Where is the 4.3 Update for the Verizon Galaxy S3?

Lost tethering. Portable Wi-Fi hotspot widget from taiseiko brings up Verizon nag-screen now. Feel the love!

When you say tethering is gone, are you referring to "Mobile Hotspot" under Settings --> More Settings --> Mobile Hotspot or are you referring to Settings --> More Settings --> Tethering --> Bluetooth Tethering?

I ask because I've not used Mobile Hotspot or Tethering before and I'm waiting for my first Tablet to arrive which happens to be WiFi only and I was hoping to use the Mobile Hotspot feature for times where I'm not near WiFi and I'm using the tablet. If this update removes the Hotspot option, I'm not going to update unless there are alternative options.

Can anyone provide some clarity?

Thanks!

The stock hotspot tethering app should still work, some people are talking about 3rd party tethering apps like FoxFi not working.

I see nothing there worth downloading.

Many of the changes aren't even listed in that PDF as it focuses mostly on trying to upsell you a Galaxy Gear.

There are a ton of technical changes that make it more than worth it, and its performance is clearly better than 4.1.2

I did a Factory Reset immediately after installing it.

Too bad it didn't improve the reception. Gonna have to talk to VZW about that, I guess :-(

Yes the ones they used to get free tethering. Verizon has been cracking down on those for a while, so I'm not sure why they didn't expect that to come.

If they did it on a GS4/HTC One/etc. why wouldn't they do it on this device?

Verizon removed the Tabbed Settings... Ugh, Why? At least you can get rid of the Persistent Wi-Fi notification.

Reception still terrible :-( :-(

Doing a Factory Reset and then will check it out in more detail.

The screen does look better, though, I give them that (Colors, etc.). The Auto-Brightness seems more aggressive (better calibrated?).

I wonder if S Beam still turns itself off randomly and on every reboot...

What do you mean by "Tabbed Settings?" My S3 had the latest update and never had tabbed settings. My son has the S4 and it does have tabbed settings, but I don't believe the S3 ever did.

All the other carrier s3s had tabbed settings

Dammit, would somebody define what it is their talking about? Post a screenshot.

If we had tabbed settings we could. The other carrier s3s had the same tabbed settings as your sons s4......

How about just explaining what you mean. Instead of constantly referring to "tabbed settings."

You said your son has it on his phone I don't understand why you need more of an explanation when you have already stated that you know what it is.
Edit: never mind sorry saw that you weren't the same person. One sec and I will see if I can find it.

The one on the left would be an example of all the other carrier versions menus.
And this is actually what I saw on a coworkers phone on Monday. They had it in the early release and then apparently changed it this week sometime before the official release.

Thanks for the clarification. So this is something that the Verizon S3 never had. That's what I was wondering about.

Yeah apparently they didn't like it for some reason. because it was in the first version they released last week. And it got changed between then and now. Doesn't really bother me though. its not like I sit there all day looking at the settings anyway.

I would like to install the update but because I recently rooted and unlocked my phone I'm not sure how to go about it. Sorry about being such a noob but I would appreciate some guidance. Thank you!

Nooooo! Can someone test FoxFi also?
I just tried to turn FoxFi on and was greeted with "Use of this service requires a subscription to Mobile Hotspot or Mobile Broadband Connect. To subscribe use the links below, you can also go to verizonwireless.com."
I just used FoxFi over the weekend so it looks like the VZ update killed it. Going to have to wait for the developer of FoxFi to see if he can find a workaround.

I'm fully updated, I notice some flickering on widgets when the screen is flipped, and swiftkey erased, which reinstalled, no problem. So far everything else looking good.
