No Problem... I went thru it all Yesterday so I know how frustrating it gets...

Not really frustrating... more like overwhelming ;)

But like I said you cleared a lot up for me.. in a nutshell, run unrevoked 1, get root up and running, run unrevoked 2, backup with NAND, flash over to new OTA updated ROM, backup again, rock my rooted and updated Evo!.

Or should I hold off on the updated OTA ROM since it was pulled?

Now I can't wait to get home and do this!! (at work right now and don't want to mess with this at the moment).

I think it was pulled because People received a prompt to update again...
In turn Bricking many phones...

My Phone works Great so i dont see why you shouldnt give it a go...

Thats why you back up to begin with once you have NAND

Then you push the Rom

Then Back up again...

If you get confused with how to boot into Clockwork Recovery *Which is were you access NAND* just PM me I'm on here all day long...

Unfortunately I already did the OTA update without unrevoked 2 so I am out of luck for a while.

It sounds like everyone should just hold tight for a while.
 
I am out of town and do not have access to a computer. I have unrevoked one installed on my evo. Do I need to run RUU in order to install the update. I do not want to brick my phone but I have no ability to unrest my phone right now. Any advice would be appreciated.
 
Jasondmoore if want to keep your root you will have to use a computer and unrevoked2. And use the patch from earlier in this thread (of which it appears they have pulled for the time being). You may just want to wait on even updating for now. Unless of course if you don't care to keep you root ability. then update with HTC's official OTA. Read back a page or so and I give the options you have.
 
Well...I messed up today and updated to the new HTC software update which of course said goodbye to my wifi tethering. Is it possible to rollback by doing a factory reset?

No because you would factory reset to the newest OTA update...

I am right there with you! I use wifi tether, and the only reason i used unrevoked was to use the Wifi tether.

Any fix?

So far nope...I can't believe I did that. I was distracted when I got the upgrade prompt and accepted it lol. We will have to just follow the guys at Unrevoked and see if the hole that allowed the 1-click Unrevoked is still exploitable. If not...they said they might have a RUU we can flash back to which will roll the software upgrade back to the rootable one.
 
I am trying to receive the update. But my phone keeps saying it is rooted. But I only used unrevoked for the wifi tethering. I have factory resetted my phone and have not re-installed unrevoked. Is there any other way around it? Im thinking I may have to totally unroot, I have no idea why, especially if unrevoked is supposed to break on a power off or hard reset.
 
noob here. I had used unrevoked for the tethering. Will a work around be found? dont want to fully root my phone.

There's plenty of people looking into away around the new update,just have to give it little time.
 
Good question - I am wondering this as well. I went ahead and ran unrevoked 2 on my Evo last night in preparation to flash this OTA. I decided to wait until a few people actually tried it and reported back before I actually load the OTA. Hopefully we will get an answer to your question soon.
