Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

There's not much to go on with this "second device." It's basically vaporware at the moment. We're basing this on a tweet and a dubious blog source.

I guess that's also part of the reason why I was leaning towards there being only one device. There are only so many leaks to go around, barely enough for one device, let alone two. :)

ya, I just wanna mention/point out that Super AMOLED Plus isn't Pentile, it's RGBRGB, Super AMOLED HD would go back to Pentile RGBG, so one way or another, that fact is wrong.

True, but if we toss the keyboard device rumor we also toss the November 3 launch date rumor.

Too much speculation at this point to really know what is right and what is wrong. I think pretty much all we can expect right now is some sort of Nexusy device sometime around November.

Going back to twitter thing:
Be it a Droid or Nexus branded new toy, with dual cores “hd” screens, fancy new widgets and more….The one with the keyboard is what I enjoy

This could be mentioning two devices on VZW. It's definitely written in plural. Everyone just assumes he's talking about the phones on the other carriers.

Droid branded = Charge 2 with keyboard and ICS
Nexus branded = Galaxy Nexus

That was my first impression as well. Two devices makes way more sense....

i had initially interpreted the plural usage as meaning that there was one device (whether it be eventually named Droid or not), but 2 different configurations - pkb and not. but, with this recent slate of rumors, i think your interpretation makes more sense. it would also answer DolfanCole's questions/concerns about releasing 2 devices so close together: one has a pkb, one doesn't; one is a Droid brand, one isn't; one has Touchwiz and other "great" [read with sarcasm] preloaded apps, and one doesn't....

i'm pretty much in, hook line and sinker, for the 2 different devices theory.

I was reading about this the other day. The phone with the keyboard could have actually been about upcoming phone and not related to the Nexus at all. Maybe just talking about things to come.

So it would be more or less the same hardware, except for the keyboard, but the experience is different, right?

Well, the Nexus *presumably* will be a stock device running vanilla android with no bloatware. The Droid Prime, on the other hand, would be running Touchwiz on top and be loaded with anything Verizon wants to put on it.

I'd love to see the Nexus actually come out stock/unbloated on Verizon...but I'm just not sure VZW will release a phone without their Vcast/bloat nonsense.

I don't think we really know enough that answer that question with any certainty. It's quite possible both phones release with stock and that Touchwiz is added later. Who knows.

Ok another thought... if Verizon was supposedly supposed (hehe) to get the Prime first, with other carriers to follow in the coming months, what happens if Verizon gets a different phone than everyone else?

Really no one knows right now, especially with this "two phone" theory that seems like it might be accurate. If it is, in sounds like the Nexus will land on Verizon sometime in early November. There will be a period of exclusivity, and then the device will move to the other carriers. The Droid Prime would be a Verizon only device, basically replacing the Samsung Charge, and probably come around the same time, maybe a little later, but never branch to other carriers.

Again, this is all purely speculation. I'm basing this on the same stuff everyone else has read. Take it with a grain of salt.

O so we still think the nexus is coming to Verizon? I was under the impression that the prime would be the nexus-ish device on Verizon.

Like I said, no one really knows. I sure hope it does - and I think there's a good chance, but we'll just have to wait.

The prime is a Droid. Droids are exclusive to Verizon. The Galaxy Nexus, based on pandas poem, will be available on all carriers.

Wrong. Verizon is getting the Nexus first, then the other carriers will follow. There is no droid prime. It's made up.

Not trying to troll, but we really can't be sure of that. It seems there may be multiple devices coming (one with a physical keyboard) one of which could be a Droid branded "Prime." We know very little that is 100% guaranteed right now, and the droid prime being "made up" certainly isn't included in that group.
