Totally disappointed with the phone returned it after a week. I don't feel I got good value for the price of the phone. I have an Incredible and it has it's faults but I was going for a phone with bigger screen and the 4g. HTC screens suck and it seems more amplified by the larger screen. The battery life was worse than on my Incredible and the 2.0 Sense didn't reflect, IMO, a remarkable change from the current version I use. About the only thing I miss was the speed. I'll wait. I am disappointed that Verizon waited this long to put out this phone because it is a year old. The upgraded specs are not sufficient enough for me to say it isn't an HTC EVO. If Verizon would just get out of Apple's ass now, maybe they can focus on getting us fresher products.

I've owned the following:

Blackberry Storm
Blackberry Tour

Motorola DROID
HTC DROID Eris

Palm Pre

HTC Incredible
Motorola DROID 2
Samsung Fascinate

The Fas satisfied me, but the Thunderbolt's definitely not the phone I want, it's the one after that...just like they said, lol!

Android processors and hardware is advancing so fast. It is great to see things advancing quickly like this, but in order to enjoy the upgraded processors and speeds, we have to have a battery that is able to power these devices so that we can use them. Like I said, I do not have a Thunderbolt, but it seems crazy to only equip the phone with a 1400 mah battery. People seem to be crippling their phone just to be able to make it last for 5 hours (example: Dimming brightness down to 25%). Bottom line is developers need to focus on improving the actual battery itself now.

Giving the phone a cheaper battery was a way of keeping phone prices down it is that simple. We've all come to expect that $199 price point but how many of you all remember just a few years ago when the top tier phones were $299. That's also why we didn't get a headset or a separate USB and power adapters (cheaper for them to combine them). My BB8830 and 8330 Curve came with all 3 PLUS the software CD. Yes they gave us a 32gb memory card but it is also a measly class 2 card.

With moderate use the stock battery works fine for most people, but when you first get the phone the battery is not broken in and you are using it way more than moderately. HTC and VZW know this.

This is easily the best phone I have ever owned. Battery issues are cured simply by turning the display down to 25-30%. I have zero issues with the phone.

25-30% doesn't work for me out side during daylight hours, I have to have mine at 100% auto. :(

I will be keeping mine, but all these complaints (cracked housing, peeling kickstands, and light leakage) make me hesitant to buy another htc device. Although my tbolt is perfectly fine, I have to say that moto's hardware and build quality is 10x better than htc's.

I don't think so - if that were the case they would have sold a slim heavy duty battery as well. I would have gladly paid for a non-hump battery that lasted all day.

well they didn't have the extended battery and since today is day 14, returned it. back to the x, to all the tbolt owners still, enjoy ur phone. it was great while it lasted for me.

If I switch carriers it would be for the EVO 3D. I need a FFC and a decent LED.

Give it 6 months and Verizon will have a better version of that too (under a completely different name of course since Evo is sprints branding). This happens with all of Sprint's flagship phones (Samsung Intercept, Palm Pre, Evo 4G).

Ive had my extended battery for almost a week now. Had to order it but it was free overnight shipping.

And also like they show in the commercial - it has to be plugged into the cities electrical grid to give it enough power to run..... I wonder if that guy had his screen turned down to 20%, turned of his 4G, turned off GPS, turned off Blockbuster, turned off all auto sysc's, etc......

i paid $30 extra for a 1 year contract instead of the 2 year contract. whats this extra $125 to $150?

Yes it is typically $30-70 extra for a one year contract in my experience as well. With NE2 and annual upgrades done now there is really no incentive to go for two years any more.

I'm definitely keeping the phone. I got it launch day and have not thought once about returning the device. Coming from a Droid Eris, this phone was a huge upgrade and really made the Android system run very well.

To everyone who says they can't get a work day's worth of a charge out of the factory battery I say this: What do you do at work exactly??

I have no issues with the battery, it hasn't died on me yet (at an inconvenient time, anyway)

Love this thing, can't wait to root it!

bad unit

Not so much a crappy speaker, you just can't hear anything unless you put your ear ON the speaker....and even then you have to concentrate to hear anything but muffled sound.

maybe you have a bad one, I actually find the volume on the headphone very loud, {I never have it turned all the way up} and clear

The normal price when I bought was 249.99 for two year... and 349.99 for a one year.

With a corp discount it was either 229.00 or 279.00 for a one year. I chose the one year and thought it was a great deal paying 29 more then normal price for a one year deal.

Now I'm seeing people paying less and it must have to do with the size of their corporation and how much they do with Verizon. My discount is for a small corp (about 70 phones)

Yep the sales rep told me that most people with discounts were getting them for $219 and was surprised when mine said $199 but then I work for the worlds largest corporation ;P

Didn't even think about asking for the one year price at the time although that is what I intend to do for the most part from here on.

KEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!! Both of them :)

No offense but many, notice I didn't say ALL, people that are having problems with this phone are new to Android and/or just have no clue what they are doing. Please return and get an idiot proof iPhone. Thx. Android is for the TRUE geek that likes customization and doesn't mind some tweaking.

The camera app force-closing whenever I tried to switch to the FFC was my fault? How about Sense deciding to delete/move texts for no reason? Or the app drawer grinding to a complete halt and not responding to anything short of a battery pull? How about incessant cycling of the 4G signal, making it unusable?

I've owned five Android handsets in the last year and a half, have rooted and installed custom roms on all of them, and I'm returning this phone without a second thought. I don't think this software was ready to be released, and its destroying what should be incredible hardware. I have every confidence HTC and Verizon will fix the issues. But until they do, I'm going to sit on the sidelines and wait for the other 4G phones to come before I make my decision.
