Tip: disable the hardware lock before upgrading to Oreo

I can't find the feature on my phone right now so I might have named it wrong in the Title, but I had the most frightening experience upgrading.

After applying the patch the phone restarted and immediately ran into the need to enter my pattern. Since I wasn't standing over the phone it waited a moment or two and then darkened the screen. It would signal if I unplugged or plugged in the charger but the screen would not come on. I thought I'd bricked it.

When I lifted it to pull the battery something woke it up.
But at first it scared the crap out of me.
