Where is the 4.3 Update for the Verizon Galaxy S3?

Get a Nexus 5 (obviously not on Verizon) and enjoy KitKat and the latest updates directly from Google - problem solved.

I'd rather wait for a solid update then one that is full of bugs....seems like I'm in the minority. Crying about the lack of updates won't make it came any faster...#firstworldproblems.

✌SG3/iPad2

I tend to agree with you about this. I'm happy with what I've got on my phone right now but I will probably be one of the first people upgrading when it finally does come out but it's not something that I'm going to dumpp Verizob or this phone for.

People, now think about it. If the lack of this update coming out on Verizon is the most pressing thing you have to worry about then consider yourself lucky.

I thimk this seems less of an issue to people who have been on Verizon for a long time.

When you come from a cartier that gave you 3 major updates within 7-8 months, it is a bit less ignorable.

And I wish there was a way to siphon gottabemobile links out of search results. Is there???

Good idea on filtering out Gottabemobile! Here's how (2nd tip also includes filtering particular sites): https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/136861?hl=en

Thank you
So there is no 4.2.x on Verizon
They are going from 4.1.2 To 4.3.#
Is that correct

Fixed it for you.
Exactly. Wasting everybody's time by posting new threads asking, "When is it coming"? is useless.
Everybody has an opinion, and that's OK. But all it does is cause trouble. Just like political discussions.

Is Gottabemobile really that bad? I hadn't heard of them until I Googled this update for S3 but had no idea it was unreliable.

I may end up getting the Moto X on sale for $400 on Monday. It actually got Kit Kat before my Nexus 7 and before the Nexus 4. If I can get $250I for my S3 I'll be happy.

Some information I've seen come from this site was demonstrably false, and it tends to pop up as the top results in both Google and Bing search. There is just no other way to get around skipping their trashy posts other than to filter them out. They've also been bumping their "what to expect" posts for months now... It's getting a bit out of hand with that site...

Thanks to the other person for filtering them.

I've been viewing the AT&T version of this forum and the only error I'm seeing there is the download manager error: hardly a show-stopper.
That's not even close to true. The version that hit att was complete garbage. The only reason 4.3 is being pushed out half finished is to sell those stupid $300 dumb watches.

I agree its sad and pathetic that Samsung can't competently update a phone to a version behind the current one, but as "tech support" for several family stock/unrooted s3s I'd rather have nothing than garbage.

I just read threw the att 4.3 thread. Looks like some have minor problems but nothing major.

Hope we don't have to wait much longer

Im over here looking for a friend when the Verizon update will be out. I'm on the AT&T 4.3 update on the S3 and I haven't had a single negative issue. After a little over a week that I've had it, the battery life is getting better after every cycle. And it's by far the smoothest official release that I've ever seen. Actually a bit impressed.
I'm also on the XDA forums for the S3 and there's really not any major problems. People are just having a little more trouble with bootloaders and flashing thanks to the KNOX security that Samsung thinks will be as good as Blackberry security. But i'm sure the developers will figure things out soon.

My name is Tazeen, how may I assist you?
WK: Hi Tazeen, could you give me a status update for android 4.3 update on Galaxy S3?
Tazeen: Hello ! I am happy to check and see what information I have about the software update, just a monent
Tazeen: moment please *
WK: Sure, thank you.
Tazeen: Ok I show the latest software is Current Software: Base: I535VRBMF1 / Build: JZ054K.I535VRBMF1 06/19/2013
Tazeen: Apart from that I show no other information
Tazeen: about software update for that phone
WK: Would there be information available days prior to the update?
Tazeen: Once the update has been released, we representatives then know that it is being pushed to our customers and have information about it
Tazeen: You can contact Samsung directly to check
WK: Is Samsung the responsibility party for 4.3 update taking longer for Verizon compared to Sprint, AT&T and US Cellular?
Tazeen: The manufacture pushes out the software update, if it is available you can request they push it to your phone.
WK: Since android 4.3 has been released for Galaxy S3s for other carriers, I know it is available. Would Samsung push the update OTA directly to my phone?
Tazeen: You can ask them if they can, Verizon Wireless does not push it to your phone. You can check periodically to see if the update is available by going to your Settings>About phone> System update
WK: Yes, I've been checking using that route since 11/22 when Verizon Galaxy S3 was anticipated to release the update. But I don't understand why Samsung would hold the update specifically for Verizon. Maybe you can help me understand.
Tazeen: Well before any updates are released Samsung and Verizon work together to make sure the update will not cause any issues to the phone and will work well with our network and features. There are many different tests done to make sure of that and that can cause delay. There isnt a system that I have available to push the update to your phone but I have been told that the manufacture may have some other way to assist with the update.
WK: I'll contact Samsung to ask why Verizon update is taking longer than rest of carriers. But I have a hunch they may tell me to contact Verizon.
WK: Thank you for your help.
Tazeen: You're welcome! Is there anything else I can look into for you today ?
WK: No, that's it. Thanks again.

