[UPDATED 12/30/2012][Sprint Only]UnRoot and Return to stock

Hey Skunk, first of all, you are the best and everyone should be grateful fo rthe work you put in so others have it easy. Now that I have buttered you up, I need a simple question or two answered.

this method will keep all my apps in place?

I am rooted but using stock rom - will that hinder my ability to get 4.2.2 update and finally, is that update out yet? i can't keep track.

Thanks for your help, I know this is uppity but I just don't have time to scan the forums like I used to. thanks again.

Why are you trying to return to stock? You can update being rooted and on a stock ROM. Use the method in post #2 in the "Your Way To Update MB1 thread. Being rooted doesn't stop you from getting updates. It's just not through ota.

I was rooted using QBking77 method with teamepic recovery,
I then installed stock recovery using QBking77 method
and then manually updated to MA6
Re rooted
Phone froze upon startup
I did this ( flashed to stock)
Now when I boot it keeps on saying "process.android.process.acore has stopped" and then "touchwiz has stopped working" not allowing me to use the phone.
Any advice would be really appreciated?

After unistalling titanium backup it now works!
seems titanium backup caused the problem is MA6 in the first place.
Is there a way to report this anywhere?

There is an email for the developers of titanium backup on their playstore page. That's where you should report it. But it was really probably a fluke.

*edit* I finally got it to get into Download, downloaded the stock tar file again, used Odin again and it still froze at the Samsung screen. I was able to to a wipe/factry reset. That did the trick.Thank you for the tools to do this. It is much appreciated!

I also just emailed them. I've been using Titanium backup for years, but now that I have a new phone and rooted, Titanium backup just sits on the backup screen without backing up.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

I need some help. When i double click pda and then double click the tar file i get a message saying the parameter is incorrect. How or what do i do. I need to remove clockwork so i can update ota.

You don't need to remove clockworkmod to update. Go to the 2nd post of the thread linked below and it gives you instruction on how to update while rooted with custom recovery. Very simple. And no, you don't have to update to MA6 first, if you use the method in post #2.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

I understand post #2 but since my phone is not fully rooted as I mean saying that superuser does not gain root access and neither do any apps that require root access. For this reason I just want to update and remove cwm and return to stock. But will mb1 work on my phone.

Just download the following file to your phone and flash that in recovery. That should re root your phone.

Team Epic Root from recovery

All you need is to flash is two files. First the firmware/baseband/modem then one of the two roms. If you want to do mods in the future, flash the deodexed. If you don't think you'll want any mods, flash the odexed.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Much appreciated. I will be using this method on my S3 tonight.

sorry flash count says 4 now that I'm stock does matter?

It depends on what you're wanting to do. If you need to return your phone to Samsung out Sprint it is suggested that you clear your count. If you are not planning to take it to Sprint or Samsung it really isn't that important.

If you have already went back to stock, it is too late to clear the counts. You would have to reroot the phone. Use triangle away, shut down the phone and return to stock.

Remember once you clear the counts with triangle away, you can't restart your phone again before returning to stock or it will go back to 1 count again.
