Verizon Marshmallow Incoming Today 2/16

Anyone noticing that wifi seems to hang up a bit more after the update? Doesn't seem to connect to websites as quickly

Oh yeah...for sure. Aside from my decreased battery life this the other issue. Anybody have any ideas on this? Between the battery and the slow Wi-Fi I'm getting eyes for the S7...which is sad because my G4 is not even a year old.

I've noticed that GPS is staying stuck on after upgrading. A reboot shuts it off, but I think it's related to using Google Maps. Normally I keep it set to battery saving location (networks and Wi-Fi). If I use Maps and change to using GPS, that's when the location indicator stays lit on my status bar. Even when I change back to battery saving or even turn location off all together, the indicator stays on. See attached screen shots.

I've also noticed my alarm app isn't respecting the ignore optimizations setting. I changed it so it should be ignored but it still doesn't always activate. Thankfully I was cautious enough to have another device not on MM set to go off, so I haven't overslept. I'm going to email the developer, but a problem nonetheless.

Forgot to attach my screen shots. XD

Can't find the thread...but someone helped me with that after the MM update. Its some kind of Google Maps notification. Just open up maps and hit ok to the notification. The location notice will then disappear. In my experience it has come up right after the last MM update and the recent maps update.

I didn't have any notifications in Maps the last time I used it, but I'll look into that more if I see it stuck on again.

I've noticed that I can turn off my wifi, leave an area, reenter a wifi hotspot and it will automatically turn back on and connect. Does anyone else notice this?

So far I am only finding two problems... curious if anyone else is seeing this.

1) When setting the alert sound in Hangouts for SMS or Hangouts messages, it does not save and always defaults back to the "Default Ringtone (VZW Airwaves". These files are in the notification folder on the device storage, and were the same clips I've used successfully for years, including on this phone with Lollipop.

2) iSyncr does not work - it says the device does not respond. (I am going to email them about this, it may be an iSyncr problem)

So, I have been using MM for a while now, but it appears to have some problems. I didn't get the boot loop that other people have gotten, or bricked the phone. But features seem to not be working, the LED isn't giving me notifications that I have SMS, email, facebook/messenger, it just doesn't work at all except now only for charging (green) & warning (red) when it is in the range of dying. I cannot turn the screen on or off anymore by double tapping it, the wifi doesn't connect well now where I live with an open wireless signal, but when I am downtown it's almost at 90 - 100% strength, I don't have data, so I cannot comment on that because I am in Canada and was working at the SC State Fair when I got the G4 through Verizon.

iSyncr works for me on MM. The only thing I had to do was grant it access to my SD card where I keep the music files. Wireless syncing tells me it failed, but only after syncing whatever I told it to. I checked my music app and everything was there that was supposed to be. Not sure why I got the failure message at the end of the process, but it didn't hurt anything. So I'm not sure it's an iSyncr problem, although they may be able to shed some light on it. I'm thinking it's one of the quirks where some of us are having luck in some areas of the MM update, and some are having problems. I notice lots of users here claim better battery life, and mine is really struggling in that regard since MM, so I'm thinking this iSyncr issue you're having may be a MM thing and not an issue with the app developer.

iSyncr has been working for me, as well.

Maybe try an uninstall/reinstall of it, if you haven't already.

It's been working over Wifi (which I hadn't tried in a few years, due to previous issues). If it works via Wifi, I am good. I did email support to see if they had any ideas, but with it working over Wifi I'm not overly concerned.

My battery usage has been ALOT better on MM - took it off at 7AM yesterday and I'm in the 40's right now, with minimal-moderate usage.

Now if I could just figure out the notification sound issue, I'd be good.

What notification sound issue are you having?....just curious. MM fixed a text message notification sound issue I was having.

OK, so on the plus side, battery life for me has been significantly better the last two days.

On the negative side, I am having sound issues. After sending a couple text messages, everything seems to go silent. No more sounds from keyboard, no more sound when swiping the screen or tapping on and off. Also, when I make a bluetooth call in my car, it does not ring through the stereo but the sound does come thru when the call connects.

Also, the location symbol stays present in the status bar even when location is turned off.

Rebooting fixes the sound issue until I send a couple texts and it starts all over again. (using google messenger app and thumb keyboard)

Going to try a FDR this weekend when I have some time... hopefully that will fix things.

My phone is back to not waking up from going to sleep.
I'm having to do a battery pull to get it working again then at times the very next time it goes to sleep it won't wake up again.
Verizon is going to have to fix this or replace this P. O. S. phone, this is totally unacceptable!

I am having the same problem again as well!

I'm seeing this as well. Less of a problem on Chrome than on Dolphin, but I'm seeing it with Tweetcaster, News and Weather, and other apps. It's not bad enough that I'm willing to FDR, but it's certainly enough to be quite annoying. Any suggestions would be welcomed!

Installed MM on my G4 last night. Standby battery for 7 hours is giving me 94%. My SD card didn't brick, WiFi automatically connects at home and work. I haven't really played with my phone, but so far, only real difference I've noticed in general use is they doubled the number of taps to unlock my Home Screen.
