It looks like Verizon may be doing another $20 price hike (even if you avoided the one back in November). I would check and see if you are going to see this hike by giving them a call.

If you weren’t hit with that price hike on November 15, but still have an unlimited plan with Verizon, call a representative and ask if you should be expecting a price hike on May 15 (or whenever your bill cycle resets after that date).

Update: I fixed the thread title since this seems to be for people who bypassed the November price hike.

Not cool. I am curious what people are paying for this now, price hikes included?

That's pretty ridiculous. AT&T spiked the unlimited data by only $5. I think that's only because of the flack they were receiving due to throttling.

This is not another price increase on top of the $20 some experienced last November. Droid Life has a better description:

http://www.droid-life.com/2016/04/01/verizon-unlimited-data-price-increase-phase-2/

"On November 15 of last year, Verizon raised unlimited data plan pricing by $20, from $29.99 to $49.99. According to sources of ours, that was only “phase 1” of Big Red’s plan to price unlimited data users out of their plans and features and into a tiered option. We still have two more phases to go, with the next starting next month.*

“Phase 2” will kick off on May 15 as a similar $20 increase to what we saw in November for lines that are out of contract that weren’t affected by the initial November 15 price increase. The specific details are that Verizon is “increasing the price of other data features with unlimited allowances $20 per month for lines that are out of contract.” Think unlimited hotspot or an older legacy plan that weren’t hit the first time around.

Keep in mind that this isn’t an additional $20 on top of the $20 you saw for your data plan in November; at least that is our understanding. In other words, your unlimited data plan isn’t going up $40 since November, just that initial $20."

Ah okay. Sounds like they're just trying to snag those who got around the previous one.

verizon are money hungry animals

But for $49.99 for unlimited data, it's still good for those who are still on it. Your other option are tiered data plans with other carriers and VZW.

I luckily was able to snag the crazy promo from T-Mobile that I don't think they will offer again ($100 for 2 lines with unlimited talk/txt/data). It is nice having a cheap bill and being able to consume whatever I want be it Google Play Music, Crunchyroll, YouTube, Netflix, etc. -- I like being able to pick up my phone and do whatever without the worry of a bill hike at the end of the month due to an overage .

Well, this sucks. I got my line on contract back in November to avoid this till November this year, so this is still going to hit me, or perhaps I can dodge it till November which is what I figured?

Maybe Tom Wheeler will come to our rescue again.. (fingers crossed)

All the other carriers have unlimited data but with some restrictions (cannot be used on tablets, modems, jetpacks, routers, or some other devices) also, att doesn't even support hotspot from a smartphone while Verizon offers an unlimited hotspot addon. TMobile doesn't offer unlimited hotspot addon.

Depends on the voice and text and other features that you have. For example, I am on the $15 save voice plan, so with the increase, I would pay $15 voice +$49.99 unlimited data, or $64.99 for the individual plan. I also have a 5 line family plan with $50 voice account access + $9.99 per line access +$49.99 unlimited data per line.

Note that I am currently paying the old $29.99 rate for now because all my lines are on contract

Att unlimited data also has a lot more restrictions that don't work for me as I have multiple data only lines with unlimited data and a smartphone with unlimited data and unlimited hotspot, which att doesn't allow. Also att service is pretty bad at my desk at work and at home whereas Verizon is excellent.

And Verizon had a single $20 increase from 2008 to present. The "uncarrier" went up $25 from 2013 to present.

ATT unlimited is only for customers that have Dish network too if I remember correctly. I thought Sprint and Tmo throttle you after a certain amount.

I wonder if this will affect those on old alltel plans like mine... Its a $89 friends and family plan with limited minutes... Or can i dodge it again...
Hmmm, we will see

What is the $15 save voice plan? I am interested in that only if its available. Any texts that you subscribe?

Oh wow....I thought I was one of the last people on earth still on an old alltell legacy plan lol
