I have a question. does this go towards single accounts and also family plans. I'm on family account but I pre ordered first day of presale. My friend has single account does the June 28 date also affect him?

It affects everyone. unlimited will not be renewable on the 28th or after.

Hi ultimate_ed You are trying to upgrade your dauthers line, did your dauther have a smart phone before?
I had 2 lines that didnt have a smart phone but had unlimited data.

2 months ago I ordered 2 smart phones and had a hard time to put them back into the old plan. Took me around 3 weeks to straighten it out. lots of phone calls to verizon.

I just haven't had a need to post before. Just thought I would share what happened to me in case some people were also getting their order cancelled. But it is probably just a small amount of people who are affected. I highly doubt they are going to do this to everyone. I purchased mine at 5:49 on 6/6. The VZW rep doesn't even know why it was cancelled, so it could just be a computer glitch. I don't think it would have to do with credit card info since I don't think they even charge until it ships. Idk. I ordered it again and hopefully it sticks this time and I still am able to get it day one.

Wow. Um, no, not pwnng anyone. I just lurk here, excited to be getting the GSIII after having the Droid Incredible for two years and it finally spurred me to post. I was reading about the same order cancellation issue at a much longer forum thread on XDA, and posts there are saying there may be a computer glitch, where the Verizon system is cancelling what appear to be duplicate orders. Although in my case, we have three lines on the family plan, and I was ordering identical phones for two of them, so that's a plausible reason why the other two weren't canceled. Am just going to reorder online and see what happens.
 
FYI to the Galaxy S3 pre-order folks, I just read this over at HowardForums from a member with over 800 posts, not just some troll:

I just got off the phone with Verizon, seeing if I could still order a Galaxy S3 and be able to keep my unlimited data plan. I was informed that any subsidized phone activated on the account after their share data plans go into effect (June 28th) will lose unlimited data. I asked what about all the people who preordered the SGS3 to safeguard their unlimited data (phones expected to ship July 1st), & was told they will lose it, since the phone can't be activated until 3 days after the share data plans go into effect.

That is how Verizon is getting a bunch of people off of unlimited data plans, and a particularly back door & s****y way to do it. So for anyone that has unlimited data & has preordered the Galaxy S3, you better call Verizon & find out for yourself if you need to cancel your order.

So that's why the Verizon version isn't shipping earlier with the other carriers. They have really gone out of their way to screw the customers. Are they going to be putting in KY Jelly dispensers in all retail stores??

So how are they going to change the terms that the buyer agreed to when they pre-ordered?

I am wondering if people who are getting the cancel notice are getting subsidized phones. Myself... I paid full retail. I am hoping that keeps me in my old plan.

lohonda or chefz... did you upgrade or pay full retail???
 
So moving forward, are they still going to offer the individual data plans (2GB for $30, etc.)? I'm part of a family plan, right now, we don't have unlimited minutes or texts (nor do we really need either of those), mine is the only smartphone, and I have unlimited data for $30. We still have a while before we can get new phones, or anything like that, and I know if/ when I do upgrade, I'm going to get pushed into a capped data plan. But this new "shared" data thing seems like it'd be more expensive.

I typically use just under two gigs in a month, so I'd be fine with that limit, for $30. But I'd hate to get stuck with some new "shared" plan, having to pay $50 just for 1GB...

I'm almost in the same boat. My line has unlimited data, but my wife is paying $30 for 2GB. Her line, however is eligible for an upgrade now. So I pulled the trigger and ordered the S3 before the June 28th date.

I used my $30 credit and upgraded.
 
I wonder if they are just canceling preorders that used extra discounts. The ne2 and 3g to 4g discounts because when I went to preorder, the screen said no promational discount are allowed/can be used.
 
Hmm. I also order a SG S3 on 06/06/12 in-store and the sales rep told me that I would be able to keep my unlimited data plan. I know Verizon can change it anytime though. I even got an email with my detailed purchase. So far, no email regarding canceled purchase.

Yes. I transferred the upgrade credit from her line to mine and then used that to order the GSIII for my line. :D

So far it has been working out well, I get a new phone on contract every year and she gets to choose from my older phones!

I took advantage of upgrades for all three phones on the family plan when I ordered on June 7th (not the 6th like I previously thought). Just spent 40 minutes on the phone talking to Verizon customer service, and finally got a supervisor who could confirm that the cancellation email was just a glitch, and that from everything she could see, all three phones were still on preorder status and were just waiting on the phones to arrive and be shipped, with an estimated delivery date still at July 9th. They added a note to check the account a couple of days before delivery just to be make sure everything still looks good. She also confirmed that our terms and conditions had previously been accepted when I placed the order online, and that our unlimited data plans would be grandfathered in as long as we upgraded by June 28th. So that's good - I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can safely ignore that cancellation email now.

I got sick of the uncertainty and went and cancelled my BB order today and ordered through Verizon. Hope for your guys sake that you DO get to keep your unlimited but I couldn't take the not knowing for sure.

Don't believe them, they just want you to spend your money at verizon. I called and they noted in my account that I will keep unlimited no matter what, even if I get it at best buy

i hope for your sake you are right, just talked to Best Buy and they told me they don't touch your account till you pick up and activate the phone.

Just to be safe i am going to order through Verizon
