Un-Brick method for SOME forms of brick

I am convinced its the VC update!!!! If you revert to V9 the problems are over. But let me say this I think it is the update that is pushed by the update tool and not the OTA.
You can try

revert to V9 + stock V9 recovery

OTA VC update

##786# reset

revert to V9 + stock V9 recovery

LG Software Update VC

##786# reset

I think so too, but only for some, since there are those who have apparently, successfully used the LG Updater method without getting the LG Logo hang.

Makes sense to me. O.a.T had me realize that this brick occured the first time I did a hard reset (like battery out, battery back in) after I had updated to VC via LG Updater. At least that'll make it easier for me to explain to Sprint when I bring my phone in for replacement. :)

Can go back to v9 and use nROM or try again like sfhub suggested. :)

The upgrade from ZV9 to ZVC is what caused my brick. Pushing back to ZV9 worked for me. The CAB i used came from http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGLS670/ASPRCQ/LS670ZV9_20/LS670ZV9_20.S9_20.P60671.cab. Use Beezy's steps, just use my filename and answer LS670ZV9 instead of LS670ZVC for step 9.

I just did the same after trying multiple times and different ways. I ran the steps which took me to zv9 and I nandroided back to where I was on TR1.6.2, where I plan on staying for a while!

After restoring the backup, that LG screen was up for a while.. scared me a bit.

Thank you all.

I did something incredibly stupid yesterday. Reverting back to TR 1.8 from CM7 while cleaning data/cache/dalvik etc.. I formatted /system just for the heck of it. Somewhere within the heart of CWMA there was a command to do a LG style Factory Reset. I thought Sure why not....

Well I know you all know what happens next... The phone reboots with stock recovery, wipes /data and /cache, then tries to boot the OS.. With no /system the boot of course hangs at the LG screen.

Not one to panic easy I head here knowing there has to be a way. I mean the phone is not perma-bricked as it still attempts to boot. I find this post and follow the directions explicitly. The only problem I had was the link to the cab file in the instructional is broken. Though I managed to backup and find the one I wanted on Zefies's host.

I used Kp500 plus the V9 cab file to restore my phone to factory. Then z4root to re-root, and re-installed CWMA. LG Update tool to get back to VD, then re-flash TR 1.8 to have my custom rom and root again.

The short version. Thank you to every dev, mod, and poster on these forums. Without you all my phone would have been stuck with factory crap from the word go. I would not have ever gained the knowledge that I now have of this little device.

Of course I would also have not had that short horrific moment of knowing I broke my phone either. :D

But hey that was my own doing. Thank you all again.

thanks a lot for all of you guys!
especially zefie, beezy, and cordell (for having same problems like me)
well, pardon my english, since it's not my native. and pardon me for being such a noob with the first post was posted here :)
but for 5 days i got frustrated just because a small mistakes (my optimus can't respond anything, unless it got debugged, or receiving a call), than suddenly it grows into a brick. well, at first i quite confused with the steps. (my version was ZVD, and I'm not sure if this version can work too).
after dozens of trial (by clicking restart confusingly and a little bit clueless about when to do which steps) finally i got it.
and just for sharing for a noob like me, who got quite "fortunate" to brick their optimus :) lol
and this is especially in step 11 :
first, like zefie said, that when you got "Phone Mode 2" and just before the updating progress appear, disconnect your phone (this worked for me: just pull out the battery first, so the power source just came from the cable)
second, reconnect again, and the screen will said anything about downloading, but this time, without the bright-red "Emergency Mode".
and still without pushing any button, just push the restart on LG updater again.

and once again, thanks so much for all your sharing of expertise....

Hello everyone. quick question, if it is stuck on Download is in progress from using KP500 the first time and the program freezing up, it is pretty much bricked considering can't go in recovery mode or do anything else? I tried everything, even taking out the battery does nothing, still show Download screen when connected to direct power or USB. :'(

Tried using this method to fix a bricked phone.

Currently when I boot the phone it brings up blank screen (requires new VD drivers for display)

I can type adb devices and it shows my device in recovery..

Adb shell gives me a
- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -

Going into Emergency mode works for flashing but then reboots back to recovery (no display, and cant adb shell)

Nevermind, It was definately rebooting into recovery and ADB wouldn't let me do anything.. but by pressing menu (first option in recovery being reboot), it rebooted back into normal mode..

Oh my god!!! This thread saved my ass big time!! If i had more money i would send it your way immediately!! If it were not for this thread my phone would be a paper weight!! Fixed it perfectly, and im talking muy phone was phucked up, no adb, no screen, nothing~!!!!! You are amazing brother!!! You made my week!

Praise the heavens above, but mostly zefie and beezy, the gods of the optimus. I was just about to plunk down $200 for a new one when at 2 in the morning, I was able to restore the sprint cab and then go back to virgin backup in the cwma recovery. You guys are amazing, thank you so much.

Why is emergency mode so hard to launch into? Also, it won't read my phone ... This is ****ing great.

Won't go past 30-percent. ...Just what a ****ing great experience this has all been. Four LG phones later broken of trying to install custom ROM's. I'm ****ing done with this. Goodbye..

Blake, you should really drop the attitude. Everyone has been very patient with you (as can be seen by the responses to your posts above) despite your ranting posts that are almost insulting at times.

You made progress and were able to revert, install the custom recovery and make it all the way to installing CM7 when you repeatedly kept saying nothing works and not one word of thanks either. Again everyone was very patient with you.

Now instead of asking questions and waiting for responses, it appears you forged on and bricked your phone? I really don't see how we could have been more patient.

If you want to ask more questions and be patient, I'm sure folks will still help, but if you decide to leave, it really won't be our loss.

Blake, I've emailed you. I'm on ny phone now, but we need to know what the problem is before trying to diagnose it
