Verizon is giving me a headache

Verizon tech support called me back and agreed its the device. They said however all they can offer me is a replacement Droid Maxx. I declined because I'm tired of buying more screen protectors and taking the time to install perfectly.

The other thing they asked me to do is:

1.) Run in Safe Mode for a week. Not going to happen. A day isn't good enough. They want a week.

2.) Go without a case. I've dropped calls without a case but they want a more extended period which is beyond acceptable.

Still, even if I did this, they said my only options are a replacement Droid Maxx or to live with it. They said in a 30 days time between all outgoing and incoming I've dropped 24 calls. To them that's not a lot. To me that's unacceptable.

I may be speaking out of anger but Verizon can go... Use your imagination.

Edit: Now I have to call back because I'm over my minutes by 63. Every time they called me they did so from a non air time free number. Unbelievable.

Edit #2: Called me back for some reason and offered a G2 or an S4. I declined because I will never use a G2 ( said to have voice quality issues, dont like the Android skin and have had bad experiences) and the S4 battery is so weak I wouldn't be able to do it. Maybe I'm being picky but at this point I'm maybe going to T-Mobile tomorrow to check it out.

I own the G2 on verizon and have zero voice quality issues. This is my second one (changed device color from black to white). The antenna/radio is way stronger than my Samsung ever was. The battery is one of the strongest you will find in any device today. I know you aren't a fan of LG but the G2 is a great device.

They do but there is a way to clear it. I think the process can be found on the XDA site. It is worth a try and if it doesn't work, you can get a replacement Droid Maxx.

I am technologically advanced enough to do so but I really am cautious after all of these issues. Sure I can go back but then I have to make sure I do go back properly. Its a solution without a doubt but in no way, shape or form should I have to do so. I'll consider it though on the account that my options are limited as it is anyways. I'm still in the "Verizon is terrible" state of mind and I would rather not do something nd regret it.

The G2 was offered but then the supervisor ended up telling me to upgrade to any phone I like and sign a new contract. Even though were still discussing options here I'm nearly positive its all for none. My options are laid out on the table and whether I like it or not I have to choose one. I just love my last option which Verizon didn't mention even though they mention "Deal with it". That option is leave but they know the only other decent carrier here is ATT and that would be far more expensive for me.

As a note one tech support rep told me people constantly call in for radio issues on the G2. The call quality is weak and LG hasn't solved it. Seems to sound as if some do and some dont have the issue. I know there's a thread in the G2 forum complaining about this though.

The Note 3 runs as a slightly bigger battery (3200) but really it's all null since you can buy spare batteries.

I spoke with an executive (different from the number provided since he responded to my email) and he said he will do anything possible to help. I have his contact information so I'll contact him again shortly.

I talked to another tech support rep and dropped a call in the process. He says like everyone else us MAY he the phone but is inclined to believe it has to be a tower because its an at home issue only. My replacement Maxx will arrive today and he will contact me tomorrow afternoon to see if it helps. If it doesn't he will file a more detailed (3rd) trouble ticket and go from there. If no resolution is offered by January 1st he said he is going to push for a Note 3 replacement because I've been through the grinder for over a month by that time. He then said if we can get that done and the Note 3 doesn't fix it then I should just consider dropping Verizon if I'm tired of the issues. He did say though that there is zero reason this can't be fixed though. He did state the obvious though and said to "never let the unlimited data go" and that if it comes to that then "consider a new carrier". Definitely the best tech support rep I've talked to in a long time.

So that was a positive experience and we shall see how this ends. I just want this fixed and then it will be all good.

Edit: One option was a network extender but I'm not thrilled about having one of those in my house when I know there's no reason for it. I Googled and it uses your internet (I knew this) but its open to anyone within a small distance so their cellular calls and data go through my extender, through my secure (yes it stays secure) router and then Verizon. It may not be a lot of data but still Comcast will likely enforce a 300 GB cap and I nearly hit that @ home with all the streaming and digital game downloads on the new consoles. But most importantly he said I'd most likely have to pay for it.

