Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

Right. Because the Bionic wasn't delayed either...
Yes, it was. What's your point? Do you really think this is the same thing? It is by far and away, not the same thing at all. It is not the situation they got themselves into with the Xoom upgrade either.

Keep trying. You will be able to claim that the phone is delayed and that VZW is pulling some sort of stunt come January 1, 2012 and actually have a legitimate point.

Well technically the Bionic was canned, right? The Bionic we have now is simply another device that was pushed faster in development and had spec changes to match the old Bionic and slap on the Bionic name.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure that qualified as a "delay" given that a device named the Bionic - "the first dual core LTE" phone, did not come out for roughly 9 months. But since VZW never announced a release date at CES, by your logic, it was just a "9 month waiting period" where no one had any right to speculate or express disappointment at the wait.

It's not analogous, but it was clearly what the poster you were responding to was referencing. Two devices that were showcased as the next best thing with releases that took longer than expected. In the Bionic's case, we know how long it was. With the Nexus, we'll have to wait and see.

No, it is not the same thing. The only expectation that I have right now is by the end of the year for this phone. Why? Because that is all that has been stated by VZW. Unlike the Bionic, which had an entirely different phone introduced from what was expected, the delay was common knowledge.

Ytram from AndroidForums.com was poking around and found a stock Galaxy Nexus image on Verizon's site. Nothing particularly useful but it's something.

I've convinced myself tomorrow is the day. Verizon said a new Android device every week. Nothing is on tap for this week. Bring on the Nexus.

NO! NOTHING WAS ANNOUNCED! You simply can't have a delay without a release date announced. You're not playing by the rule now. No announcement = no delay, and, as a result, you don't get to say the Bionic was delayed as a matter of "common knowledge."

Re: Put the VZ GN in the "rumored devices" forum.

1Q2012 is my guess at this point. The lack of information from Verizon just paints the picture that they do not care about this niche market craving the latest/greatest version of Android. Shoving the release into January would accomplish a couple things. First, inflate profits in 1Q2012, and second, screw some people who decided to "rent" one of their other more favored phones. I just hope they release the phone during the "double data" deal.

More on topic, I don't think this is vaporware. We know the phone exists, we know all the parts in it, we know Verizon is going to carry it, we just don't know the release date.
I said that the other week in the thread where we placed our bets on the release date for the reason of waiting out the folks who rented. I said 12 January 2012 back then and that is still my guess.

Why does Verizon keep tweeting about the Nexus? Makes no sense whatsoever to keep pushing people to the sign up page.
Marketing. They want to keep people crazy about this phone. They want to keep teasing us in the hope of generating demand. Looks like they have been pretty successful so far.

Aren't fiscal quarters different from yearly quarters?
For some entities like the government or a company like IBM yes. For other companies, no. A company can set their own start and stop to fiscal quarters.

Wrong, they were open ended with their release of the Bionic, just as they have been with the Nexus. They said that it would be released during the 2nd quarter.

You want to act like VZW has done something terrible and horrible to hurt you and other who want this phone. That simply is not the case. Keep trying though. I'm sure you've convinced yourself already that the big evil VZW company is doing this just to hurt you.

I personally don't think they are out to hurt anyone, but these demands that the phone companies are receiving as to what customers want, is making companies force out devices prematurely before they are ready because they are trying to one up each other. What I meant by bionic, was it was announced at CES, and for some reason, I want to remember scheduled for the end of first quarter release, I may be wrong there. It was delayed to the second, then third quarter. After waiting on that phone all year, I leaned my lesson.
The nexus has been said by samsung that it would be out in Nov., VZW said before year end. Now no one is sure. I don't really like waiting for anything, but better to get bugs worked out now, than to let your customers work them out.

Not at all actually. Frustrated it's not out yet, but understand that VZW is going to make whatever decisions they feel are in their best interest.

Release date = 12/22/11. Someone please send me a free Nexus when VZW confirms this and the phone is released. Not talking pre-order, talking in stores. Maybe able to get it a few days earlier through telesales, etc...If I'm wrong, I can take the criticism. When I'm right, send me the Nexus. Will not reveal source.

If that's true that is pretty late for Christmas sales. As long as I can get it this month I would be happy.

Looks like 12/8 got one more notch on the "likely to happen" board. P3Droid (sorry to invoke such a controversial name) tweeted about 10 minutes ago this: "Are you ready for it.. 1323302401 that is all you need to know !!!!"

It's Unix time. Check here: Mobilefish.com - Unix timestamp converter

Input the code into the calculator and look at the result: Thu, 08 Dec 2011, 00:00:01 (GMT)

LOL

If you're right you want everyone to send you a free Nexus, but if you're wrong all you want is a little criticism? Sounds downright unfair to me! If you're wrong you need to pledge to send everyone here a free Nexus. Names and addresses will be supplied when it can be confirmed that you are either right or wrong.

How does that sound to you? Sounds pretty good to me.

You're too kind. If he's wrong he should be forced to live with a Motorola RAZR v3 for the next two years.
