What new hardware would you like to see in android devices?

As far as hardware in phones getting better, they're already evolving at a decent rate. And will continue to only get better. I think a major turning point is Intel's involvement, I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with. One thing I would really like to see though, is a much larger and broader market of accessories. For android phones and tablets, the accessories available for Iphones and Ipads is ridiculous. I mean they are every where! Even the gas station near my house has IPhone data cables and silicone cases.

I'm sure no one is going to agree with me, but with the ability to make bezels thinner than ever before, I was to see another dual screen phone like the Kyocera Echo. A flexible screen would make it even better. I love the idea of have a small form factor that can unfold into a big screen when you need it. But it would have to be done by a big manufacter (looking at you Samsung) who can build a quality UI and app optimization engine for it, and who can market it enough for them to actually sell. Once enough have sold, devs will get behind it.

Ok, everyone can flame me now. It's ok, I'm a big boy; I can take it. ;)

Yes! How have they not released this yet?!

More battery. How about optional expansions of 3500-5000mah. More ram maybe A 2gb standard. Hdmi output for presentations. Cpu and gpu is good for me since I'm not a hardcore mobile gamer.

A better audio quality / better dac

More high res 4-4.3 screens would be nice. I really dont like the 4.3+ screen phones, way too unwieldy (my Bionic is 4.3 and is as big as i'd want to go).

Need to cram about 50% more mAh into the same size battery too, or focus on less power draw from our CPUs and LCDs while maintaining their processing oomf at current levels.

More work on making the phone a convergence device, ie like the lapdock, with more connectivity and applications for that space. I think thats where we'll be in 5 years - you wont need a dedicated laptop, just a dock for your 'superphone'.

My ideal phone that could be made today would be
-the look of the EVO lte, but with a glossy back, period or the galaxy s 3. Both very beautiful phones with great design.

-gs3 screen size. Anything bigger is uncomfortable

- quad core 1.6 ghz cpu
-2 gigs of ram
-very high resolution screen
-lte+ hspa support
-2mp front facing camera
-screen begins from the bezel with no extra space in between
-flash on the front and back camera
-highest quality radios
-fully unlockable bootloader
-Google now built in
-nfc
-updates available from manufacturer for the phone, bypassing the carrier
-smart stay
-the Samsung gestures
-taking pictures while shooting videos
-minimum of 32gb internal storage
-No skins, but if they are there the user should have the ability to remove them
-excellent voice control
-3300mah battery STANDARD and it MUST BE REMOVABLE
-64gb micro sd slot
-Excellent microphone
-great call quality
-Wi-Fi calling built in
-referring built in
-No carrier contamination
-No shutter sound (or at least customizable )

Super fast charging batteries (Batteries get a quick charge with new anode technology), screens that are easier to read in direct sunlight (Sunlight Readable LCD/ High Brightness LCD Monitor Technology), and waterproof technology such as Liquipel becoming standard features (Liquipel | Make Your Cell Phone Watersafe, No Case Required!).

I want to see something with a working fingerprint lock.

would like to see quad cores drop in US. seriously, how have OEM's not realized they need LTE on these chips.....?? the first "quad core" labeled phone in america will sell like crazy with all of the tech guys nerdgasming all over it. how has no one taken advantage of this yet?

I want Nokia to drop wp7 and be sensible and come to droid, then we can have pureview their pureblack screens, better dacs for audio, better call quality.... Damn you nokia, droid was the obvious switch from symbian, please please please make a droid handset and wipe that smug grin from Samsung.

Their screens are nice, but not compared to the best screens on Android phones (not even counting resolution, just pure quality).

As for DAC's, the SGSIII includes a pretty good one already, and has development behind it to make it even better.

I agree with the radios, though, Nokia has some amazing reception.

Better battery life

I agree.

I'd love to see a smartphone with a battery that lasts 24 hours on a single charge with heavy usage.

It currently just doesn't exist!

Consumer infrared (already present in some Galaxys and HTC One)
Laser emitter and detector for measuring distances (area, volume), scanning objects
More accurate gyros and compass for less jitter in AR apps like Google Sky Map and others
