Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

I remember when the 1st round of Lte phone came out and ate through batteries one of the reasons was the architecture of the chips. Is the Prime going to be coming with the 2nd gen of chips that are supposedly much more energy efficient?

OMAP 4460, next gen omap chip which hopefully will do better on power with LTE.

Also the curve not fitting well in your pocket... is your thigh a flat box? I would think it might contour nicely if you put it in your pocket screen facing in.

Why is everybody crazy about the Prime? Let me count the ways:
? Huge 720p Samsung Display - 1280 x 720 HD resolution...and Sammy is making it. Sweet. This resolution makes the phone the first in the "mini-tablet" category. This phone is part of the new revolution. Why buy a tablet and a phone when you can buy device that is both...in one device?

Components - Love 'em or Leave 'em!
? Fast Dual Core 1.2 (or 1.5) GHz processors - one of the newest, fastest processors you can get.
? 1GB of RAM - Feel the Speed burning holes in your hand.
? 32GB of built-in storage - more room for more games, docs, podcasts, pr0n, ect
? 5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
? 1080p HD video capture support.
? 1,750 mAh or (2,000 mAh) battery

Appeal - why its Sexy
? Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich - total game changer OS with (rumored) facial recognition, more
? 9mm thin and Curved - bling bling.
? HD Screen - Wait. I already mentioned that. iPhone 4S is still 3.5 inches...That's so 2009!

That's been a strong rumor for weeks.

Exclusives are a joke. This kind if thing drive me crazy. Why not just launch on all 4 carriers, or at least the 3 major ones? I mean if apple does it why can't Google? Hopefully that rumor is false and everyone who follows this forum can get what they want. (how naive).

On a side note, can't wait to see the hitler videos of the nexus prime on sprint/att/t-mobile.

Well, Samsung has already launched a similar (GS2) device at great cost on three other carriers. They're going to sell those phones for awhile before launching. Also, ICS will eventually come to the GS2. When that happens the differences between the phones won't be as great.

For the average phone buyer I'm not sure there's a rush to launch the phone on other carriers.

I see why it is but still disappointed if its going to be like an an multi month window like it was for the nexus s. Having owned an captivate gs2 may get ics eventually but not an fan of waiting 6 or 7 months after ics is released to get it

Someone posted a good discussion on why google chose the omap4, and why ICS would make it really smoke in a way that it can't on gingerbread/honeycomb, but I can't find it. I thought it was in this thread but I've read so many it tends to blur. It was in a similer discussion about exynos (before the announcement of the new version).

Edit: found the link: http://forums.androidcentral.com/nexus-prime/106291-nexus-prime-131.html#post1287265

reading the benchmark from anandtech OMAP4460+SGX540 is also faster than Exynos 1.5GHz.
they compared the Exynos 1.5GHz with the OMAP4430 1GHz and there is no big difference in performance so the 4460 should be faster. In any case we will not lack performance.
