What problems are you experiencing with the Essential Phone

I think the touch sensitivity for me is improved after I went to settings>accessibility>talkback>settings>gestures>tap detector sensitivity and set to high. I still have TalkBack off.

I tried this and my touch responsiveness has definitely improved. Great tip!
 
Anyone interested in trying to collect specific information to configure the phone to work best on each carrier? I am on ATT. Thoughts?

I had disabled Talkback and never tried this trick. I re-enabled it, changed this setting and disabled it again. Sure enough it worked. It must change a system setting unrelated to Talkback itself.

So my phone won't send picture messages through text nor will it download them. I've taken it into Sprint and they could not determine the issue so they replaced it and I'm still having the same issues. Even if I turn off data and run on WiFi only still will not download or send picture messages.

Do you by chance have enhanced LTE on? Try turning that off, restart the phone and see what happens.

AT&T had big issue with that in the past. Turned off Enhanced 4G LTE and never had an issue again. I could be something on the backend of Sprint if this is the case.

Settings > Cellular > Enhanced 4G LTE
 
Yep that is all on. I've troubleshooted everything with Sprint.

HOWEVER. I believe I found the issue.

I left my house earlier and drove literally 1 mile down the street, I had an app open that would show me which towers I was connected to and as soon as it changed towers I was able to send and receive MMS. Odd because the iPhone 7+ in my house would send MMS fine but maybe was operating off of a different tower. For now I'll deal with it since I love my phone. I was actually on my way to swap for the Note 8 but once it worked I immediately turned around. I honestly would have been sad to give up my Essential phone. I love everything about this thing.
 
The only thing I have had happen, is my phone didn't charge to 100% last night when I went to bed. It's on the charger currently and at 97% so that's good. I haven't had any real issues, I see what people mean by the camera is slow, at the end of the day the camera is the last thing I consider when purchasing a phone.
 
For the second morning in a row I cannot turn off the alarm. It will not respond at all to my touch. I have to turn off the phone to silence. Can’t even turn volume down

So I reported this thru the support email portal and got an email back that they would be sending me an exchange unit within five to seven days from their partner Asurian. I am surprised by this for sure.
 
Having problems with my Bluetooth headphones. Before the update I had a problem with the audio cutting in and out sporadically, but now it's much worse. Audio will just drop out completely. Sometimes if I close the app I'm using and reopen the audio starts again, but most of the time I have to go into Bluetooth, disconnect and reconnect again. And it's not losing signal, it stays connected but for some reason no audio comes out.
 
^^^ Are you having problems with the headphones using one particular app? Have you tried it with other apps or making phone calls?
 
My wallpaper changes to the default one by itself randomly.

I use my phone with Android Auto a lot and I noticed that when I eject from Android Auto from my Chrysler that the wallpaper is sometimes different.


I set my wallpaper by long pressing the home screen and then selecting Google wallpaper.

No, it just stop streaming the audio, but are still connected. As an example, I'll be watching YouTube when suddenly the sound is gone, but I get no prompt from my headphones they disconnected and if I go to my Bluetooth settings it shows my headphones still connected, but no sound. Wires thing is if I close YouTube and then open up my music player, the sound comes through fine. And then when I reopen YouTube, sound starts playing again.

But it's not just YouTube, it's also happened with pocket casts while listening to podcasts I've downloaded.
 
Definitely strange, I'd try different Bluetooth headphones just to rule that out. Otherwise, I've got nothing . . .

These are AirPods, but they worked fine with my Pixel, Galaxy S7 and Note 8. Of course they also work perfectly with my iPhone/iPad/MacBook/Apple Watch. Only having this issue with my Essential. Before the update, the audio did cut out and skip quite a bit, but never dropped completely, after the update it just got worse.

I wonder if maybe my unit is defective. I already emailed Essential about it, and they didn't know what to do and said they would look into it. Since my unit also has that hole in the speaker grill, I'm thinking I should probably just exchange it.
 
Think I might start to be having ghost touch issues. It happened like once or twice and then stopped.

I think I just need to go ahead and send this phone back. They gave me an extra week and I have emails to confirm that. I just need to jump ship even though I love the phone.
 
For some reason, my Smart Lock keeps disappearing. I can get it back by turning off Trust Agents and then rebooting and turning it back on. But, it randomly keeps disappearing. Anyone else? I have reset the phone once.
