Where is the 4.3 Update for the Verizon Galaxy S3?

Yes, I turned the Tabs on. Much better way to organize the settings, especially when you redo the phone and have to re-set up everything :-P

Ok, so this question is aimed at those who updated and then did a factory reset. First of all, did you do so as a precaution or because of an issue, and if the latter did it fix the problem? Secondly, after ota and factory reset what is the status of the phone? Anything missing, any problems, etc? In general, how do you feel about your " improved" phone?
I've been holding off waiting for more info, wondering how many people are happy and how many are regretful.
Thanks in advance:)

I updated on my 32gb model. Outside of some widgets and homescreens being flickery or slow to respond (but I'm always using GO Launcher, so that could be it), everything works great. No battery loss but for some reason swiftkey erased, but I quickly reinstalled it and its working great.

Anyone been able to find the adapt display option from the galaxy s4? Thought that was supposedly included in this update, I'm not seeing it anywhere so I guess it isn't included, but maybe I overlooked it somewhere? It's no big deal if it's not in here, but always a welcomed feature. Everything works great on my phone with this new 4.3 update, smooth and even more fluid.

Thanks for the info about the choices of "no thanks" and "download later". Last time I chose dwnld later, and was annoyed with continually rescheduling the download. IIRC, it would only allow going out as far as about two days until offering the update again.

Just did the update....now why does my camera flash keep going off at random moments? It doesn't seem to be consistent. I hit the "messages" icon and the flash went off. I had a notification from one of my apps and I selected it and the flash went off. I can't seem to reproduce it. Maybe the holiday stress is getting to me and I'm losing it. ha ha Any ideas?

Just looked through the threads for other carriers it said to check and unchecked it and reboot and it should quit doing it. That or check reboot uncheck reboot

I'm getting better reception, better battery life. I also really like the improved stock keyboard amd the customizable toggles on the notification shade.

Anyone having a problem with Kies now? I use it to back up my phone. I downloaded Kies 3 and now it says my phone's firmware is not compatible with Kies and I can't perform a backup. Spoke to Samsung and they said they don't even have Verizon's firmware in their database, so as far as their concerned Verizon still has 4.1.2.

I believe that. I've tried using Kies (v2.6.1.13105_7) to update the software on my phone (4.1.2, MF1) and it says the firmware is current.

Edit: oddly enough, I tried the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant (that you can install from your phone when you plug it in via USB ), and although the app itself still shows that the firmware is current, the Tray Icon service actually downloaded the update and is ready to install it. Go figure.

At the risk of sounding like a complete noob, can someone explain the process of performing a factory reset? How much hassle is it to get the phone back up and running the way it was before? Do you have to re-download and re-install all the apps you had before? Does it wipe out your personal dictionary list on apps like Swype? Any info you can give to a person who's never done a factory reset on their S3 would be appreciated. TIA

I want to say thanks for all the posts about this update. I always learn so much about what my phone already offered when an update comes out.

Yeah there's something very weird about this update. I got it OTA, but Verizon's website still has the PDF showing that MF1 is still the current version and Samsung knows nothing about it

My paid Swiftkey also disappeared. How do I reinstall?

Open Play Store > touch the very left hand of screen and swipe to the right > hit My Apps > go to ALL > scroll till you find Swiftkey which should say purchased and reinstall.

I don't know how much the menus have changed from 4.1.2 to 4.3, but it was Settings -> Back up and reset -> Factory data reset.

That totally depends on how much preparation you perform before the reset. Ideally you should do the following three things:
- sync all of your data with Google: go to Settings -> Google (under the Accounts heading), select your Gmail account and then review everything in the list to be sure that what you want to be synced is selected. Then press the 'Sync now' button.
- use the Kies software on your PC to backup your information: allows you to backup your contacts, SMS/MMS, pictures/videos (stored on the internal memory), call logs and TouchWiz settings.
- use something like
Cloud Drive: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.amazon.clouddrive.photos
Drive Photo Uploader: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.mynextandroid.drivephotosync
Dropsync: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.ttxapps.dropsync
to backup your pictures/videos to the cloud (never can be too careful - even if your pictures/videos are on an SD card, they are subject to random corruption).
Do you have to re-download and re-install all the apps you had before?
You could use something like Helium: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup to backup your apps and app data (be warned, the UI is less than intuitive and you can easily end up only backing up your app data but not your apps, or your apps but not your app data).
Does it wipe out your personal dictionary list on apps like Swype?
Yes. Helium will back that up IF Swype is in the list. If not, you'll have to see if there's a way to manually save that data to your SD card or elsewhere.
