Verizon: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

yeah, thanks. I live in a major city and the VZW store is just a few blocks away. totally walking distance. I didn't like the pre-order experience.

So, also I think I'm gonna get the gray. I like it better than the black, even though the phone will get a case right away. :)

I'm going with gray also. I love it. 1st time not going black, but having no color on the front helps. The back can be whatever we want!

the black is texture-less and just looks blah. if they only run some subtle pattern through the plastic, but they know no one uses these phones without a case. For example the back of my Note Edge is almost black (dark gray) but has grip and texture, it's quite nice. The blue is cool too and may eventually come to the US. but gray looks classy.

I agree completely, whether its the first or second recall should not really make a difference, the product was defective through no fault of the consumer. Samsung actually reissued the product and stated it was safe. They should honor those consumers that trusted samsung enough to buy a phone that had been catching fire.

I spoke to someone this morning with Verizon customer service, and he said that they will be allowing those of us who had to switch phones after the second recall to turn them in at 50% paid. They are working with Samsung to make this happen. This is for those of us who did not qualify for this deal as of yesterday. I went to a retail store and manager confirmed. We should know the exact details within the next week. I switched to the lg-v20, and I can't wait to turn it in and get back to the Note line. I do not know if we'll be able to get the $475 off on top of this deal. There was still confusion on that part, but at least we won't have to pay the last 12 payments.

This would be fair and welcome by me. Contrary to what some are saying on this forum, I never expected or felt entitled to use a replacement s7e for almost a year for free.
Paying off 50% seems more than fair for everyone involved and it's good public relations for Samsung and the carriers to do a little something for the note7 buyers who are stuck in between due to having a replacement phone that is not yet paid off.

Sure hope this comes to pass. If it does, I will definitely buy a Note 8!

I was part of the Note 7 debacle and traded for a S7E the 2nd time around. With a cracked screen but fully functioning phone, am I just SOL for any kind of deal on the Note 8?

I was worried that no one would know what I was talking about at the Verizon store, but the manager had received an email. The regular employees were still unaware that a change in policy was in the works. If anyone is looking to confirm, just speak to the store manager at a "real" Verizon store.

Wow, if they do that I am going to be totally PO. I just ordered my Note 8 after paying off my S7 Edge for $490. I returned both of my Note 7s after the recall.

This would be great, people who paid outright for their replacement phones will get the $480 or $425 off the Note 8, those of us on payment plans should just have that applied to the balance due on their replacement phones. We are not asking for special treatment, just let us apply the promotion so it helps us.

A few reps told me the N8 does fall under the annual upgrade or Edge up... (Or whatever it's called now) .. But I remained skeptical because it's nowhere on the website. Well I was just told whomever I spoke with was misinformed because the N8 is most definitely NOT available for annual upgrade. So if I order it, I have to pay it off in full before I'm able to upgrade again. This is disappointing & since 2 out of my 3 lines are out of contract, I'm going to look at other carriers that do offer early upgrades after 50% is paid off. I don't get why VZW reps aren't consistent with the information they give out. I'm just glad I didn't fall for it & order already.

This annual upgrade issue is make it or break it for me. I hope we eventually find out more before Sept 15th. Because as long as the S8+ is still eligible I'm more tempted to go that route.

in my experience with Verizon, especially through the two Note 7 recalls, there was not a single clear voice or policy. Everyone told me something different. Two of the customer service people on the phone line told me upfront they didn't know anything for sure that there were conflicting things being told to reps. And no one in the store knew even as much as the phone reps. I know that was a special case, but I have asked for names, noted dates and written down conversations and requested emails ever since not because I don't trust the reps but because they are not always given the correct information. Having been middle management once, I know for a fact that the people at the top don't always share what they want or intend with the folks who deal with the public.

Does anyone know if the physical devices, that is to say the Note8s themselves, are in the United States awaiting distribution or would global thermonuclear conflict set-back the Note8's release indefinitely?
