Why can't we get top specs in a normal Size???

If you can't see that the iphone is considered trendy and its like a whole culture of followers then I'm not sure how else to explain it. You can see it in their eyes....i"m surprised they all don't wear black turle necks with their skinny jeans.

apple was smart imo with how they went about the screen size increase. they only increased the height and left the width as it was. this negated the main complaint against larger phones: that they are more difficult for those without large hands to hold comfortably and still have one-handed use without having to shift the grip, as is the width of a phone that determines how well it fits the hand. the argument doesnt have to be screen size vs usability

this is why i pointed out earlier that with an edge-to-edge design and software buttons, an Android phone could fit a 4.5" 720p screen into a device almost the size of a Nexus S which currently has a 4" screen

You sound like a Samsung ad.

It's not that we don't want more choices, it's that we think there has not been shown sufficient demand by the consumer to justify producing one. I don't care one way of the other if someone makes a 4 inch superphone, I'm just pointing out market dynamics, customer feedback, and sourcing/supply chain logic. (Obviously general based, since I don't have internal info on it.) IF the OEM's thought they could get enough return off the project to make it, they would. To date, it appears that the research they do tells them that it's not worth it to produce on a large scale.

There is going to be a point, IMO where people are going to get tired of these 4.5"+ phones. We're going that way because we've never been there. I fully expect 4.3" or 4.5" to be new "normal" again.

Personally, I've seen and heard a lot of buzz about the DROID RAZR M. Edge-to-edge, 4.3" screen in a small package that, except for minor differences with the camera (again, screen resolution and battery size are going to be different vs. it's bigger "brothers") is quite a compelling package.

But then again, there's this bigger is better mentality that could be tough to break. If you need to compensate, you need to compensate.

LOL!!! I love how any time someone wants a device that someone else thinks is too much, they have to be compensating. Judging by sales of the GS3, Note, Gnex, One X, etc. Screen sizes in the 4.7 range and above are very successful.

It's great that your opinion is that the smaller sizes will be the "normal" ones eventually, but there's isn't a lot of basis for it at this point. Kinda like how, IMO, the Browns will be a playoff team next year.

Now why is a bigger screen compensating many find the note a perfect partner for what they do I have my 4.5 in screen it fits well for me I did time sheets for work, emails, notes, I personally would like the note 2 as I could be really productive with it I hardly see it as compensating

Bingo. In fact I think that a phablet is a great choice for many people who don't want a phone and a tablet.

My old job gave out tablets and phones both run on data plans I dunno why they didnt just go with a phablet like the note there are plenty of reasons to use both smaller and larger screen devices its preference I think that if there was a high end smaller device more power to ya but I can hardly blame oem's if they dont think its worth it

Still a lot of people who aren't too big on 5+ inches, and it's probably safer to have separate devices for work as you will be able to use them independently, and if one is broken/lost/stolen, still get work done? Just an idea.

Personally I just like the fact that we have many options with Android. I know many people are upset because they don't have top tier with a 4 inch screen but other manufactures have the opposite problem.

My persinal observation using a 4in phone and a 7in tablet is that i find myself using my phone more. What I've learned, speaking for myself of course, is that size doesn't equate better or enhanced communication.

Even if you're talking about social media like Facebook, instagram, twitter, etc...

Social media like that works the same on both though what about what most people buy tabs for. Home use for web browsing, videos, games, basic little things like that the larger screen tablet makes for a better experience. And of course you use your phone more but your off track on the subject by bringing tablets into this

Not at all. It speaks to the necessity for or against a bigger screen, imo of course. And imo, if i cant find much use for a 7in tablet other than the very tablet specific things that have little to do with mobile communications, i definitely am not going to find much need for a 4.8in device. I realize that I am not speaking for everyone now, but its a point to be made and who ever agrees can always chime in.

I think you create more contast and use for a tablet when you have a realistic size phone. Which is why the ipad compliments the iphone so well.

My buddy has a phone with a 4.3 inch screen but uses his tablet way more than his phone I can never get him to notice his phone he feels the tablet is better for his media consumption and looking for info when he needs it.

Me I.enjoy my larger screen for everything from YouTube to ebooks I use my phone for almost everything I do work and play in fact I used it to remotely control a pc that had bas software on it so I could test equipment without running back and forth I could be at the piece of equipment I was testing and still have control on a smaller device it would make things much harder. Also I have large fingers so I always hit several buttons at once

Im not saying a smaller device is bad but again how many of you guys do you honestly think there are

That's probably the best ones currently at 4in. It doesn't have the one x image sense camera and the resolution to match, but yea, that's a nice phone. If you added the kitchen sink to it and gave it one X specs, then we'd have a real keeper on our hands

Yeah but qhd is pretty nice its what I'm rocking on my vivid, in fact I imagine the incredible LTE has the exact same screen just a half an inch smaller than mine. I don't quite understand what image sense is honestly

I have a Galaxy Nexus and I still have great use for my Nexus. I personally prefer big screens. I'm 6ft though and my hands can reach just fine. If my hands were smaller I might would want a smaller one. I don't have overlap problems with the screens though.

Comparing a 7in tablet to a 4in phone is way different than comparing a 4in phone to a 4.8 in phone. The phone is a completely different experience to the tablet. A bigger screen in a phone is a smaller increase which makes it much less of a negative impact on general use compared to a device that has to be held differently. IMO.
