US release date could be July 12th!

To those telling us to get a life, calm down and just wait: Let?s say you call a restaurant and make dinner reservations for a week from Sunday. The restaurant charges you a $14 convenience fee which you gladly pay because you?ll be guaranteed a table right when you walk in. You get all dressed up and go to the restaurant but when you arrive you have to stand around waiting for an hour and twenty other couples are already eating. Then you find out those couples made their reservation with Open Table for free a few days after you did! To make matters worse, you didn?t find this out from the restaurant itself, you had to hear it from some guy leaving the bar. Would you be particularly happy about that? Sure, you?re going to eat, but that doesn?t mean you were treated fairly. :)

So you're eating when you were promised you would. Why do you care?

You need to get out more, dude. This kind of thing happens all the time in life. Probably a better analogy is you waiting in a long supermarket line, getting almost to the checkout, and somebody opens a new line and all the people behind you (including the ones who just got in line) just go right up to the front.

So when that happens, do you complain that you're owed some compensation from the store? Do you rant on the forums? Do you pitch a fit in the store?

Deal with it. Crap happens. You'll survive.

Absolutely not doubting that you have the tablet, just making a statement that the official street date was 8/7 for Gamestop per your receipt. Just wondering if a mandated delay was violated or if permission was granted to release 3rd party pre-orders.

Again, no information from Google, so all I can do is read information available from various sources and speculate.

I apologize! I thought you were doubting me. On my original receipt it did say SD 7/12 and now it does say 8/7 on the receipt I received today. However, gamestop was indeed given the ok to start selling them today.

Also the other rumors about there being a block in gamestop's system to prevent from selling them was true. I had to sit there for 10 minutes waiting for her to figure out how to actually ring it up, she had another email with her stating how to ring it up today. When she just scanned it it came up as $99,750.

Good news from my front! Charge just appeared :) and now the status went from "pending" to complete on the play strore. It has been "pending" at the play store since last week! Very excited.

Now I wait for the email:) Well, my hubs to tell me he got an email. :p

Pre-ordered 7/3 at 8:41pm

I love this little tablet. Anyway while i type this on my N7, guys keep in mind google isnt a hardware manufacturer and they arent a hardware seller. To be honest they had no clue what they were doing with this obviously. The should have shipped the other day if GS was gonna sell them today but nope. Heck even the GS employee didnt know he was okay to sell it today. Google dropped the ball yes. And the argument that amazon always ships stuff to customers on the street date like games, guys publishers have been coordinating this for years with online retailers and brick and motor stores. The is really googles first time launching a device through retailers like these. Cut them some slack.

And dont be whiny and ask to have the shipping fee refunded because we got ours first. Thats just absurd.

You cant compare amazon to ASUS/Google in this. Amazon is a 3rd part reseller who has to follow street dates unless they get the ok to ship early.

As far as google not having experience, what about the HTC nexus. They tried to sell it from the store and that was horrible. the Nexus S was ok better planning but sold through sprint. The Galaxy nexus no communication about what was going on and sold thru verizon and that was all horrible. Google has enough money to do proper research on how to do this. They dropped the ball. When you get poor service from a company you expect to be compensated even if its something small. When a waiter gives you bad services you don't tip or you talk to the manager. And fine to say Google doesn't know they are workign with ASUS and ASUS has been dealing with selling products for a while now. When you buy a product strait from the manufacture ( it was a join google and asus effort) you typically always get it early, or day of release. This whole mess is just being handled poorly. I shouldn't have to call google or asus to get an update. They should email me and say hey your order will be shipping today or tomorrow we had a mix up with the shipments. Google and ASUS aren't some small business they are a large business that should know better.

The analogy doesn't quite work because Gamestop was already going to be allotted their share of devices, just like all the other retailers. It's not like Google started ripping our ship labels off Play Store customers' Nexus 7 packages and put those on a truck to Gamestop to be sold in-store.

They allowed us to preorder from GOOGLE. They gave us their estimated shipping window of 2-3 weeks. They made no mention of retailers or other means of acquiring a Nexus 7, much less WHEN. We are now seeing CONFIRMED reports of Play Store customers receiving their tracking numbers and CC charges, if not the tablets themselves.

So considering all the facts, Google has delivered (sure, pun intended, what the hell) on it's promise to begin shipping Nexus 7 tablets directly from them to us Play Store preorder-ers at the roughly 2 week mark. They owe us NO apology, NO credit, NO refund on shipping or anything. We have been treated fairly, because there were no terms or conditions of the way we were supposed to be treated that involved being priority over any other means of acquiring this device.

Am I personally upset that I don't have my tablet already? A little, sure. I'm going to have a busy weekend next weekend, as well as a busy week, so this weekend would be the perfect time to relax on the couch and enjoy it. But it's not the end of the world, and I can't even stretch the truth enough to make it justifiable to demand anything from Google. If they don't ship my tablet until 3 weeks from now? Outside that 2-3 week window I was promised upon ordering? Sure, I'll ask for shipping cost to be refunded. But until then, I think the pitchforks and torches is blowing things WAY out of proportion, WAY too early.