Rebekah: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Woo Kim: Hi Rebekah, I'm hoping to get some information on status of the Galaxy S3 android 4.3 update for Verizon Galaxy S3 SCH-I535
Rebekah: I understand that you are looking for 4.3 update on your device.
Rebekah: I will provide you with the information.
Woo Kim: Thank you.
Rebekah: May I place you on hold for 3 minutes, while I gather the information on your request?
Woo Kim: Sure, of course.
Rebekah: Thank you very much.
Rebekah: Thank you for being on hold.
Woo Kim: No problem
Rebekah: Unfortunately, as of now there are no official information available for a new update for your phone regarding the 4.3 from the carrier . Once the update is available, it will be mentioned in the Samsung website and you will be notified by the carrier when/if the update is released Should this become available, it will be posted on our Website in the Samsung Download Center.
Rebekah: I would have certainly provided you with the information if that was available with us. I hope you understand our limitations.
Woo Kim: Since AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular received the update, is there a problem Verizon cell phones would have being compatible with Samsung?
Rebekah: >I am sorry to inform you that updates for the devices are released by the carrier. Samsung only manufactures devices and sells them through carrier in US. The Samsung Customer Care team cannot speculate on when a future software update may be released and can provide information only on available updates in the U.S. Please contact your carrier to get exact information on the release of updates.
Rebekah: I can provide you with the contact number for your convenience.
Woo Kim: I actually reached out to you after I spoke to Verizon:
Woo Kim: "The manufacture pushes out the software update, if it is available you can request they push it to your phone."
Woo Kim: "There isnt a system that I have available to push the update to your phone but I have been told that the manufacture may have some other way to assist with the update."
Woo Kim: You can understand my frustration being in the middle of being pushed by both companies.
Rebekah: I realize how important this is for you, However as the updates are only available OTA we are unable to push the updates form our end.
Woo Kim: So as of now, there is no news or update on the status of the update?
Rebekah: I would have certainly provided you with the information if that was available with us. I hope you understand our limitations.
Woo Kim: Can you confirm there will be android 4.3 update for Verizon Galaxy S3?
Rebekah: I am sorry but we may not be able to confirm that, However as the updates are out for other carrier, it will also be available with verizon once the carrier release the updates.
Woo Kim: I understand. Thank you for your help.
Rebekah: You are welcome.
Rebekah: Let me know if you have any other concerns?
Woo Kim: No, that's it for today
Woo Kim: Thanks again.
Rebekah: I'm glad I could be of assistance. Please get back to us if you face any other issues ; we will be glad to assist you further.

My name is Adrian, how may I assist you?
WK: Hi, Adrian. I've been trying to find some information on Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S3. I spoke to Verizon rep prior in Chat Session ID is RT27464471111, and rep advised to contact Samsung as manufacturer pushes out the software update.
WK: When I spoke to Samsung rep
WK: She advised that updates are released by the carrier
WK: I'm hoping to get some information since Android 4.3 updates have been released for AT&T, Sprint and even US Cellular, but not for Verizon
Adrian: I can certainly check into this for you concerning the update. Let me check my resources on any information.
Adrian: Let me research this for you.
WK: Sure, thank you.
Adrian: Still researching...
WK: No problem, take your time.
Adrian: What's the model number of your device?
WK: SCH-I535
Adrian: Is there any other letters behind the SCH-I535?
WK: Model SCH-I535, Build Number JZ054K.I535VRBMF1
Adrian: I appreciate your patience while I checked into this for you. I am not finding anything on a release for the SIII at this time. I know we have it available on the S4.
WK: Is there normally some news of release prior to the actual update being pushed OTA?
Adrian: We would do a press release if the software would be available for that model.
WK: I see, so not until the actual update is available
WK: Since Verizon's only carrier left for the update, I was hoping to find some news of what's exactly causing the delay, but it seems I just have to wait
Adrian: I wish I had the answer but that's above my pay but when its available we will definitely announce the update to all users.
WK: I understand
WK: Thank you for looking
Adrian: No problem. Did you have any other questions while I have your account up?
WK: No, that's it. Thanks again.
Adrian: You are very welcome! Thank you for chatting with me today!

Well, I guess we've established that (a) many reps don't know what they're talking about and (b) no one is going to tell us anything until game time.

Tidbit from another forum (can we refer to them here by name [cough]XDA{/cough]?): Verizon online tech support "confirms" they have the update and are testing. Release within 1-2 weeks.

I'm thinking its time to Root and ROM. I figure if its such a struggle to get 4.3 to our phones and other phones are getting 4.4 there really is no point in even waiting. Gotta love the way the manufactures and carriers talk and work with each other. This game is getting old.

1. That's not even close to true. There are no major issues with the 4.3 update on AT&T. The Download Manager thing I can't even really consider that an issue, it's just an annoyance that is easily remedied by simply clearing the data on the Download app. There have been no major issues on that update. I think people (like you) are jumping on the bandwagon of issues they had in the UK, but keep in mind those devices have a different hardware configuration than US models. We have S4 SoCs and they have Exynos devices. Their phones are also lacking in RAM compared to ours.

2. As for Samsung's smart watch, I'm surprised anyone would waste money on something so limited, overpriced, and dependent on smartphone FW updates to function. Can't even show a clock without being connected to a phone I heard, and of course I don't think it will work with anything that isn't a Galaxy device. I think I might get a Pebble though. It's cheap enough that I won't regret it so much if I end up not using it at the end of the day. That gear is fugly as hell.

There some guys over on the xda forums talking about the 6th
