Why do people buy Samsung Galaxy Phones?

Not when making a Windows Phone device and when they aren't, they pay 1/4 the cost just for being a windows Phone OEM

Unless you have proof I'm gonna call BS because Samsung makes windows phones and still pays the same as other android manufacturers.

Tried searching but as this was announced back in the WP7 days, all the news that pulls up pertains to the recent removal of Windows Phone licensing fees. I do know that it was made known by HTC originally and opposed to $18 they had to pay about $5 but this was in the WP7 days so digging that news up is nigh impossible given everything that's happened since.
Not sure what keywords I might use that I'm not at this point. Dug through the first 5 pages and it's all about the patents getting revealed last night or the drop of windows phone to free, effectively making it cheaper than Android to license due to the lack of patent discrepancies.

I don't suppose we can get back to discussing android phones on android central can we? That would be nice.

I tried a search as well and couldn't find anything which is why I asked. Interesting if that is indeed true why more manufacturers did not do this to save on some licensing fees. Even if it was only one device it makes sense to do it just to save on the amount of android devices that they sell.

Samsung admits to cutting costs and using the cheap plastic that's easiest to mass produce. They also have the laggiest high end android devices.

If Samsung's flagships lag (both of which I own) then lag must be a great thing because both my Note 3 and S5 are exceedingly fast and awesome.

It's an out-of-context quote at best. The reason for the slight edge to the iPhone 5S was size...they felt larger phones were at slightly higher risk. In their own video they clearly stated the S5 was the best one.

Thanks for finally providing a real source instead of yet another fan site though. Lets see if we can make it a trend.
An exact quote is an out of context quote? Lol!

Describe, "Exceedingly." because it's outsped by the bargain bin moto E and pretty much every other phone on every OS.

When I ask for something...anything...the response is so instantaneous that it seems as if I asked for it yesterday. I don't feel any lag. All I've done is install Nova Prime and disable some bloat...but that's par for the course.

I've had a note 3 as well among a long list of other brands, I can't report any lag issues either. Good thing I rely on first hand experience, because you can find a link showing you anything you want on the Internet these days. Simply type "issues" along with any phone brand and voila there's your completely unreliable source ready for supporting your argument.

I am a #WinPhan meaning I am a WP fanboy, I also like androids and I know they dropped the licences cost to zero and the requirement to have a dedicated camera button in their latest attempt to attract more OEMs. WP is a great OS, so is android, and iOS. The build quality of the S5 is cheap feeling plastic, but like most doesn't really matter because they use a case to protect it, same as the M8. I like this phone, but it really feels slippery in my hand, not to mention small, seeing how my favorite phone is the Lumia 1520.. When I bought this phone the choice was between the S5 and the M8. The M8 won out for two reasons, prior ownership. I liked the M7 I use to own, but hated the crappy S3. I think that US Cellular just bought a bunch of Samsung rejects just to save money, and tried to pass them off as new. Second reason is I found a used M8 that was about $20 less than the cheapest S5 I found.

What other phones have you used for an extended period of time is my question. I was in your boat. Never saw one iota of lag on Android until I went with Windows Phone to be honest. Then when I tried switching back I couldn't unsee it. I have had the Galaxy S4 and used the Galaxy s5 for roughly a week and it was visible. Perhaps if you can get a side by side comparison between a Galaxy device and a smoother phone it will be made readily apparent?

Perhaps, but why try to find a problem where none seems to exist? What is won there?

I have had way more android phones than most here and to me the S5 and Note 3 are as smooth as any...so, before it is asked, here's the android phones I've possessed:

Evo 4G
S3
S4
Note 2
G Pro
G2
Razr
Razr Maxx
Note 3 x 4
Nexus 5
S3 Mini
Galaxy Mega
S5

...I may have left something out but after rooting, ROMing, and otherwise molesting the phones my current unrooted Samsumg flagships feel as smooth as any that I've had.

The problem is there though. The battery pulls I had to do, the cheap plastics (I don't use cases, ever) the incessant lag. Look at it this way, my cousin had never seen snow before. Ever. Not til he was 17. When he did, he moved to Colorado. Was he wrong for having seen snow in the first place and moreso for enjoying it enough that he moved? That's how it was with the lag, the bugs, the malware, all the faults in Android for me.

See my post above. I've also had 2 x Nokia 1520's and every iPhone produced. Yeah, I may have a phone addiction thing problem...but still I enjoy my current S5 and Note 3 as much as anything I've had and don't see any more lag on them. Malware? Android I've heard of it but never seen it for myself on any of my devices.

I have similar experience. Also a phone addict with a long list of phones to compare against and I'm happy to say I didn't have the kinds of issues he's referring to on my Samsungs either. If you look for problems with any products on the internet you will find them, that's why there's no substitute for experience. It's certainly more reliable than snow analogies.

Looked at my RAZR M and a HTC 8X and there was not apparent lag like you said.
