I love my phone and will be keeping it for sure. This is the best phone I have ever had the pleasure to own. There was a learning curve but I following all of AC's great advice about way to work that out and its worked out now. I can now work all day (9 hr shift) got to the gym and listen to music for another 2 hours and I still have about 35-37% battery when I get home so I'm pleased with that. Do I still carry a charging cable for when I play angry birds to long at work...yes, but other than that I'm good. And the internet speeds are amazing..AMAZING!! and I'm not even in an 4G area yet.

There was a learning curve but I think I've got it now.

This phone isn't for followers..its for leaders..creative leaders that want control over all the great things a phone like this can do. Nothing is perfect but the TB is close.

well your one of the lucky few t0ked. most everyone else on here has had a bad experience with the video sound . video quality is great but the sound is horrible.

Keeping it.

With some tweaks I've been able to get a full days usage out of it,
approximately 2 1/2 hours of usage and 14 hours of standby.
I'll probably get the extended battery if they every come out with a real case that it fits in, no I won't use some ugly pouch.
If that fails I'll try the 1600 mAh battery.

So to the approximately 83% of all of you who are going to keep this phone, is it OK with you that the audio on the video playback is terrible? This, along with the poor customer service responses from HTC and VZW regarding the issue, make this one a dealbreaker for me. Im sending this thunderbolt back to its cloud.

Video on my phone is smooth and in synch with it's audio. All my music plays perfectly. What issues were you seeing? Are/Were these your own videos that you converted?

The videos/music I've played:
- Netflix streaming through PlayOn - perfect
- Videos I took with my old phone - perfect
- Videos I took with the thunderbolt - perfect
- Videos I ripped from my DVD's and then converted - perfect
- All mu music that I ripped from CD's to MP3's - perfect
- YouTube video's - perfect

I have the 1600 mAh one and you'll get the same exact time on it as the stock one, I get 12 - 14 hours on my phone as well with the 1600 mAh.

Keeping mine. I have 4G in my area so it rocks. Battery life not great, can't have it all I guess. Upgraded from Blackberry Curve.

Sound isn't that bad.

I plug my phone into my high end car stereo, and haven't noticed a problem with the sound, if your referring to the built in speaker, every phone I've ever had contained what I would call a crappy speaker, but call sounds clear and loud, I'm happy with the sound.

Thanks, I won't bother with it then, I'll just hope and wait for a case that fits the extended battery

I'm definitely keeping mine. I absolutely love this phone. It does everything I need it to do. Battery life is an issue, but I think that is a trade off you make for such a powerful and versatile device. Pesonally I don't need a phone to last 16 hours on one charge because I'm never too far away from a charger, whether it's at home, the office or the car. And for those days when I am, I will carry a spare battery. The pros far outweigth the cons for me.

Not so much a crappy speaker, you just can't hear anything unless you put your ear ON the speaker....and even then you have to concentrate to hear anything but muffled sound.

LG Revolution looks tempting. Same processor as Thunderbolt but it has HDMI and official netflix.

no i'm not talking about the speaker itself i'm i plug my phone thru my car as well and everything is fine. what i'm talking about is when i'm taking videos on my phone and then play them back on my phone the sound is very low. the videos i've put on my phone from my previous phone sound just fine. theres something wrong with the mic. on the phone. theres a whole thread on this issue on here.

I'm going to Verizon in two hours. I bought two but I'm only returning one. I'm keeping mine, but wifey is most absoutely returning hers. she's right but I'm going to give the phone more time. There are clear tangibles for a return: Already insisted on NOT paying the restocking fee. they agreed.

1. No Skype. Maybe not a big deal but it was heavily promised and not delivered
2. Battery (although somewhat to be expected, this is supposed to be the 'dream after dream' phone)
3. GPS location services problems - VZW services put my home over 300 miles elsewhere.
4. Wife simply finds that they, smartphones, are not actually so smart but that they require you to be an engineer to manage it.

I'll be keeping mine. This phone is nice, it's better than my blackberry tour, original motorola droid, my non updating Samsung fascinate & the totally locked down Verizon iPhone. The battery life isn't great @ all but it's a phone that has a lot going on. I'll just get an extended battery if it boils down to it. I'm loving HTC products & I'm thinking about purchasing the HTC flyer when it comes out

Might take it back and pray for the pyramid to hit Verizon

I had (still have) a DInc prior to the Thunderbolt and while I am enjoying the TBolt, I don't know that its so much of a better experience. I'm seriously debating just taking it back and holding off for something along the lines of the Pyramid... though with my luck it'll hit AT&T or something stupider like never come to the states at all lol. Overall I don't have any complaints about the TBolt besides a bit of battery battering

I am keeping mine but might see about a exchange...My power button is almost below the case and is very hard to wake up and lock...I actually have to hit it a certain way for it to wake up or lock...I got the extended battery and even though it makes it bigger and heavier, I love it! I am like one poster, touch it and I will break your arm!

1. You can use other apps like Yahoo Messenger. I persoanlly tested this from my TBolt to a PC...worked very well over 4G but did not work over 3G. There is also Fring, Tango and I think GTalk. I know, I cannot wait for skype myself because its something most people already use and most people do not want to adopt other apps just for you...
2. Get the extended battery, yea I know, it gonna cost you but its well worth it. I am getting 2 days on 1 charge.
3. Cannot comment on this...it always found where I am w/o issue.
4. As to most smartphones, there is a learning curve...

I'm sad to say that I've just cancelled my service and arranged to send the Tbolt back to Amazon.

It's a great device, but because of spotty service in my location, I just can't rationalize the expense and 2-year commitment right now. I'll be moving soon, and maybe I'll get it again if I'm in an LTE area.

Thankfully my disappointment is mitigated by the fact that so far I have gotten good and friendly service from Verizon and especially from Amazon Wireless. Other than pro-rated phone/data charges, my 14-day trial didn't cost anything -- no shipping or activation fee. If you decide to get a Tbolt, I definitely recommend Amazon!

And I owe massive thanks to the AC community for the great information and feedback that helped me with this decision and undoubtedly will help me with whichever device I end up with -- Thank you!

Look I ordered 3 batteries and wall charger from eBay for $11 also .. plus if you input this code in your dialer *#*#4636#*#* exactly as is you get a secret menu and you can turn off LTE and put your phone on cdma auto (3g) this will Sooo help battery issues.. yea the bionic sounds nice 512 RAM though and yea dual core ooh how fast do you think your gonna go really? TV is moving pretty fast no problems here. Thunderbolt build quality is great htc sense is the best UI (if u like stock UIs) only thing I will give bionic is screen hmdi out cool but there is a micro usb to hdmi cable doubt I ever use ... I will go to at&t and take a look at the atrix tonight just to be sure

Don't fault TB for Skype....uuum Skype is ready.. don't fault TB for netflix uuum. Netflix isn't ready.. 1st phone running LTE and one of the 1st with this new chipset you will have to be a little patient