I feel like it's a kid asking daddy for ice cream, and when he takes him and his sister over to get some he just happens to hand the first cone to the sister, so the little boy starts crying about it while the guy behind the counter is preparing his. That's my analogy to the big picture here.

ordered a 16gb June 29, 2012 3:33:03 AM UTC-4 and still nothing. This is unacceptable that the order hasn't even shipped yet but people can walk into a GS and buy one. We should of received our tablets just like apple does the launches, pre-order people get it release day. Like amazon does with release day delivery of video games.

So? You guys assume that pre-ordering puts you in some magical single file line and orders are fulfilled in a first come first serve manner, regardless of vendor. That's not how it works.

Purchasing agreements between Gamestop and Google/ASUS have likely been in place for months. That's how business works. Google doesn't put the pre-order page up for us and get a phone call from someone at Gamestop saying "hey, we'll buy 500,000!" for 2 reasons:

1) A company the size of Gamestop is physically unable to spin a purchase order through in that timespan. The amount of planning and logistics on their end alone would take longer than has elapsed thusfar.

2) See, the crazy weird thing about these situations is that Google/ASUS don't just "make a bunch of tablets". They fulfill orders. When Gamestop approaches Google and asks for X number of devices, Google/ASUS have to be able to manufacture that hardware. I swear sometimes people think that Google/ASUS have this giant warehouse of N7 devices that they just randomly pick out of to ship orders.

Gamestop, for their part, can sell the device to whomever they want. They do pre-orders as well, and they are completely unrelated to the ones made on the Google play store. Their "line" is not the same as our "line"

EXACTLY, thank you for explaining it. Google and GS have probably been in talks to sell the long before it was announced at IO.

I pre-ordered my N7 16gig from GS on July 10th and got it this morning. The thing is when I pre-ordered they would only take orders fot the 16gig..Thought it was strange at the time, but understand why now.

Difference is, the dad charged the son a fee for handing him the cone and didn't charge the little girl. That's sexism!

Good Job Google. Way to stick with your time frame 2-3weeks. My cc was charged and i guess I'm in the first wave. I shall continue to order from you.

Oooh! Now I have seen 8GB people being charged who ordered as late as 7/5! I might actually have a chance of being in the "first wave"!!!

I ordered an 8gb on 7/5 from Play. My CC was just charged.

07/13/2012 Debit Card Purchase - GOOGLE *DEVICES 227.90

You guys need to take a deep breath. Not everything is a conspiracy. You pre-purchased a device that said it would ship in 2-3 weeks and it's shipping within the 2-3 week window. You've all put far too much faith into the rumors that get pushed around on these forums, and now it's soured your opinion on Google.

Do I wish I had mine already? Of coruse. Am I going to throw a fit because someone can walk into Gamestop and buy one? No, because mine is still on it's way. Well within the timeframe Google provided when I agreed to purchase.

Amen, I could not have said this better. I am checking out of this thread. I still havent seen anything in my AMX, Play account or UPS, but so what. It will come. Honestly, reading this thread is making me think that many (not all) of you are spoiled little entitlement brats. Please, if this is the most traumatic thing that has happened in your life, or you hold a tablet in such high significance, or you are worried that someone else got the darn thing before you, then you really have a l lot of growing up to do. Go outside, enjoy the sunshine, breathe the air. Complaining has little value, and makes you all sound a bit silly.

To those who got their devices, enjoy, I am looking forward to your positive and negative comments on what you think and I will enjoy mine when it shows up.

Do you mean the "wallet"? I don't see a pending or complete.

Notice how its mostly people who got there's telling us who haven't to calm down and shut up! Pretty easy to say when you already have one! If it were vice versa I'm sure the people who preordered thru GS would be complaining if they didn't get theirs the same day as us who ordered thru GP! (Now watch how many ppl deny that and say they'd be ok waiting)

A guy stated earlier today that it seems like all the 8 gb ones are being processed first no.matter what day you ordered it from GP. A guy I work with ordered a 8 gb almost a week after I did and his just went through his bank and is getting ready to ship. I ordered the 16gb and I haven't heard anything yet. So is it true that all the 8gb ones are going first

No, in the play store when you see "order status". It has been on pending for us because the CC didn't go through the first time (entered wrong EXP date). So I do see some activity on our play account, wallet shows no sign of any changes at the moment.

Hope that makes sense. Google Play/Wallet is all new to me. :)

Pending charge reappeared on my Amex. I ordered the 8gb on 7/2

EDIT: To add that the order date now says July 13 in Google Play and was bumped to the top.

Has anyone with a pre-order for a 16 gb and only the 16 gb from Google seen any activity - credit card activity, email from ups, change in Wallet, or email from Google?
