UPDATE THE LINK IS LIVE 6/20 *** Sprint Premier Customers Can Buy Evo 3D NOW !!!

thanks for the response.

looks like their "unlimited" data plan is limited afterall... :(

Well, the extra $10 is so that they can continue to provide 4G service to more people. Without that extra charge, they wouldn't be able to afford building new 4G towers in more places..

So basically, if you live somewhere that doesn't have 4G service, you are paying extra for your plan in order for them to build those towers in your area.. Or at least, that's how i'm looking at it anyway.. I dont get 4G in my area, closest place is over an hour and a half away... But since they started the whole extra $10 dollars for 4G phones, they have built towers in I believe two or three more places. Although the towers aren't being built in my area yet, it doesn't mean they wont arrive sometime in the next 6 ta 12 months. and by then, almost every new phone will probably be 4G, thus forcing carriers to build more and more towers.

Granted, I've heard that Sprints 4G (Wiimax) is pretty much a pile of crap in most areas, and when indoors its nearly impossible to actually keep a steady signal (only based on what I've heard from youtube videos, blogs, forums, and such), At least they are providing it.. Even if the rumored deal with about LTE towers goes down, at least they already have some service up..

The $10 Premium charge has nothing to do with 4G ... or Building 4G towers ... The charge is for DATA USE on a premium phone ... It's kind of like a luxury tax on vehicles over $50,000 ... By having these premium phones you are GUARANTEED to up your data usage by 50% or more ... Streaming music and videos and tethering and browsing the web and twitter and facebook and podcast etc ... As well as the auti syncs your phone is constantly using like a junkie ... I know I use my phone 100% more than I have ever used any other smartphone in my life and I get a new one every year ... My Evo is by far hands down the best. With all the data and tethering I am doing I am happy to give them that $10 ... Its a freakin bargain.:D

so the $10 extra will allow for the tethering of devices on 4g? (sorry, i have a damn palm treo pro that i'm looking to upgrade and i've been out of the phone market for a while if you couldn't tell already! :) )

That's my point, the phone gets its data faster, thus uses more data, thus the "premium data fee", regardless if you are in 4G or not. Originally it was only for 4G phones, but now its spread to any newly activated smart phone regardless of 4G or 3G. But the original point of the extra $10 was to help with the data load that the new 4G service pretty much guaranteed would happen.. but eh, i dont care for the extra data fee even without having 4G service cause as i said, i know its going towards the network, and possibly getting 4G in my area that much quicker.

from what my brother was told with his Evo 4G, and from what i was told about my Palm Pre, tethering requires a completely different plan, as in, you need to add a tether like plan to your existing plan... I know there are ways around this, and that some phones do it for free, but as far as i know with the current phones me and him have, you have to pay for a tethering data like plan similar to those that you have to get when you want to use their mobile broadband usb devices or mobile hot spot devices..

I could always go back into Sprint tomorrow and ask the Manager/Cousin about it as well XD

Anyone know the answer?

yea lol, it was in a post on the previous page. i walked into sprint and asked my cousin who is the manager about all the questions on here. If its ordered online or In-Store (in a sprint store) activation is supposed to be free.

When you buy the phone on June 21st, it will NOT ship until LAUNCH DATE (June 24th) because of the simple aspect of that day being just that, the official launch date. any sales (as in, receiving/activating the phone) prior to that date, is a breach in some legal mumbo jumbo XD

I Just finished a chat session with Sprint and backed up that with a call to sales and they both confirmed that ordering on the 21st will get you next day delivery of your device on Wednesday JUNE 22nd :D as in all (most) online and sales orders.

Wow, looks like i'll have to go into sprint again tomorrow and double check with him again to see if anything changed, cause as far as he knew, no one was to be getting it until the 24th regardless of how it was ordered cause of legal reasons with HTC.

Sprint owns the company ... They Set the Dates ... They can start sales as early or as late as they want to ... They are not going to sue themselves ... And being with Sprint so long I tend to not believe any single store reps ... I always double and tripple check different sources ... We in the forums tend to know more than front line store reps. ;)

Thanks I did a searched for "waived" and didn't see your reply. But thanks for answering. Is he sure there is no activation fee in store because my gf recently bought a flip phone for her mom and was eligible for the 2 yr upgrade but she was still charged activation fee.

That is the thing, this isn't a "rep" this is the manager of the entire store. I'm currently talking to a chat rep as well asking several questions, i'll post what i can as soon as i get answers XD

The store probably wants to make the sale thats why they are saying it wont ship out until the 24th.

It would make ZERO sense for Sprint to even come out and say SP members can order it early if they actually wont be getting it until after the 24th. That would be the dumbest thing ever.

My bet is the 22nd or the 23rd the SP members will be getting theirs.

This is what I got out of the online chat person:

Questions asked were:
If the HTC EVO 3D is ordered online/in-store (sprint store) is the activation fee waived?

If the HTC EVO 3D is ordered online for the June 21st promotion, when will it arrive?

The answers:
1. Online/In-Store orders WILL have the action fee WAIVED.

2. The phone will have TWO shipping options. Standard shipping which will arrive within 3 ta 5 days, and Overnight which would get it to your door step on June 22nd.

After these two answers, I asked a follow up to clarify if the phone would actually be USABLE if received on June 22nd. The question was:
So if the phone was received on the 22nd, would it be ready for activation right out of the box, or would you have to wait till the 24th?

Answer:
Simply contact Sprint, and they will activate it right then and there no matter the date.

good to know. Lot of things cleared up. Since there are two options for shipping what do you think the price would be to overnight the phone to get the cool factor of having it early?

Sounds about right except that Sprint has always shipped overnight UPS and has never charged me for shipping or given the option of a "standard" shipping ... In either case it looks like there are going to be alot of happy EVO lovers on June 22nd.

Idk, I was tempted to ask that same question, but since its still so early, I doubted she would know the actual shipping information since it isn't up on the online store yet.

Probably should have asked it anyway lol.

But, i would assume it shouldn't be too much, considering the phone doesn't way more than what, a pound? and the included accessories and what not can't had that much more weight to it, so I could not see it being more than around 10 ta 15 dollars... but, I could be DRASTICALLY off with that..

Anyone here buy their HTC EVO 4G with overnight shipping??? If so, that'd probably give us a nice clue as to what the shipping would be for the 3D!

Lol wish I had seen this before I went to submit my other post XD

So, I take it you have gotten a phone online similar to this before??

And, from what I understand from your post, you weren't charged???

If that is so, then screw my Pre-Order at Radio Shack, I'll be doing the lovely June 21st ordering! Although it basically means I wasted $50 at Radio Shack XD But, then again, I could always use that lovely $50 gift card to buy me a cheap bluetooth headset, or maybe a case, or the nice HDMI adapter so I can watch stuff on my lil tv >.<

I've been with Sprint for over 12 years and must have purchased at least 15 different phones in every way they have to buy ... Here is a lil tip ... ALWAYS ask for the small things to be waived and they will normally do it ... Shipping ... Activation fee ... Restocking fee etc ... Another thing is if you don't get anywhere with the store reps immediately call customer service and they will help ... If you have a problem and it doesn't get resolved ALWAYS ask to speak to someone else that CAN resolve it ... Sprint can't afford to lose good long time loyal customers.
