Unlimited Data is back

Yeah... that would make we wary of this move. Verizon has basically spent the past few years equating unlimited data to an affront to all that is good... they've been downright hostile to the users that were on older UDP plans, etc. They didn't make this move because they felt it was time to reintroduce the plans, they were basically forced to do so. With all those studies coming out that T-Mobile had significantly closed the network gap that had been, not long ago, pretty wide, Verizon could not longer sit back and just point at their network as a reason to do business with them.

So their hand was effectively forced... Now, you have to question their commitment to a type of plan they vilified only a couple of months prior. But as long as T-Mobile keeps up the pressure, Verizon will have no recourse other than to stick to it.
Don't forget the one guy at Verizon that was saying all this has now retired, it's a different guy now.

Verizon has always been good about leaving you on the plan you are on if they change plans. They hated the grandfathered data plans but didn't force you off them, they took perks away eventually.

So I guess the elephant in the room will be if Verizon turns the screws on the heavy users.... the 200G+ a month ones that they pretty much kicked to the curb not too long ago. Yes, there is a 22G soft cap, but what about someone who cranks through 500G of Netflix.

I think you are correct in saying that the new Verizon CEO will bring about change. He is European and comes from a different perspective. Is anyone familiar with the European wireless players? They must do something differently.

My current data plan is enough for me, I use a lot of wifi so am good but I can see why some people are excited to have this back. Still not mega cheap but still, a step in the right direction for a lot of people.

Technically they could change the price when they want but assuming they go on what carriers normally do -- they will allow those who got it early to keep the pricing.

You should be able to swap your current plan but going into your account.

You are also talking about Verizon... They might grandfather you for some time but they still might raise prices later like what Verizon did to legacy UDP

Lol, I thought Big Red executives were saying you don't need unlimited data? Verizon customers that will switch to the unlimited plan can give a big thank you to Sprint and T-mobile for standing pat on unlimited data plans and for causing Verizon pull this plan out of their rosy bottom cheeks. Hopefully, this plan sticks and is not just a limited time promo. Win for the customers!

Scammo was the main one saying that. He recently left Verizon.

True -- I am assuming they won't do that any time soon. Would be random to introduce this price and quickly raise it out of no where.

Pfft -- you suck!
Right now TMO's fanboys suck. They're getting SUPER grumpy in a post because I called out the fact that most of TMO's network is not their network, but third party partners that help their map appear as if they're nearly as big as the other three. They don't read the post, but then respond with a whole bunch of vitriol and trolling. So much fun.

Lol. Facts are facts. I have enjoyed T-Mobile but with Verizon coming out with this .. well .. you know where I stand. Just waiting on approval from the gf and I will swap to VZW :-x. It actually would be cheaper (only $2-3 a month) but yeah..

TMO is my favorite carrier, they just don't work where I live and I have enough integrity to a) believe what they tell me about not working here and b) not love EVERYTHING they do just because I respect some things they do.

Yeah, I just talked to AT&T Retentions as well. They don't give a crap about anyone. Been with them for 15 years, and they said all she can do is give me the unlimited but I have to sign up for directv. I said how is giving me that plan that is already there trying to keep me? She said there isn't anything else she can do. I said, then I will be leaving you guys with 3 lines. Ended that call with that.

Here I come Verizon!

It'll be slow.
