US release date could be July 12th!

My GS is taking orders for next shipment, expected in August.

I was waiting to see if the tablet would hit stores this week, but no luck in my area. So I decided to put in an order with Office Depot. I talked to a CSR and they confirmed that if I ordered today I would receive the tablet before or on the 17th. On top of that there's a coupon code for a free $15 gas card!

So all in all:
- Free shipping
- 17th delivery date
- $25 play store credit
- $15 gas card ( coupon code 595897257 RetailMeNot: Coupon Codes, Coupons, Promo Codes, Free Shipping and Discounts for Thousands of Stores )

I emailed their customer service with my order number, essentially inquiring whether Google plans to compensate the people who preordered through Play, based solely on the fact that I no longer see any advantage to preordering a device through Play again (it's more costly AND late). Maybe if enough people raise an issue, they will make amends.

Couldn't hurt.

I sent them an email yesterday, kinda doing the same thing.

Google ought to refund shipping costs to all the Play Store pre-orders, or upgrade us to overnight.
I'm not going to act like a 3-year-old but what is the point of online pre-ordering if you're going to release it in stores first?
To all those who got it at Game Stop, enjoy! Hopefully, us PS preorderers will be joining you soon.

I 100% agree. I woke up only to find more bad news for us early play store preorders. Why did I think that pre-ordering on the 27th would get me a tablet quicker?

Well I wouldn't doubt it if someone at google was reading these threads. I saw someone post something about them removing sales tax on another nexus device preorder last year. The tax is just as much as the shipping cost, so I would be slightly happier. I will still never order a device from the play store again though. Just seeing all of these GS threads is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Or maybe its because I just woke up and haven't brushed yet.. Not sure.

I'm not sure how much they'll bend. I tried everything I could think of last night in hopes they'd just flat out cancel it, but to no avail.

You know how all those Apple fanboys love to order their stuff directly from the Apple store, it makes them feel special or something?

Well as an Android fanboy today, I'm not quite getting that special feeling having ordered directly from Google Play. In fact I need to find a corner to cry in right about now. Excuse me. :'(

Well, google has to collect and remit the tax in the states they do business or have a physical presence (which I assume is every state.... at least some sort of sales office). So the tax has to be collect. I dont think its unreasonable they would not charge for the shipping.

Yeah, who knows. I've had great experiences raising an issue with Amazon the one or two times they've botched a shipment (out of hundreds of shipments for me) and they've always apologized with a $10 credit or something. I doubt Google's customer service is that accomodating but I'm (a) bored at work, (b) counting the hours until this awful Megabus ride, and (c) desperate to soften the blow of not getting my new toy.

I think that there is a lot of BS going on in the net forums about this....if I were to claim to have a email or number I certainly would post more than a possible photoshop ss...but kids have a lot of time with summer vacation. Bet these "emials" produce no solid proof of delivered units til next week. IDK why they just will not update us with information, makes you wonder if something is wrong.

I plan on doing the same thing once I actually have one in my hands and this whole experience is over.

Ditto. I just did the same. I see 0.0 benefit of ordering through the playstore again.

I hear ya. At the very least we should get a loose shipping approximation. I'm always hesitant to say we deserve this or that, but in this case it's the least they could do.

Fanboy or not, when you preorder something from Apple, they tell you when you're gonna get it and they give you a tracking number and your device appears ON launch day (the date of which is never a mystery). The feeling's not necessarily "special," but it is a nice one, knowing you're dealing with a competent entity that has their sh!t together and can deliver on precise (not vague) promises.

I was just told by an Office Depot CSR that they won't be shipping orders until the 16th and delivery would be within 5 after it ships.

Ha, yeah. I always feel grossly entitled expecting anything regarding what is essentially a luxury electronic, but it would be in their best interests to at least give us credit in the amount of the shipping.

Wow no one per ordered at my GameStop. And he said that others have been selling. And if I per order now I can get it on Aug 7. 3rd wave

On top of the text, manager at gamestop just called and said mine is ready to pick up.

He said the street Date was updated to July 13th, as soon as the play store orders were in route they were Ok to sell

Well this sucks, don't know that I will ever pre-order from the play store again. Unless google does something to make up for this cluster-*uck in the end. At a minimum pay for my shipping costs!

I’m sorry but I still don’t get the all the hate towards the Google store. People preordered from them under the impression they would receive before retail stores would. Even though Google never stated or implied that. They did state a 2-3 week lead time. Most would agree we are through week three. If you were not happy with that why did you order it? Is this more of a case of buyers preorder remorse? Could you have waited a day or two to see if there would be other ways to purchase the item?

Well got the call 5 minutes ago. Preordered from Gamestop on Sunday, gonna pick it up in while. It's for my wife so she doesn't have to use my Prime. Maybe I should let her use the Prime today so I can try JELLYBEAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Let you guys know about it tonight.
