Buy. I think I might've been the first at this store. The $50 pre-order charge goes on a gift card, which can be applied toward the total price of the phone (I understood it to be $250 including the pre-order).

The Best Buy rep also confirmed for me that the release date would be 14th and that I'll receive a call the day before to arrange a pickup time. I did not think to ask about the 4G service price because I honestly don't care; I was going to get this phone pretty much regardless of price. (This is an indication of just how much I detest my Storm.)

Oh ok... so you're saying its kind of like their insurance policy in case you never come back to buy the phone, meaning when I show up (hopefully on the 14th) they will charge me $250, at which time I'll use the $50 card.

And unsurprisingly, the BBM guy had no info on 4G pricing, exact date, etc. I live in a non-LTE area, so I'm really hoping there is no additional charge or that it's optional.

Everyone is held up on the date plan final price. There is a return policy. If you don't like it or agree you return it get your money back and move on. They told me it was going to he $249.00. I asked about the SD card they could not answer me. The data plan is the only reason I would pay $249.00. He said I can return it if not.

You can still pre-order. They'll look it up on the system and see when the upgrade date is. As long as it's before the 14th, you're good to go.

I just returned from my Best Buy as well. My rep actually scheduled an appointment for pickup (10 am Feb. 14th). He told me the price would be 250 (ending up as 200 with the deposit). Just like Apathosaurus I'm ready to upgrade from my battle worn Storm.

I just left BB with my pre-order. I got there about 15 minutes after open and they stated I was the first person they'd done a pre-order for at that store. I asked about the date, she said the 14th was what she had heard. However, she did indicate she felt that was a strange date to release something (being a Monday). She felt it was more likely the 13th. Either way, she said she would call me when it was in.

I didn't ask about the pricing plans either. Doubt they have anything if they can't even sign in blood on the release date.

You can preorder even without an upgrade date I dont have one until dec 11

I also have just returned from my local Best Buy. I preordered but at first it didn't seem like I would be able to. The reps had no clue how to do it in the system. They finally figured it out. There were 4 of us preordering at store opening.

I did not get any kind of receipt...just the gift card. Is there anything saying I can't use the gift card before the phone comes in and just paying the full amount then? I have a stereo installation next week and this way I can spend the gift card and not worry about changing my mind on the Thunderbolt and being stuck with $50 to spend.
