Verizon: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

I'm not going to preorder. I'm going to go into a Verizon store on release day and pay off half of what I owe on my S8 and return it to Verizon and then get the Note 8.

My finances will thank me for doing that.

I think I'll be going through best buy to get the 150 off. I'd rather pay 32/month than 40 even though it's not much.

I'll be selling MY S7E. Never had a phone that didn't have a scratch on it. Hopefully with the wireless charger case and charger I can get $400 for it locally?

Also, does the note 8 use USB-C cables or will regular micro USB work? I think I still have my USB-C from the Note 7.

Yeah, I know that it will show what I owe when I go to order, just didn't know if it was a smoother transaction and how it would affect that trade in value that vzw is giving. I'm honestly on the fence with the whole thing. Any opinion would be appreciated. I have the 15th off, and could easily go be the first one in my store, which I have 2 verizon stores, a best buy, and a walmart within about 5 miles of each other, but would I be pretty much guaranteed a phone by doing so? Assuming I'm first in line, they should have at least one phone in stock you'd think?? I've always pre-ordered. Ironically this year I requested that whole week off of work, which works out well.

The note 8 will be Type C connector. I've seen anywhere from 200-500 for the S7E, but I'd expect to get $200-$300 realistically.

that's still the debate I'm having, I just paid off the 180 left on my g6(got a steal of a deal on mmoral day for it at BB. I like the half off at Verizon idea but don't like how they subsidize it over 2 years, thinking about taking the best buy route for the instant off and sell my g 6 for cash and put what i used to pay off my g6 back in my pocket

I'm not debating what route to go to for the best deal. I have a 256 gb iphone 7 plus to trade in, and I'm assuming I'll max out that $480 credit vzw is giving. The way I understood them subsidizing it over 2 years was you would see your payment go to $20 roughly per month, or am I mistaken? Your plan definitely works, if you sell it privately and put that money back into your pocket. For me it's just a matter of instore vs preorder. I'm also wondering if we can double dip on the freebies, since vzw lists the same promo as Samsung, but you claim it through them? I assume probably not lol.

I've also got a Samsung wireless charger for my S7E. Will that one work with the note 8?

It will work, but depending on the model of wireless charger I think that it will either be slower or faster. I know the new convertible charger is supposedly quicker somehow. From my vast experience of selling phones, don't include any accessories, people generally don't care what ya have, unless it's something hard to obtain, as in a special case or something.

I think I am going to just preorder through Verizon and hope they give me more than the 280 trade in quoted in general for my 128 gb Pixel Xl which is in really fine condition, both cosmetically and otherwise. I was thinking of trying to take the sim out of it and stick it back in my old LG G3 till I trade it in, so it doesn't get hurt between now and then. Even if I only get the 280 on it, it just seems like a hassle to deal with both Samsung and Verizon.

Of course Best Buy is usually the cheapest at launch/preorder but don't expect to be one of the first with the phone. They are usually the slowest to ship and pick up in store can be iffy. But hell my S8 Plus is holding strong.

Hey Clint!!!!!

Yikes! I bet you could find a cash buyer at that quote.

They talk about 50% for trade in of "qualifying device" for former N7 owners. Which phones qualify for the big trade in?

i would imagine the newest ones like the z2 force, g6, iphone 7 and 7+ and galaxy s8 and s8+ but that is my speculation not the true list

oh well just realized the lg uses a micro sim and the Pixel a nano. Guess I just have to be careful with the Pixel for the next 3 weeks.

More hassle to find a buyer than just to do it through Verizon. I am hoping they up that a little as part of the deal for the Note 8 but sometimes, even though I am
always tight on money less hassle and more convenience is worth it.

I'm not seeing it either
I'm seeing it. On the home page :).
