US release date could be July 12th!

did Google ever officially state June 12 as a release date? If not why are we freaking out?

The reason we are freaking out is because retail stores, like Gamestop. Have the Nexus 7 in stock in their store room yet us who have pre-ordered directly from the Play Store are left in the dark as to when we will see ours.

If anyone else gets bored while they wait, just do what I did:

1. Get a ruler, pen, and sheet of paper.
2. Make a 7.81" x 4.72" rectangle.
3. Diagonally connect the corners with 2 lines in an X shape.
4. Measure 3.5" from the center of the X toward each corner, and make another rectangle with it.
5. Cut it out and round off the corners.
6. You now have a paper representation of how big your Nexus 7 will be.
7. Try not to hug it too much or get tears/snot on it.

I called my bank about that issue and was told that its Google requesting pre-authorization and that it would show on my account for five days and if it was not acted upon they would drop it. But the pre-auth is still active just not shown.

Makes sense. I've never had a pre-authorization on my card that long before so it was a first for me. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was actually getting ready to call my bank right when I refreshed the page. :)

Morning folks. Yesterday I kept saying that perhaps we would see the tablet delivered until Monday or Tuesday. After all Google did say mid-Juy and with no activity on my credit card or Google Wallet, I think that will be the case. I ordered mine July 2, so I really hope it ships with the first wave.

I think the response was pretty big, in which if you didn't order it by June 30th I doubt you will be in the first wave.

How many times are people going to talk about the pre-auth charges? You'd think they'd know how to search or google, especially when they are buying a Google tablet!

I been searching around and people are still saying today, which I guess is possible, doesn't have to be in the morning. But I'm done anticipating lol.

Yeah, it's discouraging to know that those that ordered first are still in the dark as to when they'll receive theirs. You were one of the firsts right? Just keep us posted.

Over on XDA they're saying Ebuyer over in the UK is already shipping them next day, so those who order from them (even right now) will have them tomorrow in the UK. That nonsense pisses me off. A third party retailer in another country can get them out before Google can in its home country? Give me a break. That's not cool by any stretch of the imagination.

Here's their website:

Sorry Google, but you screwed the pooch on this launch......bigtime. I ordered from the source minutes after the page went live......and I'll get my product substantially later than people in another country who are buying right now from a third party retailer. Not cool at all.

Over on XDA forums one of them said that if you were one of the first people to pre-order the Google Rep he spoke with said they would ship out today.

And that means I'd STILL get my product three days later than people in another country buying from a third party retailer.

I honestly think the Google Reps are telling people they want to hear to keep them from calling for another day or so :D

Release date IS today. Look, I already got mine!

Google is being sued (as of yesterday I believe) and the court has been asked to place a preliminary injunction on distributing the Chrome mobile browser in the United States, which doesn't apply to over-seas. Don't know if that's the issue here... but ya never know until Google says otherwise.

Same here haha, waited for my playbook to sell. Need to get this before the 20th

The best part was my Playbook 16 gb was free. RIM had a developer program going on that if you submitted an app by a certain date you got a Playbook for free. I did, I got, and I sold the Blackberry Playbook.

It was a fairly nice device, I actually preferred it over the Kindle Fire, or Nook Tablet. Build quality wise and even software wise. The probably was the app store was a hot mess, Angry Birds Space didn't become available until like a month later at a higher cost.

Yeah, I read that. No injunction has been granted yet, so it wouldn't stop them from shipping. Regardless, the problem is that Google isn't saying otherwise. They aren't saying anything, while other third party retailers are shipping. That's messed up no matter how you slice it.
