what is the best glass protector to use with the Galaxy note 8

Very impressed with the Whitestone Dome Glass. I put it on a few days ago, it looks absolutely perfect and feels great especially compared to the film style protectors.

I went through probably a dozen different screen protectors with my old Note 4, and I didn't want to go through all that again with my Note 8. I ordered a Pure-gear extreme impact film style screen protector that I got with the Note 8, and used it until I decided on the Whitestone Dome and put it on.

The Pure-gear screen protector was really easy to put on the phone, and it stuck on the edges with no bubbles or anything, but I didn't like how it felt and how the S-pen would leave marks in it. It just wasn't smooth for scrolling or using the pen, so I looked into getting a glass screen protector instead and chose the Whitestone dome.

I wouldn't say the install went 100% perfectly, but it was good enough to get a perfect result. The bubble level app I used wasn't exactly accurate so I ended up tilting the tray to get the glue to spread evenly, and some glue did run over the sides. I had taped buttons and openings with blue painter's tape so that helped with clean up. Installation is definitely a little messy but I can't argue with the end result, it's just fantastic.

I have 4 cases I've tried that all work fine with it, too. Casemate wristlet wallet folio, Casemate Karat, and 2 cheap cases from eBay, Uskyn ultra thin matte protective case and x-level thin leather cover case.

*sorry the pictures are kind of crappy, this was the same night I installed it, and I didn't clean the edges up really thoroughly until the next day

If need be can the Whitestone glass screen protector be removed without damaging the Note 8 screen.

Good question.
And suppose you drop phone and your screen cracks, is it hard to get the rest of the screen off?

I went with the Whitestone protectors for my Note 8. Easy installation. Only thing I noticed is the Otterbox Defender tends to push the corners of the glass up. Other than that I would highly recommend.

I posted in the other thread in this Accessories section.

I did my research and I am not finding any glass protectors that are highly-rated and that work for most N8 owners. It's easy to find some Whitestone lovers, but then there are so many that really don't like it. There is the endless number of glass protectors on Amazon, but so many of those are elevated to near-perfect ratings by really dubious raters. I just complained to Amazon today about one of those that has 60 4-star reviews, the only problem is that they all have the same buying history. Bogus, fake reviews.

Maybe we need to wait to see if something surfaces that works for just about everyone - especially important when it comes with a $40 - $50 pricetag.

I have a highly-rated film protector on my N8 now, and predictably, it's perfect - except for stylus use - it's a bit soft. At least it doesn't fall off or suffer from sensitivity loss like most glass protectors - and it costs $8.

I welcome all glass protector advice on this front!

I would think that for the most part, users that don't like Whitestone either had problems with installation, or had cases that weren't fully compatible.

The install process is definitely more demanding than most, and it is possible that there are variations in the amount of glue that is present from one box to another. So there are a number of people who understandably are not happy with Whitestone, especially considering the fairly high cost.

But there are others, including myself, who absolutely love it. I was fortunate, and careful, during the installation, and had no issues. The feel is great, and it should provide protection as good as anything else out there.

I'm not aware of any who have a successful install that don't like it, or want to switch to something else (I could be mistaken, but I don't recall any posts like that).

I'm not a Whitestone 'fanboy,' just one who is very happy with the product. I still think the cost is a bit absurd, and giving you only one piece of tempered glass adds insult to injury. I think they would actually do better by selling the glass by itself, at a cheap price, so you only have the one time investment for the install jigs, the glue, and the UV light. That way if you mess up an install, you're not out a big chunk of change.

I love the Whitestone as well, but one of the ones that ended up with bubbles on my screen. I'm EXTREMELY happy with the feel of it, but I find it almost absurd that the manufacturers of the tempered glass can't come up with a better system seeing that the edge phones have been put for such a loing time. I wrote to Whitestone because the price is absurd to the one chance you get to place the protector on perfectly the first time, but they did give a second bottle of adhesive . Spigen has a new tempered glass, but that will be over a hundred bucks in tempered glass for a phone that already costs dern near $1000. So, we will see!

I purchased a lower end RTGLab tempered glass protector with a cut out on the top and it did the job last week when my phone fell from my pocket to the ground. Screen protector broke and came off but the screen was perfect. I did not like the loss of edge/curve sensitivity with that $8 protector nor did I like the grungy stuff that collected between the case and the edge of the protector at the top so I looked for something else. I just installed an Olixar full cover tempered glass protector. It installed perfectly and it appears that the sensitivity is as good across the entire screen as the bare screen with the peace of mind of having a screen protector. The Olixar cost $25 for 2 and I received it in 3 days via Amazon Prime.

Good to hear that you found a more affordable protector. Do you suffer any touch sensitivity loss with the Olixar compared to the bare screen?

So far, with less than 12 hours of use on the new screen protector, it seems that the sensitivity is nearly as good as the bare screen. I also notice zero issues using the S-Pen

I'd still recommend the Whitestone to anyone with a note 8. It's a matter of case compatibility and correct installation. If you install correctly it'll fit perfectly with an OtterBox commuter, Spigen neo hybrid, and the UAG monarch. These are the cases I and a couple of friends are using (I'm using the Spigen). Every one of us had perfect installations with the Whitestone dome the first time ... although UAG does have a fleck of dust trapped under his, for which we have teased him relentlessly.

Fwiw the Whitestone dome screen also works flawlessly with all official Samsung cases.
