i just saw on gamestops website they have pre-orders available for screen protectors for $30.. that's crazy.. just a sheet of plastic

I don't see why they are selling screen protectors since it has Corning Gorilla Glass.

You guys think it's rough looking for ship dates? I work at Gamestop, so it's way worse KNOWING that my Nexus 7 is a few feet from me and that I can't have it yet.

This morning was a soaring high as my manger texted me and told me they had gotten to the store followed by a crushing low as he told me we have to hold them until Google says we can sell them. But, hopefully it's soon.

This site is FUN. It's like Christmas when we were kids. The anticipation is just as good as Christmas morning. Anyway, not to be a bummer, but if UPS is the shipper, and they start shipping tomorrow, July 12, Thursday and it is two day shipping, then we get it Monday, as UPS doesn't deliver on Saturdays!!!!!!

I called Nexus support last night and we discussed quiet a few things. One was when would I receive my Nexus 7. Brent said better chance of next Friday instead of this Friday and said that all of the 1st week of orders are in packaging and awaiting shipment. You will get an email with tracking number when it ships. So I will wait a week before I start to get antsy. I wish though they would have been ready to ship after they announced it.

I pre-ordered mine from Google Play Store on June 29th. So I want mine in my hand the same day, or even a day before retail stores get it or they will get quite an angry customer.

I would think that Google is only sending enough units to retail stores to cover pre-orders placed through that store, and not an excess that could be placed on the shelf. At least until all pre-orders through the Play store have been fulfilled. Staples' website already says "Out of Stock" and I'm unable to find anything on the GameStop site regarding the Nexus 7 other than a screen protector. That tells me that Staples and GS have stopped taking pre-orders because they have already received their stock, and now have to wait for Google to fulfil pre-orders placed through the Play store. Just speculation, however.

I think we have to face it that we ain't getting these puppies (at least those of us who ordered through Google) until next week at the earliest. I do get the feeling that something happened in the background that has caused a delay of indeterminate length. Might must be logistics of getting them into position to ship, or it may be some last minute bug. Only the mucky mucks at Google really know what is going on, and they ain't talking.

I just called customer service and they must be trained to say anything to rebut any question with a vague annoying answer. When I asked what will Google do if a retail store sales them before a customer pre-ordered it through Play Store gets it, he said they don't get the $25 credit so you can choose what you want. I brought up the point the retail units at the stores still get the credit when they activate their device....he didn't have an answer for that.
