US release date could be July 12th!

I called Google and they said if I ordered before July 1st it would be shipping today or Monday...

I can't apologize for the "I got it first" mentality. Sort of comes with the arena of consumer electronics. I'm less bothered by not getting it first than I am about paying for the shipping AND not getting it first. If I didn't have to pay shipping and got it next week, or conversely if I paid the shipping but got it today, you wouldn't hear a peep out of me. Just paying shipping and getting it late feels like adding insult to injury.

Its also the fact that the mid july expectation sounded a lot like the end of november for the Galaxy nexus. So for people like me its more about just dropping an email and keeping me up to date. Don't make me join a forum like this to get my information. Its the responsibility of the manufacturer to set the expectation of how and what to expect. When the Galaxy Nexus was release you knew it was only going to be available from Verizon to start. And it seemed like this was only going to be available from the Play Store. Google may not have a lot of experiance in retail but you would think they would learn. Look at the HTC Nexus, then the Nexus S, the Galaxy Nexus.

To all of you that received it, have fun with it, and make sure to post your thoughts on the device!

It feels like we've been forgotten by Google....first Android device I've ever thought about getting, and this shipping snafu is leaving a bad taste in my mouth...at least Apple preorders make it into the hands of their customers on or before store launch date. I received the iPhone 4 a day early!!. Anyway, Google is showing they have no business in this arena if they can't do better than this. Don't blame it on UPS either, cause they are more than capable of handling large volumes.

Now now let's take it easy and revel in shared excitement :).

I should check AMEX now that I think about it...

EDIT: Nope, nothing. But they take forever, usually.

Same here, my AMEX shows nothing.

Just had the full charge pop up on my CC.

Ordered on the 27th soon after the PS went live. This isn't the pre-auth either, that disappeared over a week ago. Hopefully that means something from Google/UPS soon.

Now this might be my ignorance, but I was anticipating a preorder climate like an Apple release. I thought that I better preorder day one from the source or I won't be able to find one in the store for weeks, like how every Apple release goes. It never occurred to me that Google would start allowing preorders to other retailers and that those would be fulfilled before mine.

As a long-time Apple customer, that is what I assumed would happen. When I preordered my iPad 3, I got it on release day. I knew the delivery date and had a tracking number well in advance of delivery. I was able to get my device the same day that it was released without having to run around and wait in long lines. Clearly it was my mistake for thinking that Google would operate in the same manner.

Word on Twitter is that Asus are the ones to blame for this. They had an agreement with Google to ship only the play store orders first, but they went ahead and shipped to GS, staples, office depot, and the UK vendors anyways. Still pissed at Google for not handling this in a better fashion.

I've been spending my time reading up all the stuff on this thread for the past week. I've enjoyed the anticipation of everyone waiting for our new toys. For those of you who got yours today, I'm happy for you guys and I hope to get some reviews and updates on how you think of it personally on here soon. Hoping mines comes in sometime next week before I head home to visit the parents.

If this is true then shame on ASUS. But if this was something Google stipulated it would be upto google to make sure it was honored.

Is it just me or has anyone else learned to never order anything directly from Google ever again. I have had previous pre-orders but I knew when i was going to get it and if anything happened to delay it i got an email letting me know. Google makes some great products, there is no denying this, but if this is how they threat their customers I am not sure i want to give them anymore of money; with respect to devices because BING and Yahoo are horrible.

I am sure the product hardware will kick ass, their engineers are top notch, but they royally shat the bed in promoting their Play store getting these out. I ordered from the Play store with the intention of loyalty and the reasonable expectation that I would have it as soon as possible, but that is all clearly misplaced. They prioritized the retail outlets.

The irony is that they launched this thing to promote the Play store, but they really just brewed a lot of resentment toward it. That $25 credit is going to sit because it will take me awhile to be mature about ordering from it.

Congrats to all those that have received their Nexus 7 tablets so far! Hopefully the Google Play buyers will join you guys soon!

This is what happens when you don't make your own hardware. Apple controls their supply chain. That's why they can say iDevice will be in your hands on X date. If Google did indeed leave it up to ASUS, who I'm sure are fine vendors but not necessarily up to the large task, they have no one to blame but themselves for outsourcing it.

THIS.

I may not let the credit sit long, I'll probably use it on books or something... but the rest of this pretty much completely sums up how I feel at this point.

I wouldn't have complained if we got it on the same day. Hell I probably wouldn't complained if they had at least had the freaking courtesy to send an email letting us know wtf was going on, especially now that retail outlets are releasing them and many of us who decided to support Google the best way we could and order direct from their store haven't gotten a tracking number even, or had our bank accounts charged.

I do a lot of ordering online, and have done at least my fair share of pre-orders both online and instore. I've never failed to have an online pre-order show up on the same day retail outlets started selling... until now. Good job GOOG.
