Why am I unable to send emails all of a sudden?

My email all of the sudden stopped working

Can receive emails, but can't send. And when I type an email, it freezes up even before I can send sometimes.

Welcome to Android Central! Which device, and which email app? Does this persist after a reboot? Try going to Settings>Apps>All, select your email app, and tap Clear Cache, then Force Stop. Now try again.

If the problem persists, and if you're using the stock Email app, you may have to check the email account's server settings (specifically the outgoing SMTP server), and make sure it matches your email provider's settings. Do a Google search for "[your email provider] IMAP or POP3 settings" to find out what they should be.
