Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

Just for fun stuff and giggles I decided to do a little looking around on the internet for Nov 3. It turns out that it is the birth date of John Montague. Most everyone (including myself at first) may say: So what? Well, it turns out that Mr. Montague is the inventor of the sandwich. What a better day to release the first phone running Ice Cream Sandwich than Sandwich Day?

Edit: Also, Nov 3 1964, Washington D.C. residents are able to now vote in presidential elections. Could this have to do with the vote casting part of the poem?

Think it was just something to do to kill time. Not to mention it would be very interesting if this does release on that day. I never get my hopes up about a release until I have something from the carrier/MFG but it is always fun to help along rumors if at all possible.

If VZW's version has a physical keyboard thath pretty much ruins the device for me.

I know... that would make the device for some people, I don't want it. Hopefully it will come in different kinds, one with a keyboard, and one without, even though that would add more fragmentation. I will probably buy it even if it has a keyboard, though. Sigh.

He just said the keyboard version is the one he prefers, doesn't mean that's the one coming to verizon. I mean, it could be.... but I didn't take it that way.

He also said he sits in the corner with a beer and a boner. Well duh, who doesn't?

So glad I sent back the Bionic :-D

Please no keyboard for the Verizon version! I'm begging you!

I've always downplayed the Apple thing, but it's definitely not a true iPhone competitor if has a keyboard. The keyboard will play to a sizable niche, but most people are used to touch screen devices.

For me, it would be like a dream had come true...I need pinched...someone, hurry! :D

How does that cause more fragmentation exactly?

I disagree wasn't that one of the things that made the OG Droid more appealing than the iphone?

The only reason I own an OG Droid is because I was eligible for an upgrade and I wanted a smartphone. There was no choice at the time for non-keyboard version that made sense. The keyboard may have made it more appealing for some, but not for me.

I for one will skip the device all together if a keyboard is part of it. For me, a physical keyboard just cheapens the device. It makes it substantially thicker and inevitably "loosens" and makes the phone feel creaky and cheap. As far as I', concerned, the more physically moving parts a phone has, the more there is to become broken.

And at 4.65 this is already a big phone. Most large display phones make up for their bigness by being really thin. This is going to feel like brick in your pocket.

wouldn't having a keyboard on one version of a device and no keyboard on another increase the difference of the hardware google has to support? this probably wouldn't be a big issue, just something that would increase the time google has to write updates for these phones, right?

sorry... that was pretty poorly worded, but i couldn't figure out a way to word it better.

if its having a keyboard, I sure hope its not the GSM (worldwide) version. A physical keyboard alone is enough to break the deal for me.

lol so whats your point?

From my understanding the problem with the fragmentation isn't so much the hardware, but it's a software issue. Sense, Blur, Touchwiz and whatever else is out there. Plus the hardware isn't an issue if they both have the same hardware specs.
