Today is the 18th. WHERE'S MY FROYO!!!

the cache folder is a great place to look too...let me know if you're willing to do a remote support session form your computer with your phone hooked up and I can find it.

You need to NOT install the update and hook phone up to computer and look through the phone for update.zip. Just copy that file to your desktop, then you can proceed with update

That doesnt sound to tough , If I get it I will , I wanted to post here to mark this spot tho :)

Search update.... nothing...searched .zip....nothing. phone did not have SD card in when update notification came up. I'll try get to someone to post link but cant find with astro .... email me if u think u can help

Make sure ASTRO isn't trying to look on your SD card if your SD card wasn't installed. I think ASTRO sets the "Home" icon to be the sd card by default.

Either that or hook it up to your computer and browse around. It should be a fairly large file.

froyo 2.2 ota dinc. up and running

around 7:30a sat. Ota is seem to have downloaded , I then press install. By 8:30a I was up and running and I am around the silver spring MD. Area.

Congrats. If you have a few minutes hook your phone up to your computer and hunt around for update.zip and copy it to your desktop if you can help the rest of us.

Woke up this morning and I have Froyo for breakfast. They seem to be continuing the rollout on Saturday (it wasn't there at 1:00 am when I went to bed). It took about 12 minutes and it's all good now.
Thank you Verizon and HTC.
And Thank you Android Central for being the best news source and open forum.

Before hauling off and bashing people, maybe you should realize that not everyone receiving their updates has the technical ability to extract the file and post it... If you notice, most of them are still asking for assistance on how to post screen caps... You say others are being selfish... I'm sure you won't care who posts what once you get your update...

Welcome to AC, but your first post on these threads does not give a great first impression... I know attitudes like that don't exactly entice me to throw you a bone...

My post wasn't singling anyone in this forum out but I appreciate the feedback. Some people do have it and have posted about it. They are either not able to or wanting to help a brother out and dl it before installing. Rest assured once I get my update, if it is not already posted, it will be by me. One love.

no...it means your still waiting to get it. It'll come, friend....just be patient. Some of these geeky smart guys will pull the update and it'll be posted on AC or D-L soon enough.

I have a dinc.. and work in a VZW store... the demo phone has update notification but when plugged into work computers cannot see entire device memory. I'd love to pull file but not possible until my personal line gets update then ill definitely be able to from home pc. Sorry guys ... hopefully someone else gets it first tho, I'm dying here waiting. At least I can play with the demo that has it tho. N e one want pics to post put an email ill send them out

I agree with CRK....I've had it over an hour now and I still have not had one person throw me a bone and tell me how to find the F'ing thing...I wanna help, but I have no idea how to pull the update.zip

looking in ASTRO...I see no file thats the size of the update.

Try hooking it up to your pc and searching the phone memory and sd card from there. Probably the easiest way.

Please stop trying to use astro to find it. Hook it up to a computer. Search the phone memory AND the SD card for the update.zip file. Try searching for hidden files and folders in windows (let me know if you need to know how to show hidden files). It has to be there somewhere...I'm even willing to do a remote support session to help you find it if you want.

Re: Has anyone received the rumored 8/27 OTA Froyo update?

Using adb you would need to have logcat running to capture the url that points to where the update is coming from.

With the url, you could download the update.

No, once you restart your phone and install it, it runs a clean-up deleting the file. Once you download the update when it asks you if you want to restart and install the update it will still be on the SDCard. However if you have already installed it's gone. See post above.....

sorry guys...this info would have been helpful when the thread was made. LOL.

maybe others will see it and do it before hand.

Yes...you need to download the file by accepting the update, but when it's done downloading, you need to hit home button INSTEAD of RESTART AND INSTALL. At this point in time you should be able to copy the update.zip. If you restart and install it will delete the file after install. The link above has a step by step....
