US release date could be July 12th!

You guys need to take a deep breath. Not everything is a conspiracy. You pre-purchased a device that said it would ship in 2-3 weeks and it's shipping within the 2-3 week window. You've all put far too much faith into the rumors that get pushed around on these forums, and now it's soured your opinion on Google.

Do I wish I had mine already? Of coruse. Am I going to throw a fit because someone can walk into Gamestop and buy one? No, because mine is still on it's way. Well within the timeframe Google provided when I agreed to purchase.

lol I like how the post below you has a picture of a guy who preordered two weeks after and already has one.

Have been reading this thread for a few days now but wanted to add my frustration to the mix. I haven't been this excited to get a new device since I waited in line at Best Buy for the Palm Pre and the EVO 4G (yikes). Apple does seem to have their act in order for generating hype and delivering on their devices as promised. As far fetched as this may seem, I have confidence that Google will make this right somehow for all the preorder customers. Then again, it may be wishful thinking as I sit on my Unicorn Ranch.

I pre-ordered mine on June 27 right after the announcement and have yet to see any emails from UPS or Google, or see any charges on my bank account. Was I wrong in thinking that preordering from Google would gain me access to the N7 without having to play the wait game with a B&M store?

I won't cancel my order as I want this to replace my iPad2 and K-Fire (going to the wife and kids) but this waiting game is frustrating. IMO, Google should at least issue a statement via email to the preorder folks with some (or any) news. Is that too much to expect?

@macewank: Sorry you're unhappy reading the conspiracies on here. Unfortunately, the majority of us lack any FACTs from Google. Therefore, we're left to speculate and wonder what the hell is going on. Search for "Nexus 7 ship date" on the interwebs and you will notice that private companies, journalists, and users continue to speculate... if you have a hard-ship date or new information, feel free to post.

Typically I would be the same way but, the problem is for people who ordered something 1 to 2 weeks after people who ordered it to get communication even if its them checking their banking statement. And then not even post something to the effect of hey sorry we dropped the ball on the 16gb. Your right I agreed to the 2 to 3 weeks but if the product starts to ship doesn't that kind of update the agreement.

To those telling us to get a life, calm down and just wait: Let’s say you call a restaurant and make dinner reservations for a week from Sunday. The restaurant charges you a $14 convenience fee which you gladly pay because you’ll be guaranteed a table right when you walk in. You get all dressed up and go to the restaurant but when you arrive you have to stand around waiting for an hour and twenty other couples are already eating. Then you find out those couples made their reservation with Open Table for free a few days after you did! To make matters worse, you didn’t find this out from the restaurant itself, you had to hear it from some guy leaving the bar. Would you be particularly happy about that? Sure, you’re going to eat, but that doesn’t mean you were treated fairly. :)

It does say street date 8/7 but look at the date in the top left corner over the associates name. How else would my tablet be sitting here on my bed?

Absolutely not doubting that you have the tablet, just making a statement that the official street date was 8/7 for Gamestop per your receipt. Just wondering if a mandated delay was violated or if permission was granted to release 3rd party pre-orders.

Again, no information from Google, so all I can do is read information available from various sources and speculate.

I take it you already got a tracking number then, since you know it's on its way?

Google has a message that all 1st wave orders go out today, and all other pre orders ship within the next 3 business days, so they are technically all on their way

Oooh! Now I have seen 8GB people being charged who ordered as late as 7/5! I might actually have a chance of being in the "first wave"!!!

I love this little tablet. Anyway while i type this on my N7, guys keep in mind google isnt a hardware manufacturer and they arent a hardware seller. To be honest they had no clue what they were doing with this obviously. The should have shipped the other day if GS was gonna sell them today but nope. Heck even the GS employee didnt know he was okay to sell it today. Google dropped the ball yes. And the argument that amazon always ships stuff to customers on the street date like games, guys publishers have been coordinating this for years with online retailers and brick and motor stores. The is really googles first time launching a device through retailers like these. Cut them some slack.

And dont be whiny and ask to have the shipping fee refunded because we got ours first. Thats just absurd.

When I get shipping confirmation, then and only then will I concede anything has actually shipped.

No soup for you!

I ordered mine on 7/5. It had disappeared from pending charges, but now it has reappeared...

"A document entitled “Google Nexus 7 Tablet Launch Update” leaked on the internet instructed stores that the device had been delayed until further notice.

However, after speaking directly to Google, Pocket-lint can confirm that the only reason some stores may have been told this is to ensure the Nexus 7 is released on the same day across all stores."

HA! Because there's one hell of a unified release going on right now!

So? You guys assume that pre-ordering puts you in some magical single file line and orders are fulfilled in a first come first serve manner, regardless of vendor. That's not how it works.

Purchasing agreements between Gamestop and Google/ASUS have likely been in place for months. That's how business works. Google doesn't put the pre-order page up for us and get a phone call from someone at Gamestop saying "hey, we'll buy 500,000!" for 2 reasons:

1) A company the size of Gamestop is physically unable to spin a purchase order through in that timespan. The amount of planning and logistics on their end alone would take longer than has elapsed thusfar.

2) See, the crazy weird thing about these situations is that Google/ASUS don't just "make a bunch of tablets". They fulfill orders. When Gamestop approaches Google and asks for X number of devices, Google/ASUS have to be able to manufacture that hardware. I swear sometimes people think that Google/ASUS have this giant warehouse of N7 devices that they just randomly pick out of to ship orders.

Gamestop, for their part, can sell the device to whomever they want. They do pre-orders as well, and they are completely unrelated to the ones made on the Google play store. Their "line" is not the same as our "line"
