Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

Your pretty sure doesn't mean much. I see the rampant speculation in the thread, but my statement holds true.

Yes, and if you look at most of my posts, you'll see I've been pointing that out. But, we know ICS is coming, and we are probably rightly assuming a new Nexus is coming at some point. Now, if you think that the upcoming Google flagship/developer phone isn't what they are testing ICS on, you're nuts. What are they going to do, release another Nexus with an OS that will be old a month after it comes out? If they're both being developed, they're being developed together. That may be speculation, but its the most logical thing to be said in this thread

so, speculation is ok, as long as it's YOUR speculation?? LOL!!!

sorry, just had to pimp ya a little on that one... in my view, you're dead on - it makes absolutely no sense that the latest Nexus would come with anything other than the latest OS; and, if that's the case, then they have to be developing/testing the phone with that OS.

Lol, yeah, that's why I added in the logic part. It would make absolutely no sense any other way though. We know ICS is coming, therefore they are testing it on something. If there is a new Nexus on the way, ICS is on it right now. Logical.

Either that or its getting tested on an emulator only? I don't think so

I found this sorta interesting and semi-related:

Google, TI cozy up on Android Ice Cream Sandwich | Nanotech - The Circuits Blog - CNET News

As the above graphic indicates, TI will be a prominent part of the Ice Cream Sandwich rollout. This is a promotional image that TI will use for events "in the fall," according to an e-mail received from the company's PR representative today.

So, the 4460/70 was originally rumored to be in the Nexus Prime in that BGR report, right? Them releasing this promotional material seems to confirm some of the things we've heard about the Prime in regards to specs & timing.

WoW the hardware that the phone has is great but that phone IMO is not. looks ugly to me. Sorry to each there own but that phone is not for me... Great video thou..
No, that's just a test device sold to software developers.

i dont get how this forum proves anything...it confirms my hopes and dreams, but what makes you a reliable source?

Would be amazing if it was the OMAP4470, but unless El Goog delay the launch of the Nexus (Or TI get it released much sooner than expected) it will be the 4460.

This was interesting,, coming to phones in 2012. Also talks about 4Th quarter for the Nexus and if that's true then the October date most likely the announcement date

lol thanks ...

i would tend to agree with you, but for the fact that it's a pure Google phone. therefore, what Google wants, Google gets.

right on cue to my earlier post. i think this announcement from Google comes pretty close to confirming at least the OMAP part of the rumored specs for the Prime. and, i agree that with the timeline announced by google for ICS to be coming to devices (the fall), imo it's starting to look a little more like the BGR article, and Phil's post, have some legs. don't get me wrong (crzycrkr :)), we still have quite a ways to go, but i think we're headed in the right direction.

Not really because like it says in the benchmarks it is running 2.3.4 and it would get ICS not come with it from the start so that makes it more likely it could release before ICS is out.

I should've been more clear. I meant if it's being released with ICS, not getting ICS eventually.

I would be surprised if ANY of the high end devices coming out Q3/4 this year don't get ICS eventually.

I know Samsung is supposed to be the manufacturer of the Prime, but it doesn't make a lot of sense that they would use OMAP processors when they make their own. But Motorola uses OMAP processors quite a bit. LG has also used OMAP processors (cue the picture of the hamster turning slowly in his wheel), and LG has an unknown phone on the leaked Verizon map from the other day....

see my post above, and the link provided by bplewis. you can't think of this as a Sammy phone - it's Google's phone. it's just that Google doesn't manufacture phones, itself. instead, it selects the hardware, chips, screen, etc from whoever they want, and then put Google's OS on it.

I really wish they would stop making processors entirely. One of the main reasons android development is more painstaking than iOS development is all the different processors.

While that is true and I somewhat agree with you this is also one of Android's strong suits, choice. We have many choices when it comes to hardware. This is very nice but it does make decisions a little more difficult to make, at least for us enthusiasts. I wonder if ICS will help to alleviate some of that frustration with coding.

3 is more than enough though. Qualcomm, Nvidia, and TI is plenty of options.

I think Honeycomb already does that. Its all based off Terga 2 and reworked with the Snapdragon. If they take the time to code their software to take advantage of each processor (which they seem to be doing) then it could become a non issue.