I was given one for free by verizon. whether or not you will like it depends on how close to your neighbors you live. If you live in attached housing, I assure you that you will hate it. They say the umbrella or whatever it is called is only 15 ft, meaning that a phone has to be within 15 feet to connect. IME, it is more than double that. so yes, if any of your neighbors have verizon, they will be making calls through your internet and if they are using 3G data, that will be going through your internet, too.

I ended up unplugging mine because of the neighbor issue. I called and explained why the network extender was not a solution and was offered to be let out of my contract.

Exactly why I won't do it. I don't live in a town house but still that 40 feet or so is too much. I have no contract so I'm free to walk but Verizon works better than anyone everywhere I go so its difficult to just drop it right now.

My opinion only. I had the lg g2 and returned it because it kept going to 3g or voice only more often than the s4 I had. You, just like me, are in the Chicago area and we shouldn't have any coverage issues. My maxx has been mostly solid, except for last weekend. We went to the Kenosha outlet mall just over the IL/WI border and in the stores I was barely getting unusable 3g, wife has an iFOLLOW( iPhone) 5s and was getting 3 bars LTE and working fine.

I would steer clear of the G2 and S4, again, my opinion only based on experiences with both devices. Though, if they only choice was a G2 or S4, G2 all day because the battery is pretty darn good.

Definitely call back the executive relations, they have the power to work magic and may be get you the note 3.

I'm going to see what the Verizon tech support can get done first because the Maxx is my first choice. If that fails I'm going a step further. As you said there's no reason Verizon should be messing up here. 5 years of no problems and one day I wake up and the issues are daily.

As you said I wouldn't do a G2 for those above reasons as LG has done that to everyone I know and the S4 battery is terrible.

I have the GNote3 and the Moto X and I am testing them side by side in my "known trouble area." Both are reporting the same signal strength and are comparable on speed tests. The GNote3's battery is larger and so lasts longer than the Moto X, but the Moto X's call quality is better. The Moto X is snappier than the GNote 3, I am sure due to TouchWiz slowing the GNote 3's responsiveness down.

I haven't tested the cameras out but the GNote 3's screen is of course phenomenal. The Moto X, due to its smaller size, looks pretty good side by side with the GNote 3, though. The Moto X feels so good in the hand, and I really like that ergonomic advantage. The GNote 3 is just frickin' huge.

I posted this in the Droid Maxx forum also.

Spoke with Tier 2 Moto Tech and they said to send my phone in. They will look at it but 99% sure nothing will come of it. So I called Verizon and spoke with a manager and they said an Alternate Replacement isn't possible unless Motorola takes responsibility and acknowledges this as a legitimate problem. Motorola won't do this as they're blaming my multiple routers and Verizon instead of themselves. They still don't acknowledge any knowing about Bluetooth static which has been talked about and complained about here and to them.

Verizon says my options are as follows if I want a different device and to keep Unlimited Data.

1. Full retail.
2. Payment Plan which is ALSO fill retail.

Thank you Motorola for breaking my phone with an update. You're the best!

Google broke the bluetooth on my GNex with an update and then end of lifed it. At least the Droid Maxx is not end of lifed and if it is software, they can fix it in an update.

That's great but they won't acknowledge it. That's the least of my worries I need the call drops fixed but doesn't seem to be coming. :(

I went out and paid retail for a Note 3. Didn't want to but I'm tired of the aggravation.

Samsung and Verizon refused to acknowledge all of signal/radio issues with the GNex.

Hopefully your GNote 3 wil perform better for you than mine has. The GNote 3 radios are better at holding onto a 4G LTE signal than my GNex, but I still get too many dropped calls.

I had zero issues with my Note 2 so I don't see this being an issue. We shall see though.

Not one dropped call since I dropped the Droid Maxx for a Note 3 on Sunday. Same network. Same WiFi. No issues. Makes no sense.
