Way too many issues, who's jumping ship once S22 Ultra launches?

I ordered the S22 Ultra, but keeping my Pixel 6 Pro as well. Installed the beta last night. Running very smooth and no problems at all.

Orders the S22U but keeping my pixel12L has been better than 12 stable on my P6P. Even like that I can tap the date on the home widget and it brings me to my calendar! (Instead of the weather app) Transitions, FPS, battery...overall better experience.

So I kept my S8 for two years. Then I kept my S10 for two years. I was actually proud of myself. Then I got the S20 FE from T-Mobile. Then I got the S21 Ultra from Samsung. Then I traded in my FE for the Pixel 6. The FE was just sitting in a drawer anyway, right? Old habits/lack of willpower. So two phone guy, one SIM here.
3 phone 3 SIM gal. I have the S10+ with a cheap Smarty SIM. I use it for playing Dragon Mania Legends and occasionally Dex IPhone 8 plus with my secondary SIM and I use the Apple Watch. My main phone is my P6 Pro.

Just ordered the S22 Ultra 512GB (had the Note 20 Ultra 5G prior to the Pixel 6 Pro).
Hated the google launcher.
Missed the Samsung One UI Edge Panel and other gestures that Nova could not make up for googles lack of.
The last straw was missing TEXT and VOICEMAIL notifications (could have been a carrier problem?)
Glad to have an S Pen again.

I did install Android 12L beta a few days before and I got to say it's way better than the android 12 builds. For one it feels way snappier and polished experience overall. I have seen similar experiences with others, so those who don't mind beta builds give 12L a go.

I hope you're right on that. I haven't installed Android 12 beta yet, and while a good/stable OS wouldn't change my mind in getting rid of the Pixel 6 Pro, it at least would save made the decision harder. Kinda blows my mind that Samsung were previously criticised for having inconsistent/buggy software and the Pixels were just super solid and consistent, then the Pixel 6 just completely reverses that narrative and it's now the Pixels that are really inconsistent and buggy.

Maybe if Android 12L was the quality of software the Pixel 6 released with, there wouldn't have been nearly as many complaints.

Does it speed up the fingerprint scanner?

May be a little but the fingerprint scanner is same experience as before the update. I don’t think any software update is going to drastically change the fingerprint experience. It’s not the fastest and that isn’t changing. I don’t use pixel or Samsung as my main phone, may be that’s why the finger print scanner hasn’t bothered me that much on the pixel even before the update.

Ok, So I will be jumping ship from the P6P and moving to the S22U.

Here is a quick breakdown on why...

1. The fingerprint sensor is working my last nerve! Anytime your hands are super dry or dirty it DOES NOT WORK!!!!
2. Consistent network issues.
3. Problems answering a call (can't swipe to answer or decline)
4. It gets pretty warm on most occasions.

There a few other issues too but minor.

I will miss features to but I just need some reliability. I haven't had a Sammy in a while so we'll see what happens

Already seeing posts on the S22 forum about the battery getting warm. As soon as it gets released to everyone there will be reception, camera and battery complaint threads, same as every new device.

I'm at a point in my life where I could afford to buy every new device that comes out of I wanted to, but just will not spend $1,000 every few months. I've had none of the fingerprint, reception, or warm battery issues. Every device I've ever bought all seem to have a few people complaining about the same issues every time.

You're right. My P6P is perfect. I ordered an S22 Ultra, but keeping my P6P. And yes, as soon as the 22 series start arriving, here come the battery and photo threads and the "I'm returning my S22 Ultra" threads. If anyone is that worried, wait 6 months to buy the phone.

I have the S22U pre-ordered and am on the fence as to whether to go through with it or cancel and stick with the Pixel.

As I said before the Pixel has a camera I can trust but on the flip side if my thumb is dry the FPS is flaky, it still still seems to chew through battery when off of wifi, auto brightness is really iffy and slow to respond. TBF I would proably keep the Pixel either way but the chioce is camera on the Pixel vs. almost everything else on the S22U

Pretty much the same. I have two small issues. The phone does get warmer than I'm used to, particularly during the first hour of charging, but it's not usually uncomfortably hot or anything. My other issue started with the January update - my phone is much more sensitive to edge touches than it was prior. Neither of these is a deal breaker and in general I'm very pleased with the phone.

My biggest complaint is FPS PERIOD.

Sometimes I can touch it over and over and it will not read!

From the AC review, it seems like the ultra camera still struggles with movement, especially indoors. I don't understand why Samsung can't nail this part of the camera.

The iffy battery life makes the s22 an easy pass for me, but I wouldn't mind trying another Samsung phone one of these days. They get just about everything else right and now they're better than Google with promised updates.

It's hard to tear yourself away from the hardware. I've gotta 2 year old and a Pixel 6 and I've captured some great shots of him with that phone, but my S21 Ultra!? It's DIFFICULT to take my SIM out of this phone. It's fantastic.

I made a mistake and moved from my Note10+ to the S21 Ultra. That's not an indictment on the S21 but a appreciation for my Note. However, if I don't reboot the S21 Ultra everyday, sometimes twice a day, I cannot make/receive phone calls. So, I have a phone which has been replaced by the carrier in the last 6 months that can do everything except be a phone effectively.

So yes i'm jumping ship! I'm looking forward to having a "phone" and Note in the next few weeks.
