Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

Hmmm, so they're offering people the option to "hold" a phone for a mere $50 but they aren't publishing an actual price ... so if you plunk down $50 and find out the actual price would break your wallet, do ya get your $50 back? I don't like those odds ... I'll wait until the phone's officially for sale in the store complete with actual price tag.

And until we have a definite answer on 4g pricing

No official release date.

No official 4g pricing plan.

No official phone price.

Brilliant...

Well they seemed pretty sure data pricing would remain the same. As for the others, like release date. I agree, its bs

Sprint is charging a $10 premium for data on any new phone activation on top of their $30 per line charge. This isn't for just their 4G phones, it is -any- new phone effective recently. Sprint even previously charged the $10 premium for 4G to Evo owners that were not even in WiMAX areas.

As much as I hate to admit it, but cellular data is going to go up. There is increased cost in bandwidth that has to be paid to backhaul providers (fiber owners or level three isps); and then of course the hardware investments, labor for installation, and overhead for everything related to project management. If VZW decided to charge $10 more for 4G data, then it is a price to pay to play with the big boys (metaphor for latest tech/devices).

The rumored $250 contract price is a bit more than we're all use to, but as it has been discussed over and over again, there are many features which justify the additional cost.

That said, I am going to be walking into my local store in less than four hours to plop my money down on my reservation. Until then, here is some information on BB's site about the TB: Verizon Wireless: Verizon Store - Best Buy Mobile

So I see that there are some reasonable peeps out there. I thought I was the only one when it came to ordering up a t-bolt right now. I agree with not having virtually any information about the phone, so I can't pre-order at this juncture. If anyone from Verizon, HTC, or Best Buy are reading this by chance, please give us something. We'd be much obliged. Thanks.

GOD!!! give us a price of the phone. im not worried about monthly as im sure they wont change those.

im hoping the super bowl ad will give the 14th as release date an verizon will finally admit info for the phone

Can't wait for this phone. I however will wait for some offical announcement from Verizon on price, etc. Also wait to get from Verizon so I can use my last NE2 credit.

im pretty sure we will get the same $30 unlimited data charges. but this is insane that we still dont no the price of the phone an the release date....i no tonights ad will give some info. but verizon def doesnt wanna take any eyes off that crappy iphone. so we no xoom an bolt ads but u no there is gonna be a iphone as well. i will laugh if verizon just shows the bolt an says coming soon, then iphone commerical gives price date an all lol

I also think that data will remain $30/month unlimited until LTE is more widespread.

I'm not planning on watching the superbowl so hopefully someone here can record the TB commercial and upload it to youtube!

Thanks!

Yeah I would assume the price will remain $30/month as well until it's available in more areas, or maybe they'll just switch it up in 2013 when LTE is going to be available across their whole network. And forget the superbowl, I just want some TBolt information!

Washington Post story from Thursday hints at Amazon making phone available on the 13th.

Here's my email exchange with Amazon Wireless:

Hello from Amazon Wireless,

I am terribly sorry but we have not heard when, or if, we will be carrying the HTC Thunderbolt. My best guess is that we will but I cannot promise anything.

Best regards,

Does Amazon plan on carrying the HTC Thunderbolt for Verizon? If so, any
details on availability?

I'll be departing now to pre-order from Best Buy... I'll let you guys know if I'm able to get any more info out of the BBM guys.

Want to. REALLY want to. But refuse to until I hear about the LTE rates and terms. The iPhone people got their data deal. What about us?
