Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

i had a feeling the launch date would be pushed back to the 17th. i am going to be on a business trip that week. here to hoping that there is a preorder if it truly does come out that week!

I to hope there is a preorder for the phone. I dont think i can be at my local verizon store at open that day and idk how many will be shipped to each store.

I am quickly losing patience with this. I give them until a week from tomorrow to make an announcement. If there isn't one, I'm moving on.

Looks like my first post will be my last. Been lurking for a while. Been waiting since my Droid died in November. Thanks for all the information and speculation. This board is good therapy! :-)

However, I've had it with Verizon. They take us for granted like we're their herd of cattle. I can understand any release date they might choose, but I can't understand not communicating with us. A smaller company would "kill" for this many excited fans lining up to buy their latest offering. Not Verizon - they're too big. We're insignificant.

I may not love the MyTouch 4G, and I definitely don't expect to love the tiny network. But maybe I'll be valued just a little bit by the company. And that'll make all the difference.

If you hang around for the Thunderbolt, I hope it's all you thought it would be and more. And I hope you really do get it soon, not "soon".

Well I couldn't wait so I picked up a used Inc today. Wow it's very nice. So far battery is not a issue with me, I'm just using the tips that are in the General FAQs thread.

Preach on! I agree 1,000,000,000% on no communication and lack of respect from Verizon. I have no complaint about the release date. I DO take offense to Verizon not respecting their customer base enough to give some sort of update past "Coming Soon" or "Striking Soon". Here's to HOPING for the 17th...and no later.

They could at least say that it should be out by the end of March, barring any technical delays.

They still have a lot of time to make the announcement.

Oh I know. I'm just saying that since they know how crazy people are about this phone, it would be a wise idea on their part to reaffirm that it will be launched before the end of the month.

if they wanted to do that they would have done a long time ago. They will just make an announcement whenever they feel they are ready. No matter how much noise we make here on the forums, they are not going to be moved.

Couple of points. It could be that we (TB groupies) are being used intentionally to promote the phone. Sometimes nothing being said is better then saying a whole lot about it. And it's FREE. How many people here are complaining or talking about this outside of this form? When ever you walk into a crowded store be it BB or VZW and ask about the TB there are other people standing around who hear about the latest and greatest phone that the phone geeks are clamoring for. Word of mouth is the best advertising.

Second, lets assume that VZW is trying to figure out how to charge for LTE. What if I want the phone because of new technology but dont care about LTE speeds. Would they just turn off the LTE on my phone so even if I'm in a LTE area I won't be able to access that part of the network?

Look at AT&T and see how they charge for data. The don't distinguish between 3G and 4G but charge on a data usage plan.

And last but not least. I'll wait till the phone is late, which is after Q1 or March 31st, then I'll probably get a DX.

I'm not saying this to be rude or to offend anyone one here, but if you think that any big corp. the size of Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, etc, really give two hoots about you, you are sadly mistaken or delusional, or just simply naive. To switch to another carrier for some of the reason's mentioned above is just plain silly. Honestly, do you think that one of the others really care about you more than the others do? I have been on AT&T, prior to switching to Verizon and the coverage and quality of the network over at Big V is much better than at the other one. Sure, it would be great if you called customer service and they knew you by name and made you feel like you were talking to a family member, but that just isn't reality. The bottom line for me is ........how does my phone work on their network! Price certainly influences all of us to some degree, but I would rather pay a little more for something that "works" than to pay less for something that is spotty some of the time.

So, having said all of that, I am going to wait for the TB to arrive and for Verizon to announce the Launch date (for the very first time) and then I'm going to go buy one.

First, thanks for the lecture. I'm sure the people above that are leaving Verizon will appreciate it. Now on to my point... Verizon does not have 100 million customers. They have 100 million individuals who have chosen them for one reason or another. If, because of the (perceived) delay of the phone, they jump ship and the phone flops, I'm sure Verizon will get plenty of feedback. They care, believe me. I have asked to leave on more than one occasion (over different issues) and each time they have done something to make me happy.

The truth is, Verizon has not only not announced the phone, many of their store employees don't know much more than the fact that the phone exists, if that. After the one week advertising blitz of 2/14 (Hmm... why do you think they did that, THEN pulled the ads? I'm curious. You're obviously one of those "no delay" posters, so I'd REALLY like your thoughts on that) they have acted as if the phone didn't exist. Maybe it doesn't. If that's the case, and we have no evidence to the contrary, I think anyone who switches for another phone, particularly an HTC 4.3" device, is acting rationally. If we can't go off of the rumors as so many helpful posts point out, then we go by the reality. The reality at this point is that the phone does not exist and is not set for release.

VZW has approximately 100 million cell contracts. At least that's what their financial perspective claims.
I'm bringing this up to point that a couple 1000 people don't mean squat to VZW bottom line. And that's all they care about

Exactly...if they have 100 million customers and they sold 1 million *phones that is a measly one percent...I think endagdet or another site stated that only 30% of the customers even have smartphones...I don't think we are Verizon's "base"...no way that the the tbolt outsells the *phone at launch. I believe many of us are thinking that we are way too important in Verizon's business model...

The tbolt will probably be my first smartphone, which sucks because I didn't know all this drama was going to blow up, I just thought I was going to walk in about February 14th and pick up a phone...so it sucks that I couldn't do that. My wife's year long deployment in Kuwait ends next weekend...something tells me I'll have other things to look forward to if the phone doesn't drop on the 10th!!!

I think Verizon is hesitant to publically make an annoucement for the phone for that reason. This isnt just another phone being added to an existing network, this is the FIRST 4G phone on a new 4G mobile network. I dont mind them not releasing "earlier than expected" if they get the phone right and work out any kinks. If they released the thunderbolt and it dropped a ton of calls the media would have a field day. They want to take the time to ensure that al runs smoothly. If I have to wait an extra few weeks to have the tbolt in my hands for that reason, fine with me.

Did anyone notice the Skype info? I did a Verizon search on google from my Droid and choose 4G LTE Network under Verizon Wireless (on the google page). Then on the bottom of that screen you have Icons, Home, What's 4G etc. Tap the Latest button (sun) and it opens the TB page with 3 tabs Thunderbolt Skype Mobile Rock Band Click on the Skype tab.

Why does it give Skype info there?

Did you get all that? I don't know how to take screen shots or I would have attached pictures.
