Verizon raising the price for Unlimited Data Plan by $20 after November 15, 2015

Is there still an option for a 2 year plan with a reduced price note 5 if I dump USP? I can't pay $800 for a phone. It's just silly.

Well there are loopholes to get subsidized phones on UDP. But 50 answer your question, if you moved to a tiered data plan on the nationwide plan then yes you can still get subsidized phone pricing

hey guys,

I called into Verizon customer service and asked for the 100 mins & 100 text msg loyalty promo to extend my contract so that I could keep the lower price on my unlimited data plan.

the customer service rep knew what I was talking about and she mentioned that unlimited data plan customers were calling in using that 100 min & text msg loyalty promo to extend contract for a year. though I called today, I went online to my Verizon account to see that my contract (I was previously out of contract for 3 years now) was extended to Oct 14, 2016. further I saw under my plan mins that there was the promotions of 100 mins & 100 texts added.

oh and she added that it was good that I called before 11/15. lastly I asked her if I could extend contract under this for 2 years, but she said only 1 year.

hope this helps guys!

Hey GTvert 90, I need some help with the Bestbuy trick. The last time I used it was for my wifes line last year. There was a option to keep existing plan. I am trying to use it on my line. My lines contract just expired and I'm trying to keep udp and avoid the price hike. I am trying to order a Note 5 on my line but there was no option to keep exsisting plan. I went through the steps credentials, etc.then there was a button to click to send to Verizon. Now, I am up to the last step to click to buy phone. I am hesitant to do it because it is different then the last time. I saw that you just did 3 phones using the Bestbuy trick. Did you encounter the same process? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is that Vert a mustang? I have a 92 Vert LX 5.0

Just keep going ahead with the order

Does adding that promo change your upgrade date?

Yes, I want the tiered. I have no phones eligible to switch lines with to keep udp. I also have my doubts about whether it will still work. I looked online and couldn't find tiered data plans any more. Anybody got a link so I can check prices?

There are also unofficial offerings like the Verizon max 6gb plan for $30, ymmv on those.

Since your wife is on tdp and on contract, I would just use Verizon online to transfer the upgrade from your line to her line then get the device and activate on her line first then put your wife's existing phone back on the line. You can either use the new phone or sell it

Just got my udp extended a year.. just dail *611 and tell them to put you on the promotion of of 100 extra minutes or texts by doing this it will extend your contract by one year.. The customer service representative gave me both promotions but was only able to extend my contact by a year.

Good Luck Everyone!

I just tried to do this. I also called the customer retention dedicated line to do this. They both claimed they never heard of it and wouldn't do it. Can you give me the magic words or explain better how to get this 1 year extension? Does it not apply to me because under my nationwide my wife has a 2 gb plan is is still on contract? I am line admin and I have udp with expired contract. I would really appreciate your help. This sounds great to me

same here call 611 yesterday talk to a really nice person ask for the 100 mins he try to do all he could and said nothing was available for the plan i have i have a family plan 1400 and he did not push me to go to one of the new plans , one of my problems is i feel we should be able to upgrade our cells if we are paying 50 for data not a payment plan changing us full price

My contract was ending 12/29/15, I called today for a 100 bonus minute promotion and it extended my contract to 10/26/16, in fact not only that I am not available for an upgrade so I could do the BB method and get a new phone. The guy also mentioned that because my contract was extended I would not be charged the 20 dollar hike for another year. Best thing ever so far. At first he didn't see the promotion but then he saw it in another place. He understood that I wanted to keep the unlimited data and was looking at everything so I could keep it.

I called back again and this time I got it! My contract now says 10/21/16. Just a regular 611 service rep was able to do it. The special save customers rep said he never heard of it. I don't know what to suggest other than wait an hour and call back...or I just got lucky. In a year I will get the $20 increase but not now. It did not affect my ability to change phones but of course to keep udp you have to pay full price. Rep was not sure if I could do a payment plan but it would have to be 1 year not 2. I pay up front anyway for points on my credit card.

The new contract does show on my verizon app. The extra 100 minutes does not. I don't know why but I cared more about avoiding the $20 increase. I never use all my minutes nor all my texts.

By the way my old contract expired in 2013 so you do not need a currently closed contract.

It also changed my upgrade date and moved it up two months which is fantastic.
Could you see any notation of extra minutes or messages in my verizon? I don't want to be greedy but I don't see it in mine. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
