Who will be dropping VZW after their plan ends?

Using the calculator during the call, I will be paying almost $400 if I switch to the new plan. That's what the CS guy said after double checking twice, (because of what my average data overages would most likely be, he also told me that it was $10 a gb overage, but it's actually $ 15, so it's probably right at $400). And that's with my corporate discount. That's why he told me it was best to just keep the plan I had and upgrade at full price.

This is not a judgement, merely a question of interest - how do you use 10GB+ a month of data? Is it Netflix, Youtube and music streaming?

I use WiFi at home and work, but still use my phone a lot on the road for a broad range of apps, but not video or music streaming, and never hit the 1G mark.

This new pricing scheme will increase my monthly plan by $10, but will probably decrease my family's plan. It definitely will hurt single users more than families. I do plan to stay with Verizon because the coverage is great, the speeds are great and I get coverage in the mountain areas I visit (skiing, hiking) which other services don't cover.

I just don't understand how you go from offering 4gb for $30/month (that's what my wife got when she got her Thunderbolt) to only 1GB for $50? How is that saving money? Under the old system if you got 2 4G phones you could have gotten 8gb for $60. I was hoping this shared plan would save me and the wife a few bucks since we don't use that much data but 1GB is ridiculous!

I also get a corporate discount. I am staying with my current plan. Will have to use eBay for a phone . I wont give up my unlimited

It pretty much only saves money for low data users already on unlimited voice/texting with all smartphones. The 8GB new Share Everything plan would save ~$40/month over the current unlimited talk/text with 4 smartphones all on the 2GB tier.

My wife and I will probably leave for Sprint. They always have a couple of good Android phones and since we're in Atlanta they should have LTE by the time my current contract is up next spring. I get a corporate discount for both carriers, but the Sprint plan is cheaper.

Easy fix what I'm doing is upgrading my other line putting that phone on the number with unlimited then dummying out the other line with a fliphone on my shared 750 minute plan. Spoke to rep and are allowing me to do this

I got an email back from he CS at Verizon. Here is part of what she said...I wrote back and questioned her on it.

"The new Share Everything plans that have been introduced were made available to give us the option to offer a shared data plan on family plans. You are in no way required to choose this option for your account. If it does not work for you, you are welcome to stay on the calling plan that you currently have. We are adding this as another option to consider, but our current calling plans are not going anywhere

Verizon really has to start training the CS people on the right information they are giving out.

This is all in preparation for the LTE iPhone. They dropped unlimited in June or July before the iPhone was for vzw was announced. They know most iOS users won't pay full price, but will still upgrade and give up unlimited. So its a going to make some serious money for Verizon, at the everyone's expense.

Even though I do not agree with the data plan costs, this plan would save me about $ 30.00 a month. I do not use more than 4 GB of data, I use wifi a lot.

I too am moving to T-Mobile. Their unlimited is just way cheaper and they are getting pretty decent phones.

Yup, I;m switching to AT&T once I'm done with Verizon next year. Hopefully AT&T have good phones out then. I'm addicted to super high end phones :p
