Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

There is no date on it...so it could be something old...but that does not look good at all. I am glad that I did not pre-order...I wonder if anyone is bitter enough to say that they are considering buying something else or waiting....if this is a valid and reliable source, this is bad news for us.

Stopped by the Verizon in my local BJ's today to check on the avaliability of my wife's sought after *phone. I find it funny that both the reps said, " Oh, it's not for you? What are you getting?" Me, "Thunderbolt" They both said, "yeah that is what we would do as well" They did say that Verizon wanted to get the *phone people out of the way first before they took on the Thunderbolt, but no firm release date. I told them that they should be getting their mock units soon and they acted suprised. They said how did you know? I said internet...they asked where? I said AC. Now I feel that they can be in the "Know" also!

MrMC: Then, on to the next question, anything about the other phone? Because I almost put in my $50 preorder for it at Best Buy, as they are taking preorders for it

MrMC: I wouldn't want to put $50 towards something I'm not sure about, and I'm so intrigued and hypnotized by the phone. Haha

Derick: Yes, On 2/6, Best Buy announced a pre-sale of the HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE smartphone. This is a Best Buy-only offer however.

MrMC: I was aware of that, and I know Best Buy can't really do anything without Verizon's permission when it comes to actually releasing the device.

MrMC: To be honest, I really would 100% more prefer to buy it at my local Verizon Wireless store than at Best Buy

MrMC: Which is why I've got these questions.

Derick: Correct. Right now, Verizon Wireless has not disclosed any information on Thunderbolt. Until Verizon Wireless discloses that information, it would not be available to this department. But you are able to sign up for our Email Updates and they will let you know if anything comes up. Hover over the Support tab and you will be ale to click on the link from the list.

Derick: I can guarantee that it will be cheaper online than instore.

MrMC: Okay, I'll do that. I just wouldn't want to sign up for a 2 year contract with a 3g phone when 4g is supposedly right around the corner, the way Best Buy was taking preorders, I felt as if it would arrive soon. I also saw that commercial that said "February." You know, the speculation just starts to kill you. Haha

MrMC: If I knew when this phone would come out I'd definitely snatch it up. But I supposed if VZW themselves aren't offering a date you can't really help me out much on that aspect, right?

Derick: Oh its very soon, but we are not allow to say when exactly.

Derick: Yes, that is correct. But it will be out soon. What date did Best Buy say?

MrMC: Best Buy was saying that it would be out on Valentine's Day, exactly 6 days from now. While that sounds a little farfetched and way too close, that's what they specifically told me and reassured me it would be.

Derick: Yeah, someone did their homework!

Derick: Haha!

MrMC: Haha.

Derick: So right now, that is all we got on the phone. Did you want to look into another phone today?

MrMC: Naw, I'm too excited for this phone to look into anything else.

MrMC: More homework for me

MrMC: You have a wonderful day sir.

edit: Look at the bold.

I just had a chat session with a VZW rep online. The only thing he would say about a release date was "It will be released in the first quarter". That's all he knew about it.

Oh well, I tried:(

Time to start looking at Atrix?

Exactly....I am not loyal to any carrier they all suck...so if they delay the TB until end of February I can again consider the Atrix.

Update: Looks like the first Atrix reviews are published and with presale starting on the 13th. Verizon should be careful that they don't shoot in their on foot by delaying the Thunderbolt....There are plenty of people that want to switch carriers and they better don't piss them off;-)

ya...oddly quiet. some of the other forums here have decent news but still all over the board. I called three BBs today and all said 14th......who fackin knows:-[

Verizon got rid of the MIR's for phones that are priced above $150. It is now an instant rebate for phones above that price.

Who knows who their "sources" are, but this explanation for the delays makes complete sense to me.

I know there isn't much point in continuing to speculate, and I know that someone suggested this here a couple of days ago, but I thought some may want to read this: SOURCE: Verizon Delaying Thunderbolt To Prevent Overlap Of iPhone Return Policy | androidGoD.Net/

Help me understand how Verizon loses money, If I get an iPhone today and then return it 2 weeks later? Threre is a $35 restocking fee and the iPhone will instantly be grabbed up by someone else.

why would it matter what phone the user buys? verizon is making a sale anyways and the thunderbolt wil probably cost more then the tbolt also. is a win for verizon either way.

I'm thinking that VZ won't have the TB in stock until the 28th but BB will have it on the 14th.
The only people that would be able to return the Icrap within the 14 days would be the ones that bought it at BB.

Just saying

If they delay to cover 14 days then that means anywhere from the 21st to the 24th (VZW people got their iphones on the 7th, people can pick theirs up on the 10th). If they announce that they will have no MIR's (that was only through mid-Feb originally) on the device then I will hold off till I get back from my vacation to decide. I already have mine pre-ordered at BB so it's mine until I pick it up. I get back on the 28th so I'll have time to think anyway.

Are you sure that it is yours after pre-order? My BB told me that I have the right to pick it up for 24h and then it goes to the next on the pre-order list...

They usually will hold your pre-order for a specific period of time, and if you don't come and pick it up after that time frame has gone up, they will no longer guarantee it to you. Worse comes to worse, you can get your pre-order back on a gift card.

VZW: The first rule of Thunderbolt? You don't talk about Thunderbolt :p
