Verizon raising the price for Unlimited Data Plan by $20 after November 15, 2015

Hey GTvert 90, I need some help with the Bestbuy trick. The last time I used it was for my wifes line last year. There was a option to keep existing plan. I am trying to use it on my line. My lines contract just expired and I'm trying to keep udp and avoid the price hike. I am trying to order a Note 5 on my line but there was no option to keep exsisting plan. I went through the steps credentials, etc.then there was a button to click to send to Verizon. Now, I am up to the last step to click to buy phone. I am hesitant to do it because it is different then the last time. I saw that you just did 3 phones using the Bestbuy trick. Did you encounter the same process? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is that Vert a mustang? I have a 92 Vert LX 5.0
I was worried and actually went back and redid it all before I ordered. Ended up just doing it anyway. So far so good

Could you see any notation of extra minutes or messages in my verizon? I don't want to be greedy but I don't see it in mine. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

Nope, nothing on the extra minutes. I would call but I didn't really even need the extra minutes. I just wanted to delay the 20 dollar hike and hell, I can even upgrade now.

So as I understand it, even if I have one of the old plans, which I do, once this 20 dollar UDP price hike increases....can I buy a phone at the subsidized price normally at say Best Buy, or no?

Well we could always upgrade but we still have to pay full price. We cannot get the discounted phones without changing plans.

Ya, I don't need the minutes either but she said I would get them so just curious. I bet we still get the 20 dollar increase in the first bill then gone after that.

The Best Buy trick requires another line for swippity swap but it is too shady for me. If VZW won't do it on the phone for me I wouldn't mess with it. I've also never fully understood all the moves.

The guy said that no users with UDP cannot get subsidized phones anymore. Either you can get a payment plan or pay the full retail but no more subsidized plans.

You can get payment plan pricing if you take the additional $20 charge. Your service would still be out of contract.

Is it a bonus promotion 100 minutes OR 100 texts or 100 minutes AND 100 text?

Ticked off about this $20 increase. I have unlimited but use at most 4GB/mo on rare occasions. Typically I use 2.2GB/mo. Pissed off that I'm getting a $20 increase after 20+ years with Verizon when I don't even use that much data.

My blood was boiling when I called and asked if I could switch to the 6GB/mo for $29.99 plan they'd offered in the past and the [Removed by Moderator] on the phone claimed it didn't exist. Can someone recap this *611 and ask for 100 bonus minute trick? I'm currently in contract till September of next year. Does this do anything for me?

I think I'm going the route of using LTE as much as possible until I can either get these [Removed by Moderator] to get me on a loyalty program or my contract ends and I'll switch then. They know damn well how much data I use each month and can clearly see I'm not trying to game the system...

If I did pay the extra $20/mo for unlimited, I assume I'm still out of contract and if I keep using tons of data they could theoretically end my service since I'd be out of contract?

I don't like the situation either but I don't think your "Internet rage" language will be viewed positively here. You might as well take the high road and voluntarily edit it before a mod does it for you.

The online chat is telling me if I remove the $8/mo equipment protection on my line that I'll lose my unlimited data plan... even though I'm in contract. And the customer loyalty number I had saved is now disconnected too. Excellent.

Uh no. Just do it online.

Unfortunately, Verizon reps have given me inaccurate information many times,so this doesn't surprise me

Thanks for the 6GB code. The chat window said it's still active with no end date. I think I'm going to ride the unlimited as much as I can till contract end and either switch to that or change carriers. I'll try my luck with a phone call or online with removing the equipment protection.

Added bonus. I love how they close a chat by stating they appreciate your business since whatever year you started... as you just finished a chat about them raking you over the coals. Nice.

Re: Verizon to raise the price of unlimited data by $20 in November

What about the "Talk & Text Plus Data $20 Discount" promotion?

On my bill under my two UDP lines it's said this for a very long time:
Line Access $9.99
Email & Web Unlimited $29.99
Talk & Text Plus Data $20 Disc -$20.00

What happens to me?

You might want to call VZ and speak to a supervisor... or two. I've got the extended warranty on my phone, have carried it for years and have used it a few times.

Was going to drop it recently but decided against doing it. Spoke to VZ... no mention that it would affect the UDP I have had for years.

The ext warranty covers the phone... not the plan. Shouldn't have an effect on the plan.

I'd get it in writing, email from them if they say it won't affect plan!

It's difficult to trust VZ these days.

The chat is wrong. I just removed the equipment protection from my wife's line yesterday and she still has unlimited. We are both month to month. You can add and remove stuff as necessary without it affecting your plan. The same is true with modifying your call minutes and number of texts.
