unrEVOked!

So the root is up on their unrevoked site...... will it work for updated phones? BB let my ota stuff through before I could stop it. The site doesn't say anything more than click here

on edit.... I just looked on the xda site and turns out I was able to stop the bb girl from sending the update when I went noooooo! lol, my software # is still 1.32.651.1 and not the .6 after the update!!!

SO NOW, we just need some answers about this vague unrevoked setup!!!!!

Does the unrevoked root allow you to uninstall from within Android or do you still have to go to recovery?

also, how does this work? we just install it on our phone??

Thanks

Ok, I rooted with the other method already and didn't do the OTA yet. Now, what happens? should I download the ota and then reapply this new method?

I'm confused :(

Any body have any results from the unrevoked apk?

I applied it, probably should have waited but it doesn't appear to have broken anything.

Also note that I am totally new to Android and not really sure what I can and should do with root access, just sounded like a good idea at the time :)

unrEVOked is the best root ever.... is like blackra1n for the iphone but simple (if you are coming from an iphone)... it's just an app you download it, run it and it's done... nothing more nothing less... it will work with the OTA and with out the OTA... this is just great!

Have you noticed anything new? Any changes? (not like new ROM kinda changes, but like, can you see how to root with it?) or did it not even work?

So would you recommend me get the OTA and then use it, or don't get the OTA?

To quote the movie Stepbrothers.... "holy Santa Claus $hit!"

That was amazingly easy! So now how does one backup a copy of this rom? Tell me there's another easy button!

So when we install the app to the phone, it ends up being a ROM?

It doesn't turn into a ROM..... but from my readings, it is good policy to have a backup of the STOCK ROM with ROOT

I know, this stuff is kinda overwhelming! I've been reading my butt off trying to get acclimated

No data deletion no reboot, no nothing.... click the one button and it's done.... I'm still pretty astonished

Well I used the unrevoked method and I have no idea what I did or what it does

So does this mean that if I put a custom rom on my sd card and put the phone into bootloader mode (power on and volume down it'll flash the rom. Also how does one go about going back to stock settings.

You can load custom ROMs (i haven't checked out the app, cause I don't have an evo, it should have a custom recovery image) by doing exactly what you said, load it up in recovery mode, make a nandroid backup, wipe data (put the .zip file as is in the root of the sd card), flash .zip. If you don't like the ROM, nandroid restore back to as it was before the flash, 100%, no messed up data.
